Traffic was light late into the night. They arrived at the Flemming residence after about ten minutes or so.

Sonny parked the car but did not honk. It was late, and the neighbors had gone to bed. Honking would have disturbed them.

Outdoor lamps lit up the yard, and the lights were still on in the main building. Sonny guessed Kaden had not gone to sleep yet and was waiting for his granddaughter's return.

He turned to wake Everly. "Ms. Flemming, we're here.”

Everly woke up almost immediately. She said after taking a look, "Press the doorbell, and someone should come out to open the gate. We have live-in domestic staff."

The Flemmings had few family members, but the house was huge. If only three people lived there without live-in employees, it felt too empty.

Everly was about to get out of the car, but Sonny already took off his seatbelt and got out first.

He pressed the doorbell.

Very soon, someone came to open the gate.

When he saw it was Sonny sending Everly back home, the employee glanced at Sonny a few times, but did not dare ask. He merely greeted Everly.

Sonny got back into the car and continued driving, stopping in front of the main building moments later.

"Thank you for accompanying me tonight, Mr. Brown, and thank you for dropping me home."

Sonny laughed. "Don't mention it. Since I already promised Old Mr. Flemming, I kept my word. It's very late, so you should hurry on in. I won't come in. I should head back to rest."

Right after touching down at Clearfield, he immediately got to work. Then, he accompanied Everly to the banquet later in the evening, so the weariness caught up to Sonny.

"You're already at our doorstep. You should come in and have a cuppa. My grandpa probably hasn't gone to sleep yet."

Everly laughed. “If he found out you dropped me off and I didn't invite you in, he would give me a tongue-lashing."

She then glanced at the time again and said, "It's 11 o'clock now. It's not too late for us yet. Usually, at this hour, I'm still outside."

Whenever she had networking events, she often only got home in the wee hours, so this really was early for her.

After thinking for a moment, Sonny felt that it was a bit unreasonable to refuse when he had already arrived at the doorstep, so he got out of the car Alright, I'll disturb Old MP. Flemming's rest for a bit then."

"He's not gone to sleep yet, so it doesn't count as disturbing him."

"But I'm empty-handed."

Everly said, "There's no need to be so courteous. My grandpa would be very happy just to see you."

Sonny smiled and thought to himself that he should make up for it another day.

The two entered the house.

As expected, Kaden had not gone to sleep yet. Even Maddie was up.

Maddie was sitting in an armchair, knitting, while Kaden was watching television. The two would occasionally exchange remarks, but they were both waiting for Sonny to send Everly back.

Maddie insisted on waiting because she wanted to look at Sonny with her own eyes and see if he really was as outstanding as her father-in-law said, while Kaden had a lot to ask his granddaughter.

When the doorbell rang, Maddie put down the sweater she had knitted halfway.

sweaters were useful. She had

nothing to do at home, so she learned how to knit. She had more than a decade of this hobby by now and could knit a very good sweater of many different patterns and types too. S FindNovel.net

Ever since Everly was in her teens, every winter she would have a hand-knitted sweater from her mother. Maddie would also knit sweaters for her father-in-law and parents.

If any of her family wanted one, they just had to tell her what style and color they wanted, and she would fulfil their wish without them having to even spend a dime.

Everly once suggested that Maddie open a boutique of her own creations, as she also thought her mother had some talent in designing clothes.

However, Maddie did not have the ambition to start her own business. She was happy with how things were, and thought she was not cut out for business. The small companies and shops currently under her name were doing average and, at most, could only earn her

some pocket money.
