Unfortunately, the foreign doctors had told her that her bone structure wasn't compatible with Zara's features, and forcing the procedure would carry a massive risk of failure.
That was the only reason the girl had given up on the idea.
She wanted to look beautiful, not botched.
If she ended up looking worse, she would be relentlessly mocked by her entire social circle the moment she returned home.
She wouldn't have been able to handle the humiliation.
However, her gaze soon locked onto Claire.
It seemed she had just found her new surgical inspiration.
If she had seen Claire last year before going under the knife, she absolutely would
have brought her picture to the clinic instead.
She wondered if the doctors could make her look like Claire.
If they weren't in a crowded public space, she would have secretly snapped a picture to send to her surgeon immediately.
What a shame.
"You can't coast through life on a pretty face. No matter how gorgeous you are, Preston Dalton still fell for your cousin instead of you, didn't he?"
The girl definitely knew exactly where to strike to cause maximum damage.
Preston was Zara's ex-fiancé. After he fell for Zoe, he relentlessly hounded his family until they agreed to call off the engagement.
Zara had been ruthlessly ridiculed by a flock of fake friends because of that scandal.
Zoe, on the other hand, was hailed as the ultimate winner.
Yet, in a masterstroke of manipulation, Zoe had actually rejected Preston, claiming she could never steal her cousin's fiancé.
Because of that exact rejection, Preston absolutely loathed Zara.
He convinced himself that Zara was the one sabotaging things behind the scenes, making Zoe too guilty to accept him.
But the reality? Zoe was just keeping him on the hook.
Preston was far from her only suitor, and until she secured the ultimate prize, Zoe had no intention of letting any of her backups go.
She played the tragic martyr solely to make Preston even more hopelessly devoted to her.
It was a calculated move that left Rose's family with nothing to criticize.
Even if they wanted to direct their anger at Zoe, they had no valid reason.
She hadn't actually agreed to date Preston, after all.
They could control Zoe, but they certainly couldn't control Preston's unrequited obsession.
It was human nature-people always desperately chased what they couldn't have.
Zara's face turned completely black
at the mention of him. "Let me
repeat myself one more time. I do not care about that piece of trash, Preston
"Who he likes is none of my damn business!"
Speak of the devil, and he shall appear. Preston arrived at that exact moment.
He caught the tail end of Zara's outburst.
Seeing both Zara and Zoe standing there, he immediately assumed Zara was bullying his beloved.
"Zara, I don't care if you like me or not, but leave Zoe out of this."
"Zoe is already devastated enough over everything that happened. Our engagement
was canceled a long time ago. Why are you still harassing her?"
Zara fought the urge to roll her eyes. She glared at Preston in sheer disbelief. "Did you even hear a single word of our conversation before jumping in to defend your precious goddess?"
"How exactly am I harassing her?"
"She's literally standing right here, perfectly fine!"
Zara almost felt sorry for herself. How on earth had she ever agreed to marry a guy like this?
Now she was paying the ultimate price—the mistakes of her youth were coming back to stab her in the back.
"Who else would be causing trouble here?"
"We broke off the engagement forever ago. Why are you still so obsessed with this?"
Zara actually did roll her eyes this
tinicolon, why don't you take a
veľ
good look in the mirror? What' makes you think to be obsessed. with you?"
"Where do you even get this delusional confidence?"
"You didn't hear a damn thing we said, but you immediately stepped in to play Zoe's knight in shining armor."
"How about we go pull the security footage for the hall and see what actually happened!"
Zara had learned that little trick from Claire.
If they could pull the footage in the school cafeteria, there was no reason they
couldn't do the same in a high-end venue like this.
