"Everly is an excellent catch. Maybe Mr. Brown happens to fancy women like her. What I'm worried about is that he may not be willing to be a househusband. Everly definitely won't move out. She needs a partner willing to settle on her family's estate."

"Exactly. What outstanding man would willingly marry into a woman's family? How many men have felt miserable being a househusband?"

"Isn't that the same for women marrying into their husbands' families? Don't women feel miserable with their in-laws too? Stop being hypocritical, Steven. Just listen to Maddie.

"Think it over yourself. I'm going out."

With that, Tessa got up and went upstairs. She changed her clothes, put on a little makeup, picked up her handbag, and left the house.

Her husband was left at home to stew in his own anger.

Everly had no idea what transpired at her uncle's house. She returned to the office and continued to work until Sonny called her in the evening.

She answered the call.

"Ms. Flemming, I'm outside your office. Are you ready to leave? Old Mr. Flemming sent me the venue's address and asked me to pick you up and go together. I've also brought your gown."

Sonny sounded slightly exasperated.

Kaden could have simply had someone deliver the gown directly to Everly's office and let her change in her lounge. Instead, he had sent it to the branch of Lewis & Co. so that Sonny could bring it to Everly himself.

He said that since Sonny would be coming to meet Everly anyway, he might as well bring her gown along.

The old man's

painfully obvious. There was no way someone as clever as Sonny could have missed them. However, he did

not refuse. He was willing to love a chance. Everly and he got along quite well, after all.

They understood each other, and neither would make a fuss over the other being too busy with work.

Still, Kaden was being a little too eager.

Well, that was how old people

They were always nagging the younger generation to settle down, as if being single past thirty was cardinal sin.

Everly frowned and said, "I usually don't wear gowns to banquets."

She was used to wearing suits and rarely wore formal dresses. Suits were simply more convenient because skirts, to her, restricted her movements.

"I still have two documents to finish. I'll have my secretary come down to get you. Sorry to keep you waiting."

Sonny laughed. "It's fine. I don't mind waiting Your grandfather asked me to bring the gown over. Since I've already brought it you could just wear it.

"You're always dressed in suits. I'd actually like to see how stunning you look in a dress."

Everly smiled. "Wearing a dress won't change my face. I'm not going to suddenly become stunning."

To be honest, she knew she could not compete with Sonny when it came to looks.

"What's wrong with your face? I think you're very beautiful."

Sonny genuinely thought Everly was attractive.
