# Chapter 536: The Return of the Weary Brother

Hello everyone, it's me again! How are you all doing? Today I will continue to walk with you and review Chapter 536 of "The Untouchable Ex Wife." This is a chapter of bruises, guilt, and a brother's long road back to himself. So, settle in, because the wounds here are not only on the skin—they reach deep into the heart.

The journey had been brutal. Every step of it had been carved out of danger, sweat, and blood.

Quinton Everheart had done what he had set out to do: he had retrieved the rare, life-saving items that would help Renee. But nothing worth having ever came easy, and the proof of that was written all over his body. Bruises bloomed across his arms. Cuts and gashes crisscrossed his skin. His muscles screamed with every movement, and the exhaustion buried in his bones was so heavy it felt like it would never lift.

Beside him, Chase was no better. He had suffered greatly too, every injury a silent testament to the peril they had faced. But they had made it. They had the items. And that was what mattered.

After securing what they had risked so much to obtain, the two men didn't waste a moment celebrating. They stopped only to patch up their wounds at a nearby hospital—quick, hurried treatment, nothing luxurious—and then they rushed back toward Beach City with every ounce of speed they could summon.

One thing gnawed at Quinton during the tense ride: Stefan. He had tried to reach him, called again and again, but there was no response. Not a single ring back. No message. Nothing.

Quinton closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and tried to reason with his own fear. *Maybe Stefan is in a place without signal,* he told himself. *Maybe he's just busy. Maybe everything is fine.*

But the worry refused to fully leave him.

Still, he cut the call. He had to stay calm. There were more pressing matters waiting at the end of this road. Renee. His sister. The manor.

And so, when Quinton finally arrived at Everheart Manor, he stood frozen at the entrance.

The grand gates loomed before him, familiar yet heavy, like the weight of his own conscience pressing down on his shoulders. He hesitated. He paused. He lingered outside that door for almost ten full minutes, wrestling with the storm inside his heart.

Why couldn’t he walk in?

Because he knew the truth. Because deep down, he knew he had failed her.

As Renee's brother—as the head of the Everheart family—he had been responsible for protecting her. That was his duty, his birthright, his unspoken promise to the family name. But what had he done instead? He had not protected her. He had not shielded her from harm. Worse than that, he had become a source of her pain. The very troubles that had descended upon her life were in so many ways connected to his own obsession, his own reckless quest for vengeance.

Quinton swallowed hard, his throat tight with regret.

"Mr. Everheart," Chase said cautiously from beside him, his voice gentle and uncertain. "Why aren't you going in?"

Quinton looked at the manor again, then lowered his gaze. He answered without any pretense, without hiding behind his usual cold mask. "I'm too ashamed to go in."

Chase was genuinely stunned. He had always known Quinton as a solemn, untouchable leader—a man of iron discipline, fierce determination, and barely a flicker of softness. To hear his boss admit weakness so openly, so honestly, was something Chase never expected. And yet, as he looked at Quinton now, Chase felt something shift in his chest. Touched. Perhaps even amazed.

Because the man in front of him had changed.

The Quinton Chase remembered had been radical and fierce. A man governed by hatred, whose eyes burned with the need for revenge and nothing else. He had seemed like an emotionless robot, marching forward toward one goal and one goal only. But now, standing here at the doorstep of his own family home, he looked... human. Vulnerable. Kind, even. He was no longer the cold machine of vengeance Chase had sworn to follow. He was a man filled with heartache and reflection.

And somehow, that made Chase respect him more.

Quinton lifted a hand, covering his face, his posture collapsing inward as he spoke with raw honesty. "I'm her brother. I should have protected her. I should have overcome every obstacle and hardship for her. But after we reunited..." His voice broke slightly, and he shook his head, looking utterly dispirited. "I didn't do any of that. I even made her suffer more! If I hadn't been so obsessed with taking revenge on Stefan, he would have been a powerful ally. There wouldn't have been so many troubles now."

These were words he had never spoken aloud. He had held them in for so long, locked behind walls of pride and stubbornness. Quinton had spent the vast majority of his life nursing his hatred and plotting his revenge. He never allowed himself to regret anything. Regret was a weakness, he believed. Regret was for those who lacked conviction.

But now? Now, knowing how much Renee had suffered, he couldn't hide from regret any longer. It crashed over him like a wave, drowning out all his former justifications.

Chase looked at his master with concern. He stepped closer, searching for words that could ease that heavy heart.

"Mr. Everheart, we can't foresee many things. Back then, you were a different person, but your love for Ms. Everheart remains unchanged. You are a good brother. You wanted to be nice to her, but you used the wrong method. You can be sad or regret it, but don't blame yourself too much..." Chase paused, then added softly, "I think Ms. Everheart wouldn't want you to. Don't you think so?"

Quinton remained silent, but Chase pressed on, not willing to let his master drown in guilt.

"I believe that Ms. Everheart won't blame you. And she'll be happy if she knows that you and I are back safely. It might even help with her recovery!"

At that, a flicker of light appeared in Quinton's eyes. For a moment, he looked almost like a small child searching for approval, hoping to hear that he had done well. "Yeah," Quinton murmured, the tension in his voice easing just a little. "She'll be very happy if she knows that I've found you."

Chase smiled, encouraged. "Plus, we even found the Western Hills Fruit and Northern Lake Anaconda. That means Ms. Everheart will be detoxified soon. You don't have to worry too much."

Quinton nodded slowly. The words sank into him, pushing away the shadows of doubt. "Yeah," he repeated, a fragile hope weaving into his voice. "Everything will get better."

Chase's words had breathed new courage into him. His sister needed him. His sister was waiting. And he still had time—time to make things right, time to be the brother he should have always been.

Finally, Quinton straightened his back. He took a breath. And with that renewed determination burning quietly inside him, he walked into the manor.

**Reader's Impressions & Star Rating:**

Oh, this chapter hit me right in the heart! I absolutely loved seeing this softer side of Quinton. For so long, he was this cold, revenge-driven figure, but now we get to see the guilt and regret he's been hiding. His hesitation outside the manor, his confession that he was too ashamed to go in, the way he covered his face—it made me feel so much sympathy for him. Chase's loyalty and kindness were beautiful too; sometimes all it takes is one person reminding you that you're still worthy of love. Seeing Quinton reclaim that hope, even in a small way, was deeply moving. The chapter was short but emotionally rich, and I'm desperate to know what happens when he finally sees Renee.

**Next Chapter Prediction:**

Now that Quinton has entered the manor with the rare antidote ingredients in hand, I predict we'll finally see an emotional reunion between him and Renee. But not everything can be smooth sailing—Stefan is still unreachable, and that silence is deeply worrying. I think the next chapter will reveal where Stefan is and why he hasn't responded, possibly throwing a new crisis their way right as hope seems within reach. Will Quinton's arrival bring healing, or will another storm be brewing in the shadows?
