I walked into Blair and Grayson’s house in a better mood than I had any right to be.

Nico was in the kitchen, eating leftover something and scrolling his phone like he lived there now.

Perfect. He was exactly who I wanted to see.

He looked up and grinned. “Well. Look who it is.”

He pointed the fork at me. “How did things go with Luca?”

“We didn’t get to finish our little date at the wedding.” I leaned on the counter, trying to sound casual. “I was wondering if you could give me his number.”

Nico’s eyebrows went up. He set the fork down like this required both hands. “Olivia Monroe. Asking for Luca Vescari’s number. Well isn’t this something.”

“Do you have it or not?”

He chuckled. “I do not know why women fall for Luca so fast. Is it the car? The accent? The fact that he looks like he would ruin your week and then send flowers?”

I rolled my eyes. If only he knew I was not falling. I was using him. I wanted Roman jealous. I wanted a reaction. And I did not plan on a movie date. I planned on taking Luca to a club, dancing on him, and hoping someone posted it. I wanted Roman to see it the way I had seen Eden on his arm.

The thought sent a spark through me I refused to call excitement. It was. It was also spite.

“I am not falling,” I said.

“That is what they all say.” Nico leaned on the island, delighted. “Two girls in Monaco said it. I think a waitress in Milan said it while he was still sitting down. You want me to add you to the list?”

“I want a number, Nico. I’m not asking the man to marry me.”

“You want a grenade.” He thumbed his phone, still amused. “You sure? I told you. Reputation. The whole circus. He does not do quiet. He does cameras. He does afterparties. Dirty ones girls like you are definitely not prepared for.”

“I remember. You warned me already.”

“Do you?”

“Yes, all I want is a number Nico.”

Nico sent the contact anyway, shaking his head. “Do not say I did not warn you. And if Grayson asks, I was never here feeding you FI F-boys phone numbers. I was eating cold pasta and minding my business.”

He walked off toward the backyard, calling over his shoulder, “wear something short if you want to impress Luca. You never know, maybe you’d be the one to finally get him to settle down.”

The door shut.

Impress Luca? That was the last thing on my mind.

Blair sighed when I told her what I was planning to do. She was lying on the sofa, with her feet on a pillow.

“Are you sure you want to do this?”

“Yes.” I locked Luca’s number onto my screen. “It’s payback time.”

Blair rubbed her stomach absently, frowning. “I do not think this will end well.”

“Roman called this on himself.” The words came out of me. “He brought her into our house. He apologized like that fixed it. He stood at my door and said sorry while she waited downstairs. He can watch me date too.”

“Olivia.” Her voice gentled. “Luca is not a harmless prop. He will take the invitation and run with it.”

“Good. Let him.”

“That is not good. Just be careful okay. I am worried about you and the lengths you’re willing to go to get Roman’s attention. You really don’t need to do all the extra stuff. You already have it.”

I dropped onto the stool across from her.

could already see it. Dark club. Music too loud. Luca’s hand at my waist in a place Roman would not be happy about. A photo. A tag. The look on Roman’s face when he finally saw it.

I was suddenly very excited.

Blair watched me for a long second. She knew this version of me. She had been this version of me, once, throwing herself at a game just to make a man look. She would not judge me but I could understand why she was a bit worried.

“Just be careful,” she said. “And walk with extra security. Dad will lose his mind if you go to a club with Vescari and no one is watching the door. I will too.”

“I can handle a club.”

“You can handle a club. You cannot handle Roman seeing you grind on the man he already punched and then pretending you do not care what he does next.” She pointed at me. “Security. Public place. You text me when you get there and when you leave. If Luca gets handsy in a way you do not like, you walk. Payback is not you getting uncomfortable.”

I nodded, because she was right and I hated that she was right.

“Fine. Security. Check-ins. You worry too much.”

“And you are doing this to make him jealous,” Blair said. “Say it out loud so you do not lie to yourself halfway

through the night.”

I wasn’t trying to deny it.

I stared at Luca’s name on my phone. The letters looked like a dare.

“I am doing this to make him jealous.”

Blair exhaled. “Then do not be shocked if it works. Men like Roman do not stay calm when they see you with someone they already hate. That driveway punch was not a coincidence.”

I wanted it to work.

That was the ugly part.

The exciting part too.

I saved the number, already typing a message I would send before I could lose my nerve.

You still owe me a night that is not a parking lot.

Roman had Eden.

I could have a club, a camera, and the one man guaranteed to get under his skin.

For the first time since seeing him with Eden, I felt like I could breathe.

I couldn’t believe I was actually going to do this.
