"So what if she got hit? Leave it be," Pandora said.
It wasn't that the old woman was cold-hearted; it was just that her adopted granddaughter was too ungrateful.
If the girl hadn't made her gold-digging tendencies so glaringly obvious back then, Pandora wouldn't have refused to lend a hand when she was down on her luck.
Some people were just like that-blaming everyone and everything, but never themselves.
It was clearly their own fault, yet they always pointed fingers at others.
Cindy left Hearth & Kettle, albeit very reluctantly.
As soon as she walked out, she received a call from York.
"Cindy, that apartment is being sold. Find a place and move out."
Cindy felt a sharp pang in her chest. If he had just told her to move, she could have dragged her feet, but now he was saying it was being sold.
"York, why is the apartment being sold?"
"The location is so good, and it's convenient for your commute. I know someone doesn't want me living there."
"I can move out, but you don't have to sell the place."
"I've actually already been looking for a new place to move."
"I usually stay on campus anyway, so I don't need to live off-campus, just during the holidays."
"I just haven't found the right place yet. Once I do, I'll move immediately!"
Before making the call, York had promised Tabitha James that he would handle the issue with Cindy.
He was to sell the apartment within a week.
He had made the promise, and of course, he wasn't going to break it.
Otherwise, if The James Family caught him slipping up, who knew what kind of trouble would ensue.
"Then move to campus for now. I remember Lance's apartment is still available. Didn't you live there during high school?"
"You can move your things to his place."
Cindy's face paled. She hadn't expected York to be so unfeeling.
Lance's apartment had already been sold.
To pay off debts and fund Lance's medical care, it had been sold to cover the James
father and son's daily living expenses.
"My brother's apartment was sold."
Cindy's voice trembled with impending tears.
She really wanted to cry.
This was her fiancé.
But when York was ruthless, he was no different from Pandora.
She had lived in The James Village for eighteen years. She had gone to that old woman, bearing a handprints on her face, yet the woman hadn't softened.
Now York was just as heartless, demanding she move out in three days. Where could she possibly go?
When she first returned to The James Family, her mother had indeed bought her a house.
But that place wasn't habitable yet; it hadn't been renovated.
Cindy was completely overwhelmed with anxiety.
She knew where Latham and Lance lived, but she didn't have the face to go stay with them.
As for her biological father... Cindy
touched her face. Her real father and
his wife hadn't divorced at all. They
had children together and they wouldn't be separating anytime soon.
It was even more impossible for her to move into his house.
After turning it over in her mind, the only place she could go was the campus dorms.
"Why was his apartment sold? Where are they living then?"
"Can't you just move back home for now?" York frowned.
He had clearly forgotten that Cindy had told him she could no longer live with The James Family.
Cindy forced a bitter smile. "York, it's
notate for me to move back
there But dont worry won't Overstay my welcome at your place."
"I know the difficult position you're in."
Cindy thought of the new backup guy she had found at school, so she didn't feel the
need to cling to York right now.
After all, if she kept pushing, she would be the one to lose out.
The James Family had money, and money was exactly what The Byron Family desperately needed right now.
So no matter how much she begged, York was destined to abandon her for wealth.
