The work was never-ending.

Liberty vented.

Despite this, she still handled the workload with dedication every day.

Liberty was very responsible compared to the previous head of the Fishers.

Although she also held tightly to the great power, she was much better to the family members. She gave every talented young member of the family a chance, never worrying that they would develop ambitions of taking her place.

Liberty had the power and means to put them in their place.

In fact, most family members did not have big ambitions. Given a chance, they would fulfill their roles. All they sought was stability.

They would not look for trouble so long as they could make a decent living.

Liberty took on the responsibility of a leader without connections or support. Yet, she handled everything with unwavering confidence.

Jeanne, on the other hand, grew up in the family. The family knew what she was made of. When it came time for Jeanne to take over, she would have an easier time than Liberty did.

"Sonny, when are you dropping by? I have my eye on a lovely girl. I've met her a few times and looked into her character. I think she's a good match for you.

"I'll set you up when you come back. Have dinner together. Even if there is no spark, you can be friends. You don't have a single female friend."

Sonny was raised well. Yet, he was single. Liberty felt a little defeated.

"Mom, I have to go on a business trip. After that, I need to fly to Havenmill because Laurence needs my help. I don't know when I'll be back. I don't have time for blind dates."

Sonny shot down the idea.

He had no time for love.

Liberty replied, "Oh, another business trip? Where to? I'll check the distance. If it's not too far, I'll bring the girl to you. You can have dinner together."

"It's quite a distance. I'll be in Clearfield. There's no rush, Mom. Have faith in your son. I won't be single forever."

"You're in your thirties and still single, Sonny. How can I not worry? I want to trust you, but you have to give me something to work with here. You just told me you had no time when I tried to set you up on a date.

"The girl I have for you is lovely. She's not from Jensburg. I got to know her from a partnership with her firm."

Sonny gripped the phone while sipping on the drink. He said, "Mom, I honestly can't make time. How about this? You can set me up during the winter holidays."

"I have to wait until December for that. How about somewhere during fall?"

The end of the year was still far away. Liberty was dying to get Sonny started in the dating game now.

"Um... I'll have to see. Fine. The next time I have a break, I'll fly home."

At last, Liberty was pleased.

"Mom, it's not every day you finish work early. Shouldn't you go on a date with Dunc? You can't just care about work. Give Dunc some attention. It hasn't been easy for him to stand by you all these years."

Liberty felt uneasy about Sonny telling her off. She replied, "I know. Duncan and I are not young lovers anymore."

“So what? Is it wrong to go on dates?" Duncan cut in. Clearly, he heard the whole thing.

Liberty nudged Duncan away and said amusedly, “You're such a kid. Alright. We'll have a date."

She had indeed neglected Duncan's feelings lately.
