# Chapter 105: A Reluctant Groom’s Heartbreak

Hello, everyone, it’s me again! I hope you’re all doing well today. I’m so glad to be back with you as we walk through another intense, heart-wrenching episode of *The Untouchable Ex-Wife*. In Chapter 105, the storm around Renee, Liam, and Joanne reaches a terrifying new peak. A father’s obsession, a daughter’s one-sided love, and a selfless hero’s sacrifice all collide inside that cold fortress. If you’re ready, let me take you inside this emotional battlefield.

The air inside the guarded room was thick enough to choke on. Benjamin’s eyes burned with a mixture of rage and bitter disappointment as he stared down at Liam. Then, with a voice like a hungry wolf, he bellowed:

**“It looks like I’ve failed you far too much. You seem to think you’re indispensable, don’t you? Go ahead—be cocky.”**

Before he could finish his veiled threat, a gentle voice cut through his ire. Amber, his own daughter, stepped forward with tears shimmering in her big, watery eyes. Her lips trembled as she pleaded with her father.

“Dad, you… don’t be like this. A marriage can only be happy when both parties truly love each other. You can’t force people to marry like this!”

Benjamin, however, was in no mood for a daughter’s soft heart. He waved his hand dismissively and snarled, “Don’t get cocky. I’ll let them go… on one condition.”

His gaze swung over to Liam like a blade. He sneered and declared, “My daughter is willing to give up her life for you. It’s obvious that she loves you very much. So I want you to promise—right here, right now—that you will stay and marry her. If not, none of you are leaving this fort.”

Amber’s heart lifted at her father’s words. Misreading his cruelty as mercy, she smiled through her tears and said, “Dad, I knew you weren’t that cruel…”

But Benjamin only ignored her. His piercing glare remained fixed on Liam. “What do you think? Are you willing to marry my daughter?”

Liam frowned deeply, his chest tightening as conflict and hesitation tore through him. He had locked his heart to someone else long ago, and every instinct screamed that he could never be a true husband to a woman he didn't love. Yet, when his eyes flicked to pale little Joanne—the child in Renee’s arms—and then to Renee’s defiant face, he knew that his answer had already been decided. If he refused, they would all drown together in Benjamin’s madness.

Before he could speak, Renee stepped forward, holding Joanne close, and faced Benjamin with furious eyes.

“No! Do you think they’ll ever be happy in a forced marriage? Is this really necessary? How can love grow from fear and chains?”

Benjamin remained icily calm. “They won’t be happy—but my daughter will be satisfied. That makes it necessary.” He then looked at Liam with chilling approval. “Let’s forget what happened in the past. I like this kid. Even if he can’t be my son in the way I once hoped, I’ll still be very happy to call him my son-in-law. A wife in exchange for two lives—what a fine bargain. If you’re still unwilling, well, don’t blame me for being inconsiderate.”

The threat was unmistakable: agree, or watch everyone he cared about suffer.

Liam’s gaze swept over Joanne’s pale lips, then back to Renee’s worried expression. He lowered his voice and urged her urgently, “Boss, don’t oppose him. Take Joanne and leave now. Every minute matters—if you don’t rush her to a hospital, it’ll be too late. We’ll lose all our options once her condition becomes critical.”

Renee shook her head, clutching Joanne tighter as if letting go of Liam would be like abandoning a part of herself. “No, I can’t leave you here alone! We either leave together or die together! I won’t sacrifice you, Liam. Never!”

Liam’s voice softened, but his resolve didn’t crack. “There’s no need for such unnecessary loyalty,” he said gently. “I just need to stay here and become his son-in-law. That’s not such a terrible fate, is it? Besides, Amber is a charming and devoted young woman. Marrying her is hardly a loss for me. But if you keep wasting time, Benjamin might regain his senses and change his mind. Then none of us will escape.”

Renee’s voice trembled as she protested, “But… you don’t love her. You…”

Liam managed a light smile, hiding the ocean of sadness beneath his words. “Well, I can’t marry the one I truly love anyway. What if one day I actually fall for her? Perhaps this marriage will turn out to be a blessing in disguise for me.”

For a moment, Renee had no reply. Her throat burned with guilt and grief. How could Liam talk about such a heavy sacrifice as though he had won a lottery ticket? He always pretended to be carefree and optimistic, only to shield her from worry. Behind that smile, she knew, he would suffer his sadness and loneliness in silence.

Renee felt as though she had wronged Liam deeply. Over and over again, he had been the one giving up pieces of himself for her sake. Now he was even willing to chain his entire future to a loveless marriage just to buy her freedom. She had taken his sacrifices for granted for far too long.

As if to chase away her doubt, Liam added in a firm, soothing tone, “Don’t hesitate. There’s no more time. I’ll be fine—I promise. My future wife won’t let any harm come to me either…”

Those last words sent a sudden blush sweeping across Amber’s cheeks. Emboldened, she lifted her chin and faced Renee with a newfound courage. “Miss, you should leave with Joanne now. I promise… I’ll protect Liam well. You don’t have to worry. He’ll be safe with me.”

Renee clenched her fists, her face twisted in an unhappy scowl. She had been cornered, left without any other options—and she knew it. Her gaze lingered on Liam, stealing one last look at the man who was about to sacrifice everything for her.

Finally, through a forced, low voice, she said, “Fine… Okay, Liam. Hold on. Just hold on. I’ll be back—I swear it. I’ll come back and save you.”

With little Joanne in her arms and a heart full of unshed tears, Renee turned and walked away from that suffocating room, leaving Liam behind with the woman who loved him—and the storm already gathering in his future.

## Reader’s Impressions & Star Rating

Oh, this chapter absolutely broke me. Poor Liam—he’s always the quiet martyr, using humor and flippant words to hide the knife twisting in his chest. While Renee gets to escape with Joanne, Liam is walking into a cage, and worst of all, he’s doing it with a calm smile to spare her from guilt. I felt the weight of every word he spoke. And Amber, too—she isn’t a villain; she’s just a lovesick girl willing to accept a man who loves another. Benjamin, meanwhile, proves to be such a chilling opponent—he doesn’t need to shout or act rashly; he simply plays with lives like chess pieces. The tension, the emotional sacrifice, and the helplessness are brilliantly captured. It makes me ache for Liam, but also root for Renee to keep her promise and storm back into that fortress.

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.9 / 5 Stars

## Next Chapter Prediction

I predict that Renee won’t go far—or perhaps she will leave Joanne in safe hands and immediately seek outside help or an ally she had previously avoided. She might return to the fortress with even more dangerous backup, setting the stage for a confrontation that will shatter Benjamin’s control. Meanwhile, Liam will probably try to keep his distance from Amber, but Amber may use the engagement to force closeness, making Liam’s inner conflict deeper. And when Renee finally comes back, I wouldn’t be surprised if he has to choose once more between love and duty—with far higher stakes than ever before.
