# Chapter 276: The Battle of Hearts
Hello everyone, it's me again! How are you all doing? Today I will continue to walk with you and review Chapter 276 of "The Untouchable Ex Wife" — a chapter where teasing, tension, and unresolved feelings collide in a battle of wills between two people who just can't seem to stay apart.
---
Leia’s heart had barely recovered from the whirlwind of emotions when Xavier’s words struck her like a sudden storm. "Don't say that, we're not that close." The memories of the mountains came flooding back, making her feel hot with irritation. How dare he pretend they had some cozy relationship after everything that had happened? Yet the moment those words left her mouth, she knew she had opened a door she probably shouldn't have.
Xavier’s eyes sparkled with mischief, a dangerous smile curling on his lips. "How cruel! We slept together, didn't we? Of course that makes us close." His tone was light, teasing, as if he were reminding her of the most natural fact in the world — and the most infuriating one.
Leia felt her defenses crack as he slowly closed the distance between them, his gaze locking onto hers with an intensity that stole her breath. "I don't mind reminding you if you forgot how close we were," he murmured, his voice low and smooth. Every word was a trap, and she was falling right into it.
"How... are you going to do that?" she stammered, subconsciously leaning backward as his presence swallowed the space around her. Her heart pounded violently in her chest like a caged bird.
Trapped against the corner, she had nowhere to retreat. Xavier leaned over her, his whisper dangerously seductive. "I remember that my ex likes it when I kiss her against the wall. I don’t mind helping you remember if you've forgotten..."
Leia's face burned crimson. "Idiot!" She raised her hand to slap him, but he caught it effortlessly and tugged her into his warm, firm embrace. His breath danced near her ear as he whispered, "Aren't we close?"
Her heartbeat thundered. Her lips trembled as she bit them, unable to look at him. "I... I don't know."
"Don't make assumptions then," he said gently, tapping her nose with affectionate playfulness. "We're close."
A satisfied smile stretched across Xavier's face as he finally released her, stepping back as if he had won a small victory. Leia stood there, speechless, her fists clenched at her sides. She was furious with Xavier — but even angrier with herself for almost succumbing. He knew exactly how to dismantle her walls, leaving her defenseless in this quiet battlefield of love. Maybe it was his unshakable confidence, but every time they faced off, she felt powerless, like a pawn in his hands.
Forcing herself to calm down, she took a step back and glared at him. "What are you doing here? Don't tell me you came all this way just to say these boring things to me."
"I came to see my friend," Xavier replied casually, glancing at his watch. "But I think it's more important to talk to you since I've found you here." He looked up, his eyes gleaming. "Are you free? Let's have a drink in the cafe downstairs."
"No, I'm busy," Leia said flatly, turning to walk away. But before she could take two steps, Xavier grabbed her hand and pulled her toward the elevator. "No, you're free — trust me."
"Hey! Xavier, what are you doing? Let go of me!" Furious, Leia struggled against his iron grip, but he was unrelenting. Before she knew it, she was being dragged into the elevator, the doors sliding shut behind them like the closing of a cage.
When they arrived at the cozy cafe downstairs, Xavier calmly called out to a waiter. "One iced Americano and one Cappuccino, please."
Although they had only dated for a short time, he remembered everything about Leia's preferences — the way she took her coffee, the small things she loved, the little habits she thought no one noticed. Despite his carefree exterior, he seemed to have cared more deeply than he ever let on.
After taking her seat, Leia crossed her arms and glared at him impatiently. "What is it you want to talk about? Hurry up. I have things to do."
Xavier simply smiled, watching her with that maddening tenderness. He didn't appear to be in any rush at all. As the drinks arrived and the rich aroma of coffee filled the air, the tension between them hung like a delicate thread — waiting to be pulled, snapped, or wrapped around them both once again.

Reader's Impressions & Star Rating:
Ah, what an excruciatingly sweet torture this chapter was! The dynamic between Leia and Xavier is pure fire — every interaction sparks with unresolved tension and years of suppressed longing. Leia's internal conflict is beautifully written; she tries so hard to push him away, yet her heart betrays her every time he leans in close. And Xavier? He is shamelessly confident, but underneath his teasing lies a vulnerability — he remembers her coffee order, her preferences, the intimate details of their brief relationship. It shows he never truly let go. This chapter is perfect in its push-and-pull, frustrating yet captivating. I loved every second of their verbal and emotional sparring. The only thing keeping it from a perfect score is the sheer agony of waiting to see where this goes!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rating: 4.9 / 5 Stars
Next Chapter Prediction:
Now that Xavier has Leia cornered across a quiet cafe table, I predict the conversation will shift from playful teasing to something much more serious. He might finally address the real reason he sought her out — possibly about unfinished business in the mountains, a hidden danger, or even a confession of feelings he's kept buried. Leia, though guarded, will be forced to confront her own heart as he reveals something she never expected. And just when the emotional walls begin to crack, someone from the past might walk in and complicate everything further...
