"You don't want a divorce, yet you act like this?"
Seb had completely run out of patience with his mother today.
After everything he had said to her, including a massive argument they had a few days ago, she still hadn't reflected on her actions.
He didn't know what kind of glory she thought she would get from marrying his sister off to an older, divorced man!
"How am I acting out?"
Tiffany was full of grievances. "You Churchills look down on people. When my nephew got into trouble, I asked Patti for a favor, and she flatly refused."
"Padgett was even more arrogant."
"They won't even help with a little thing like this, so how could they ever plan for your sister's future?"
"That man might be a little old, but he has strong connections. If she marries him, your sister will be the wife of a high-ranking official."
"In the end, Padgett's family might even have to beg us for favors!"
"Seb, I'm paving the way for you too. Why can't you understand me?"
Tiffany was truly heartbroken.
If her most beloved son didn't understand her, what had she been doing all these years?
"Should I understand you, or should I understand your family while I'm at it?"
Seb sneered. "Don't think I don't know. Over the years, the allowance my uncles and grandparents gave us was less than a fraction of what you gave back to them."
He and his sister would get a hundred dollars at their grandparents' house, and their mother would turn around and hand them thousands.
The Churchills were wealthy, but that wasn't an excuse for his mother to funnel it all to the Byrons.
If their grandparents treated them well, it wouldn't be an issue.
But Seb remembered how his grandparents often took their uncle's kids aside to eat special treats secretly.
The moment they saw him and his sister, they would quickly hide the food.
That kind of behavior disgusted him.
He didn't lack food or money; he just despised their attitude!
"You hold such a grudge? Are you going to remember a little childhood slight for the rest of your life?"
Tiffany not only failed to see anything wrong with her parents but also thought her son was being too petty.
"Your grandparents' financial situation can't compare to ours."
"They're already doing their best. By being so calculating, you're not treating them like family!"
Seb really didn't want to reason with his mother anymore. In her eyes, her family was the only reason that mattered!
She and her kids suffered so many losses because of her family, yet she didn't care at all.
On her husband's side, just because the main branch didn't give his sister the marriage alliance that wasn't hers to begin with, his mother completely denied all the good things they had done for his sister the past.
"How is that the same? You and your sister carry the Churchill name, not the Byron name!"
"Isn't it normal for the Churchills to plan for you?"
When Tiffany said this, Seb finally understood her twisted logic.
Because they were Churchills, the Byrons were allowed to treat them poorly.
But the Churchills were obligated to treat them unconditionally well.

"We really can't afford to have a mother like you."

Tiffany was so angry she almost passed out. "Is that really what you think of me?"

Tiffany believed that what she gave to her family was just pocket change, while the
bulk of it was saved for her own children.
Especially her son, who was the apple of her eye!
When she first had a daughter, she was worried about her position being unstable.
