Sonny chuckled. "You're too kind, Mr. Flemming. Elders always think other people's kids are better.
"My aunt also thinks Ms. Flemming is a great person."
Everly asked about how Serenity was doing lately. She liked Serenity quite a bit. They had only interacted for about a day, but she felt like they had quite a lot of interests in common. Even their personalities and the way they did things were similar.
She knew self-defense too, although she usually brought bodyguards wherever she went and rarely ever needed to take action herself.
As the only offspring of the wealthy Flemming family, her safety was of utmost importance because plenty of people had their eyes on the profitable Flemming family business as a prime target.
Kaden might not necessarily take bodyguards with him when he went out, but he would definitely arrange for bodyguards to follow Everly when she did. Everly did not like having them follow her, so he would get them to secretly protect her.
He knew his daughter-in-law Maddie's family coveted the Flemmings' assets, so he worried, especially when Everly visited her mother's side of the family. Most of the time, he would go with her, or arrange for a group of bodyguards to go with her.
Sometimes, he even forbade her from going there. He did not trust Maddie because she could not protect Everly. She was a pushover who valued family bonds. If her side of the family mentioned something a few more times, she tended to believe them wholeheartedly.
Kaden had delegated a portion of the Flemming household matters to Maddie to manage, ensuring she would feel she had a place at home.
For the important things, he and Everly had the final say. Luckily, he raised Everly himself and she had a strong personality, unlike Maddie. It was not as easy for Maddie's family to manipulate Everly.
Kaden only loosened the reins a little and allowed Everly to handle the relationship with her mother's side of the family herself once she came of age, could hold her own, and took over management of the company.
"She's doing great. Currently, she's in Havenmill. She went over to visit long-time friends who happen to be my buddy's adoptive mother and mentor."
"Something interesting going down in Havenmill?" Everly asked instinctively.
Though she had only interacted with Serenity for a day, she knew what Serenity was like.
Serenity was naturally a warm-hearted person. She was beautiful, kind, but not a pushover.
If nothing interesting was happening, Serenity would not have suddenly made a trip to Havenmill.
Even good friends did not have to go so far from home just to meet up.
The Yorks and Johnsons were in the same province, and the two cities were not that for from each other day trip was quite a bit of a rush if they drove, but it was no problem if they took the train or plane.
Sonny could not help but laugh. "It looks like you know my aunt quite well. That's exactly why she and my uncle dropped their work and flew Off Lil Bun was just complaining to me about it last night."
“Lil' Bun?” Everly did not get it right away. “Who?”
Sonny explained, "Heath York, my cousin. His nickname is Lil' Bun. We've called
him that for two decades and out of habit, it just slips out sometimes."
Wiltspoonians all knew the eldest York son was nicknamed Lil' Bun.
It was only then that Everly remembered Heath's nickname was Lil' Bung When she visited the Yorks, she had heard family catt hing that Serenity had explained it to her at the time too.
Heath's younger sister's nickname was Lil' Pie, and they still called her that and Callie, and rarely Callia. Together with her brother, they were the family's precious jewels.
It was evident that the siblings' arrival was highly anticipated, and they were deeply adored as the pride and joy of the York family.
