Keira rolled her eyes. "I'm not dead."
"Not dead?" Trevor squinted with his swollen eyes and noticed she had a shadow under the sunlight, which immediately relieved him. Then he got angry. "You unfilial disciple, where have you been all this time? If you weren't dead, couldn't you have sent a message to your master? Do you know I almost went blind from crying over you?"

Trevor pulled at the corner of his mouth. "Isn't it normal to be scared of ghosts?"

Just as he was about to touch Nara, Keira's angry shout came from the doorway. "Stop it!"
Keira charged forward, delivering a kick straight to Jackson's back, sending him flying. The rest of the thugs charged forward, but Lewis took them all down one by one.
Keira looked at Nara, seeing her torn clothes. She took off her jacket and draped it over the trembling girl. "Did he assault you?"
Nara nodded tearfully, then shook her head. Matias told Keira to let them go, but she didn't listen. Her eyes reddened as she turned to look at Jackson. She understood that Jackson's beatings and bullying of Nara were all because of her.
Keira stood in front of Jackson and pointed at Nara. "Apologize to her!"
"Why should I?!" Jackson sneered. "Keera, you sure can fight now, can't you? But it's useless! After all, I'm now your senior. Didn't Lady Gill come to you today? How dare you do anything to me now?"
Nara had rushed to Matias's side, sobbing. Matias slowly stood up. "Keera, step aside. I can't let you break the Freeman Sect's rules because of us. You can't hit him, but I can..."
He threw a fierce punch at Jackson's cheek, but Jackson just spat a mouthful of blood. "Matias, you don't want to remain a disciple of the Freeman Sect?!"
