As she and Dane stepped outside, the grounds were completely deserted.
Snowflakes had begun to fall at some point, blanketing the ground in a thin layer of white.
Claire caught a flake in her palm. "It's snowing!"
Dane nodded. "Are you cold?"
Claire was bundled up in a fluffy coat today, the snow-white collar highlighting her radiant complexion.
But the temperature drop between the indoors and outdoors was severe, leaving her hands feeling a bit frosty.
"My hands are a little chilled," she admitted honestly.
Dane took her hands in his.
"How about now?"
His fingers were smooth and his palms broad, radiating a steady, comforting heat into her skin.
Claire instinctively tried to pull back, but Dane held her firmly in place.
She gave in and let him hold her. "Much better."
They walked side by side in companionable silence, neither of them suggesting they
head back, leaving two parallel sets of footprints in their wake.
There wasn't a soul in sight; the snowfall had chased everyone indoors.
But beneath the warm, amber glow of the streetlights, the man and woman looked like a scene pulled straight from a painting.
Even their silhouettes were strikingly beautiful.
A random passerby happened to snap a photo of the moment and posted it online with a single caption: Snowy night in Cabinda.
Many people saw the man and woman in the picture, and despite only seeing their backs, they couldn't help but marvel at how deeply in love the couple seemed.
[Taking a stroll in the snow is so romantic. Where's my soulmate? I want to go look at the snow too!]
[Ugh, you can tell just from their physiques that they're a perfect match. Where did the OP take this? I want to go bump into them!]
[It's a good thing it's snowing. If it were raining knives, let's see who'd dare to show off their PDA outside.]
[They're not necessarily showing off. They might just be taking a post-dinner walk.] [Hold on, did you guys notice the architecture in the background? That street looks like The Eastside Enclave. Those are all luxury single-family estates over there.]
[Got it. The people in the photo are rich, the poster is rich, and I'm the only broke loser here.]
[Seeing those coats... I'm pretty sure I saw these two today. That's my boss and our future boss lady.]
[Knew it. Obviously high society. The guy above me has a verified
employee tag for Vertex

International. Do teven need to spell out who his boss and the boss lady are?]

Soon after, people started digging up photos of Vertex International's Mr. Green.
There were plenty of leaked photos from his appearances at business galas, along with clips from financial interviews.
Claire, however, remained unidentified for the time being.
Claire had no idea that someone would manage to identify them just from their backs.
Then again, they had literally just visited Dane's company
headquarters that afternoon
made sense that an employee might spot them
The two of them strolled around for half an hour until Claire was no longer uncomfortably full, then hurried back inside.
Along the way, a few passing cars from the neighborhood had rolled down their windows to greet Dane.
Dane was perfectly polite, acknowledging everyone without being dismissive.
Once back indoors, Claire administered Baldrick's acupuncture session.
After the session wrapped up, Dane drove her back to her place.
Claire had to head back to the lab the next day to tie up the final few loose ends of her project.
Once that was done, she fully intended to check out for winter break.
It was right around then that Meiko Fujii called her again.
"Claire, could you squeeze in one last consultation for me before the holidays?"
"I got my period this time, and my stomach is cramping a bit."
Claire frowned slightly. "Sure. Are you coming over to my place, or...?"
In the past, Meiko usually scheduled their sessions at Claire's house.
Claire had no reason to refuse.
It was just a little strange. The
holidays were practically here, yenet
managed to
Meike still had ear
with Sloane Sterling.
Was she planning on skipping out on returning to Sundara for the winter break?
Or was she refusing to go back to Sundara until she finally convinced Claire to treat her mentor?
