"What news?"
Liberty did not immediately look at it. She gracefully ate her breakfast. “I'll take a look after breakfast."
"Yeah, look at it after breakfast. It's about Sonny."
Liberty was immediately interested upon hearing it was gossip about her son.
She put down her utensils and picked up her phone on the side. Tapping on the link Duncan had sent her, she asked, "What's happened to Sonny? Why's there gossip about him?"
Her son had always maintained a clean image and had never had rumors about him.
Sometimes, Liberty even wished she could hear some gossip about him. At least that would prove that he had a heart, could have feelings, and had someone he liked.
She would not need to worry all the time that he would never get married.
He was already in his thirties.
Sometimes, when she was worrying too much, Duncan would coax her and tell her not to worry because he only got married when he was almost forty, and was living just fine now. As long as the couple had a strong bond, it did not matter if they got married young or later in life.
Liberty would be speechless at this.
That was mostly because Duncan had a scar on his face and had a tall, stocky figure which made him look fierce and gave off a very intimidating mien, which resulted in no girl wanting to approach him.
When his family finally settled on a suitable match whose family was agreeable to the match and did not mind that his face was scarred, he fell for Liberty, and the other party voluntarily withdrew from the race, not wanting to compete with Liberty.
The other party said that since Duncan's heart was with Liberty, no matter what she did or how outstanding she was, Duncan would not see it, so why should she waste her effort?
She had her pride and would not
harm Liberty to force Duncan to
choose her, so she chose to wish
the couple well instead, which could at least preserve the friendship between the two families and
prevent them from turning against each other.
Besides, with Liberty taking a while to accept Duncan, the Lewises opposing the coupling, and many other things happening, Duncan was pretty much already forty when he married Liberty.
However, due to his good physical condition and his taking good care of himself, he looked a decade younger than his actual age.
If he did not say that he was in his sixties, no one would be able to tell.
“Just take a look, and you'll know. The girl involved in the rumors with Sonny is the one Seren told us about."
Liberty immediately recalled Everly.
"The young female CEO of
Flemming Group? What was her
name? Everly, right? Seren
mentioned her to me a few timenet
She thinks quite highly of the girls and I've asked someone to look into her. She is pretty good indeed." Cóntent
When it came to helping her son assess the other party, she mainly looked at the person's character, capability, and conduct. Family background was less of a priority.
"She's the only person Seren's mentioned to us over all these years. Who else can
it be?"
Liberty hurriedly checked the news, thinking her son and Everly had accidentally had a one-night stand Though she knew the possibility of this was very low, what if they had gotten drunk and fooled around a bit too much, resulting in irreversible consequences? Hoho, all she needed to do was wait to welcome her grandchildren.
Her son was a responsible man. If that happened, he would definitely take responsibility for his actions toward Everly to the very end.
If Sonny knew what she was thinking, he would tell her that she was definitely overthinking it.
After she was done reading the article, Liberty was a little disappointed as she said,
"It wasn't of his own volition. Old Mr. Flemming asked him for help.
"Flemming Group even published a clarification already."
Liberty scrolled down to the recommended articles at the end and saw the
statement issued by Flemming Group.
