"Mom, I'm not Dad. That trick won't work on me."
Felix was being completely ruthless.
Claire instinctively glanced at the people in front of her.
She saw the mother clutching her stomach, her face drained of all color. Assuming
she was lying, her son didn't even bother to look at her.
If he had just looked, he would have realized something was terribly wrong.
"I'm not faking. It really hurts."
Unable to bear it any longer, the mother collapsed into a crouch on the floor.
Claire couldn't help but interject. "Hey, I think your mom is genuinely in pain. She doesn't look like she's faking it."
Only then did Felix Ingram finally look down at his mother.
"Mom, are you really sick?"
Mrs. Ingram looked up at him pitifully. "I told you my stomach hurt, and you didn't believe me!"
"I'm taking you to the hospital!" Felix's coldness instantly morphed into frantic panic. "But I haven't even gotten my drink yet!" Mrs. Ingram protested weakly, frustrated that she had waited in line for nothing.
Claire could tell instantly—this woman was an absolute foodie.
Skylar whispered, “Ma'am, your health is a little more important right now. You need
to get to the hospital! We'll taste-test the boba for you!"
Mrs. Ingram looked at Skylar. "You make a very good point, sweetie, but I..."
"No 'buts.' We're going to the hospital!"
Felix reached down, preparing to heave his mother over his shoulder.
"Don't move her yet! She's in too much pain!" Claire quickly stopped him, seeing how reckless he was being.
Felix furrowed his brows. "Then what am I supposed to do?"
"If you trust me, I can help stop the pain temporarily. It'll take at least ten to fifteen minutes for an ambulance to get here anyway."
"Claire!" Despite her usually bubbly nature, Skylar quickly tried to pull Claire back.
You couldn't just go around offering medical help willy-nilly!
What if something happened and she got blamed for it?
"Are you sure you can do this?" Zara also looked highly skeptical.
Because of Mrs. Ingram's cries of pain, everyone in the queue was now staring at them.
The manager of the boba shop rushed out from behind the counter.
"Ma'am, do you need me to call 911 for you?"
The manager was secretly relieved the woman was only in line and hadn't actually bought a drink yet.
Otherwise, if she claimed the boba gave her a stomach ache, his business would be ruined.
"Has anyone called them yet?"
Mrs. Ingram was in agonizing pain and looking incredibly frail.
"I'm calling them right now." Felix already had his phone out.

"Ma'am, I've studied traditional medicine. If you're willing, bean use a simple technique to help relieve the pain for now."

"Will it work?" Mrs. Ingram asked, her face pale. "Can you tell what's wrong with me?"
"I have a pretty good idea." Claire reached out to press on Mrs. Ingram's abdomen.
Felix intercepted her hand. "What are you doing?"
He didn't exactly trust a girl who looked the same age as him to treat his mother.
He trusted real doctors.
"I'm just doing a quick check. Relax." Claire met Felix's gaze steadily.
"Can you actually treat her?" Felix remained suspicious.
"Felix, just let the girl take a look. I'm dying over here."
"Desperate times call for desperate measures, I guess!"
Skylar and Zara exchanged exasperated looks. *Ma'am, please don't say that right now!*
"Claire, do you really know what
you're doing? Don't get yourself into
trouble!" Zara might have seemed
arrogant, but she genuinely cared about Claire.
They were roommates, after all!
Claire reached out again, and this time, Felix didn't stop her.
She quickly pressed several points on Mrs. Ingram's abdomen. “Does it hurt here, ma'am?"
"I don't think so." Mrs. Ingram shook her head.
"What about here?" She moved to another spot.
"Ow, ow, ow! Yes!" Mrs. Ingram cried out.
Claire then picked up Mrs. Ingram's wrist to check her pulse, quickly
