Mia’s relationship with Ian had changed completely. Somewhere long the way, she had become the one doing the bullying.
If she was upset, she would pinch or swat him without hesitation, and fan would only grin and call her “Little Princess” or ” Miss Trouble,” never once fighting back.
Later, Mia was accepted into Jersey City University.
During her freshman year, she happened to run into Scott outside restaurant near campus. His looks were so striking that she was drawn to him almost instantly.
After asking around, she learned he was a student at the neighboring Jersey University of Law and Politics. The very next day, she marched over there to confess her feelings. Unfortunately, Scot turned her down.

Mia was not heartbroken, only mildly disappointed, and she moved on quickly.
She was beautiful, came from a wealthy family, and had no shortage of admirers. One of them was a junior–year student who was a year ahead of her. He also came from a well–off family and knew exactly how to court a girl. Every time they met, he brought her a bouquet of flowers and a gift.
Sometimes it was a designer bag or necklace worth thousands of dollars. Other times, it was something small but thoughtful, like a handmade crochet flower or a carefully folded origami rose.
Whenever she had her period, he would bring her hot chocolate. Rain or shine, he made sure to walk her to class.
He gave her both financial and emotional attention, and in every way acted like the perfect, devoted boyfriend.
Mia fell for him quickly.
At the start of their relationship, they were inseparable, flaunting their romance in front of Lena and Charlotte every chance
they got.
Ian discovered that Mia was dating someone one weekend evening
Jersey City University was not far from the Quinton estate, and Mia sometimes came back on weekends. That night, Ian came home as well, hoping to see her.
Mia had just gone to take a shower, leaving her phone on the desk in her bedroom. Ian had brought her favorite snacks from outside their old high school.
He stepped into the room, heard the sound of running water from the bathroom, and figured she was showering. He planned to set the food down and leave, but at that moment her phone buzzed
Out of habit, he glanced at the screen.
One look and he froze. His heart seemed to stop.
The message was from someone saved under the name “Baby.”
“Baby, I just got out of the shower. Kiss, kiss. I miss you so much.
Ian stared at the message, his fist tightening until his knuckles tuned white. He stood there in silence, unmoving, unable to speak.
It was impossible to tell how long he stayed like that.
When Mia came out of the shower, she jumped in surprise.
“Ian? What are you doing here?”

She had a towel wrapped around her and a shower cap on her head
“You’re dating someone?” Ian’s voice was flat. His back was still to her, and his tone revealed nothing.
“How do you know?” Mia hurried over, grabbed her phone, and gave him a guarded look. “Did you go through my messages?”
A cold smile touched Ian’s lips. “I came by to drop off your favorite snacks. Then I saw a message from your ‘Baby.“”
He bit down hard on the word “Baby“, as if the person it referred to was his worst enemy.
When Mia noticed the snacks on the desk, her eyes lit up. “Wow, you got me my favourite pastries. Fine, I’ll forgive you for reading my messages.
Ian’s expression stayed dark. “You just started college and you are already dating?”
“So what if I am?” Mia shot back. “In two months I will be nineteen. I am already an adult. Who are you to tell me I cannot?”
He let out a short, humorless laugh and stepped closer, locking eyes with her.
Speaking slowly and deliberately, he said, “Are you really that desperate for a man? Hmm?”
