It was a pure coincidence that the person he was asking was Silas Zeller, Zara Zeller's cousin.

Silas was still in college too. Unlike his cousin, he attended Metropolitan University.

He and Ewan Harding had grown up together and were incredibly close.

After Ewan's accident, Silas visited him whenever he had free time.

Initially, however, Ewan couldn't accept reality and refused to see his friends.

Silas would just hang around his house for a bit before leaving.

Ewan locked himself in his room, isolating himself completely from the world.

Even though Silas had free rein of Ewan's mansion, he couldn't exactly break down the bedroom door.

"Why are you asking about this girl, man?"

Silas felt like he had heard the name before.

It rang a bell.

"I heard she's a med student at The Cabinda University. Didn't your cousin get in there?"

"Ask her to poke around and see what Claire's deal is."

"You have no idea, Silas. My grandfather has lost his mind. He found a med student to look at my legs."

"A student. She claims she can cure me and make me walk again."

"Would you believe it if you were me?"

Silas remained silent.

He suddenly remembered exactly who Claire was.

She was Zara's roommate, and basically a close friend.

Zara never stopped raving about Claire.

She had even forced him to help her snag the Experimental Scar Gel produced by Claire's cousin's company.

It was constant, glowing praise, all the time.

"I believe it." Even though he didn't know why Ewan's grandfather had sought Claire out, what if she really could do it?

More importantly, Claire had sparked Ewan's curiosity, which gave Silas hope that his friend was finally coming around to the idea of recovery.

As long as it meant his best friend might walk again—or at least accept treatment— Silas was going to vouch for her, regardless of whether she could actually pull it off.

"You don't believe it either, right? I'm telling you, my grandfather is insane... wait, what did you say?"

Ewan thought he had misheard.

"I said I believe it. I know who she is," Silas said, raising his voice.

For a split second, Ewan wondered if his own best friend had been bought off by his grandfather.

"You know her? How?"

Silas sighed. "Because my cousin is her roommate. She's a prodigy at the med school."

"Zara says she's incredible."

"She wouldn't lie to me about that."

Ewan choked on his words. He had accidentally asked about Zara's roommate. What were the odds?

"It really is a small world. And as for Claire..."

Silas proceeded to parrot all the exaggerated praise he'd heard from Zara right back at Ewan.

Listening to it, Ewan grew even more suspicious that his friend was on the payroll.

"Silas, have you been talking to my grandfather lately?" It wasn't that he wanted to be paranoid, but Silas was sounding way too suspicious.

They were best friends; they knew each other inside and out.

"Ewan, you're getting ridiculously paranoid."

"Look, I haven't met her myself, but based on what Zara says, she's the real deal."

"If you let this chance slip, you might not get another."

"Think about it."

"I've got a class to get to. I'm hanging up."

Great!

Silas hung up on him!

Ewan wanted to curse him out, but Silas hadn't even given him the chance.
