Claire didn't dare charge right at him. Instead, she bolted into the kitchen and grabbed two knives.
A chef's knife and a heavy meat cleaver.
Her kitchen might have been mostly for show, but her cutlery set was dangerously complete.
Hanson Patton had barely slipped on the disposable shoe covers when he saw Claire marching out with two massive blades, the cleaver looking exceptionally sharp and heavy.
She was actively trying to shove it into Hillary's hands.
Hanson's face darkened. "Claire, are you trying to help Hillary murder her own boyfriend?"
Claire froze. "Wait, what? Are you actually Hanson?"
"Hahaha, yes, it's really him." Hillary bent over laughing. "I asked him to bring us some food."
"I didn't trust a random delivery driver right now," Hillary explained.
But Claire's attention had entirely shifted. "What do you mean, murder your boyfriend? What's going on between you two?"
Burning with curiosity, she quietly retracted the meat cleaver she had just tried to arm Hillary with.
Honestly, Hillary didn't even need a cleaver.
But since she was just in her pajamas, Claire was worried she lacked a proper weapon.
"I appreciate the hyper-vigilance, Claire. I'm Hillary's boyfriend. Officially approved by the elders and everything."
Hanson stepped inside and set the bags of food on the dining table.
"I grilled this myself at the BBQ stand, picking out all your favorites. Eat it while it's hot," Hanson said, turning his attention entirely to Hillary.
Claire stood there awkwardly.
I shouldn't have come out. I shouldn't have said I was hungry. I should just go back to my room and give you two some space.
"Should I grab a blanket so Hanson can sleep on the living room floor tonight?"
"Haha, no need. He's leaving in a minute."
Hillary dug into the food while gesturing for Claire to join her.
"Hanson and I grew up together, but we definitely didn't have this kind of relationship
back then. This guy decided to make a move on his childhood friend!"
Hanson shot Hillary a loaded look. "It wasn't that you didn't want to date a childhood friend; you were jus busy obsessing over the hottest guy in school."
Thank god Norris Churchill had zero interest in dating little girls and only cared about math!
There was clearly something wrong with the Churchill family DNA, their obsession with mathematics was hereditary.
"I was just a fan! Look at how many people obsess over celebrities nowadays."
"I was just doing the same thing!"
This time, Hillary didn't get defensive. In fact, she sounded downright righteous.
Hanson gave her a look. Tsk, someone's getting bold.
Once they had almost finished
evanson gathered all the
takeout boxes and even took
trash out with him on his way down.
After Hanson left, Claire just stared at Hillary, grinning in silence.
Hillary flicked her on the forehead. "Wipe that smirk off your face. Don't you have a fiancé of your own?"
"But you two are childhood sweethearts," Claire smiled.
Hillary rolled her eyes. "You inherited an arranged marriage. That's way more interesting than us."
Claire's smile froze.
She realized Hillary made a painfully valid point.
Her inherited engagement was definitely a lot less amusing than Hillary's situation.
"Um, Hillary, I'm full. I'm going to go wash up. You should get some rest too."
Seeing Claire flee the scene so quickly, Hillary didn't press the issue.
The kid had classes tomorrow, so getting to bed early was a good thing.
However, when Claire went to class the next morning, she noticed Priscilla wasn't there.
She immediately called her.
Priscilla was wailing on the other end of the line.
"I'm in the infirmary."
"It hurts so much!"
