Chapter 199
NUCA-
It was Alessia’s birthday and I looked like shit.
Marco arrived late, of course……
Eighteen looked good on her. The garden was full of people-family and friends.
I had not slept.

Not since I had seen Charlotte’s pretty pussy. I had never seen it before. Never crossed that line. I had never stayed up thinking about pussy like that.
Not a stranger’s. Not a model’s. This was new. Everything with Charlotte was new.
And now my brother was here, and the tension was back in my neck.
I knew she liked him. Her words never left me. Marco is kind of cute. I wouldn’t mind dating him. The thought of her liking him made me sick.
Was she thinking of him when she came apart in the guest room? Was he the one on her mind?
I felt like punching my own brother at that thought. I couldn’t help but feel irritated at him, especially since he’d taken her out for drinks that night in Monaco.
He stood in the garden in our sister’s arms, wishing her a happy birthday and I kept tracking where Charlotte was just how I tracked a car in the mirrors.
Marco found me by the drinks.
Took one look at my face and said.
“Fuck. Did you sleep in a hedge?” He asked me, he actually looked concerned.
I actually did not sleep. Not even for a minute. I wasn’t sure when I’d be able to sleep again. I’d seen things that would fucking haunt my cock for the rest of my life.
“Fuck off.”
He grinned. “How have things been back home? You are clearly in a bright mood. It must be going well.”
I could hear the sarcasm.
“Mom is already trying to set me up with a Moretti.” I informed him. “She gave her the room next to
mine.”
Marco winced. “If she’s doing that to you, then I’m sure she already has someone for me. It’s a good thing I came late. I will be leaving on the first flight tomorrow. I cannot deal with the matchmaking nonsense.”
He was older than me. And he’d managed to stay single all this time. That was a good sign that I could keep escaping it as well.

“That’s her.” I said as Valentina walked down the stairs, blushing when she saw the both of us looking at her.
boks like a trap.” He said without a second thought. “Our mother wants to start having grandchildren. Be careful with that one.”
“I am aware,” I told him. “I’m keeping my distance from this one.”
He laughed. “Shocking. You are capable of restraint?”
I thought about seeing Charlotte play with her pussy, I’d managed to walk away even though it was fucking painful.
“You will be surprised.”
Giulia appeared with champagne and no patience. “You two are hiding. Alessia can see you hiding. It’s her day. Pretend you like us for just one day!”
Dante slung an arm around Marco. “He likes us. He likes being late more.”
“I had important things to do,” Marco said.
“Sure.” I grinned.
He shot me a glare.
“You had an excuse,” Rico said. “And since you’re mama’s favorite, she let you get away with it.”
He wasn’t lying; Marco really was her favorite. Even though he didn’t pursue the dreams they had set for him, he still tried to kiss up to our parents to make up for it. I couldn’t be bothered anymore.
Elisa bumped my shoulder. “You should eat. You look pale.”
Sofia, from nowhere: “He looks like he saw a ghost.”
Close enough.
Alessia dragged all of us toward the cake table.
I watched the candles, counted them to make sure there were eighteen of them.
Charlotte stood a little apart with a glass of water, smiling at Alessia, not at me. I could still see last night if
I let my mind slip-dress shoved up, her finger, that sound in the pillow, and I had to look at the candles
instead.
Marco followed my eyes.
“Don’t,” I said.
“I didn’t say anything.”
“You’re thinking it.”
“I’m thinking you should sleep. And that mom is going to seat Valentina next to you at dinner and me next to whoever she pulled from a neighbouring estate.” He sipped. “We survive. We leave. We do not marry

whoever she chooses.”
ulia looked offended. “Some of us live in this country on purpose.”
“That’s because she hasn’t started controlling your life yet.” I snapped.

Dante laughed. Rico stole icing off the cake. Sofia told Alessia her dress was better than Giulia’s. If we didn’t break it up, the girls were about to fight.
For a minute it was just siblings, loud and stupid, the version of this house I could stand.
Then my mother called us to sit, and Valentina was already in a chair that had been saved/and Marco muttered, “Here we go,” like a man walking into a battlefield he was not prepared for.
I sat.
I did not look at Charlotte. Because if I did, I would drag her into one of those empty rooms and demand she touch herself in front of me. So I could get a much closer look this time.
Yeah. I could not afford to look at her.
