Chapter 165

OLIVIA-

Blair’s house the next morning felt like a crisis with good coffee.

Grayson was on the phone in the kitchen. Nico stood at the island with both hands in his hair

Blair looked like she had not slept. The scanned baby photo on the fridge watched all of us like it also had an opinion.

Nico ran a hand down his face. “I cannot believe I have to marry her because she could not keep herself out of a scandal.”

I rolled my eyes. “You are the one who gave me Luca’s number.”

His head snapped up. “I never would have given you his number if I knew it ended with me being forced to marry you.”

“Then next time attach a warning label. May result in holy matrimony.”

“Next time do not use my friend to blow up my life!”

“He is not your friend. You called him an F-boy and handed him over like a party favor.”

Nico pointed at me. “You asked. And I can call him anything since he’s my friend.”

“You sent it.” I reminded him.

Blair held her head with both hands. “Yeah. These two cannot get married. I cannot listen to this every day of my life. Grayson, please find a way to stop this wedding.”

Grayson ended the call and set the phone down like it had personally disappointed him. “I am already on it. I will do everything in my power. A forced marriage is not happening to my brother.”

That should have sounded comforting. It sounded like a man who had already tried two doors and found William Monroe behind both of them. My father would do everything to stop us from stopping the wedding. He had all the money in the world and the connections that came with it.

“On it how?” I asked.

“Talking to my father. Talking to yours. Talking to anyone who could help change their minds.”

Grayson looked at his brother. “Do not post anything. Do not joke about it. Do not do anything that will make them speed up the wedding.”

Nico scoffed. “I am trying to stay on a plane to Monaco. Maybe that is my ticket out of this mess.”

“Good,” I said. “Go. Stay. Win. Live your life. I will fix things here.”

Blair made a noise that was half laugh, half sob. “You see? There are certainly ways to stop this wedding. Everyone stop freaking out.”

She was the one freaking out the most.

“You would not,” I said. He narrowed his eyes at me.

Grayson pinched the bridge of his nose. “Dad thinks this fixes the Vescari headlines. William thinks it matches the last alliance. Neither of them asked if you two can stand in a room without arguing.”

“We cannot,” Nico and I said together, then glared at each other for the timing.

Blair pointed at both of us. “That. That is the entire marriage. I want a divorce and it’s not even my marriage.”

Nico leaned on the counter, still annoyed, still Nico. “Return Luca’s number. It is clearly causing all this trouble. Delete it. Block it. Bury the phone. I do not care. Just get Vescari out of this family before I am wearing a tux because of him.”

I pulled out my phone and held it up. “You want to watch me do it? Make it ceremonial?”

“Yes,” he said. “I want a witness.”

Blair looked at Grayson. “If they get married I am moving to the beach house permanently.”

“You hate the wifi there,” Grayson said.

“I will suffer. I will raise this child on bad signal before I watch Olivia marry your brother because dad collected another F1 driver to replace the F-boy he thinks his daughter is in love with.”

I stared at Luca’s name on the screen. The hotel. The articles. Then remembered Roman in the lobby. Dad’s office. Nico Shaw as a solution. My thumb hovered. This would not change a thing. Why was I even listening to that idiot?

Nico noticed I had not tapped delete.

“Olivia.”

“I heard you,” I said. “But I’m not going to do it just because you said so.”

He groaned at the ceiling. “I am going to crash in qualifying and it will still be her fault. If I am forced to marry her, I don’t think I’d ever win another race!”

“Don’t be dramatic,” Blair said automatically.

Grayson poured more coffee nobody needed. “William wants announcements this week. If Nico is in another country, we can stall it.”

“I have a race,” Nico said. “I can be in another country. I would like to remain unmarried in that country.”

“Then stay unmarried,” I said. “I am not walking down an aisle toward a man who steals food from my sister’s kitchen.”

“You walked into a hotel with Luca.” He reminded me. “Not a very smart thing to do.”

“You handed me Luca.”

ir put her forehead on the table. “Grayson. Faster. Please. Before they start exchanging vows made of insults.”

Grayson’s phone lit again. He looked at the screen, then at us, and the kitchen went quieter.

“Dad,” he said.

Nico swore under his breath.

I locked my phone without deleting anything.

This was a kitchen full of people who all wanted the same wedding not to happen and still had no proo they could stop it.

Blair reached for my hand under the table. Grayson answered the call. Nico stared at the ceiling.

End of the month was still on the calendar.

None of us were ready.
