Renee looked at Stefan with worried eyes. She knew exactly how complicated his world had become. After all, stepping back into the spotlight meant facing the mighty Murphy family, and Hunt Enterprise wasn't exactly a peaceful kingdom waiting for a happy king. There were external wolves at the door and internal snakes hiding in the shadows. So she said, trying to knock some sense into him, and also into her own fragile heart:

"You'll fall out with the Murphy family now that you're here. You'll have to deal with the external and internal conflicts of Hunt Enterprise. How will you have the energy to care about me?"

It wasn't just a question to challenge him. It was a shield she was building for herself. Renee had learned the hard way that wonderful things, especially wonderful people, could be taken away in an instant. She refused to let herself become used to his protection, because she knew the moment he turned away, the fall would shatter her all over again. Better never to have it, she told herself, than to have her heart broken when she lost it.

But Stefan didn't waver. He met her gaze and said firmly, "It's my business whether I can handle all that or not. I can't make any promises for now, but I guarantee that I'll try my best."

Then he took her hand. He held it tenderly, then squeezed it reassuringly, silently telling her that she wasn't alone anymore. Renee didn't pull away. For once, she chose to accept her fate in silence. The future was uncertain, heavy with worries she couldn't put into words. But in that moment, she decided to let nature take its course and breathe.

It was almost afternoon by the time they returned to the Everheart Manor. The sun was warm, and inside the house, an even warmer scene was waiting. Margaret had already picked the children up from kindergarten, and they were waiting at home for their mother. No one had expected that Renee would bring Stefan along.

And then Abby saw him.

Her little face lit up like fireworks on New Year's Eve. She screamed with pure, unrestrained excitement and rushed toward Stefan as fast as her little legs could carry her.

"Handsome Daddy, is it really you? Are you here to see us?"

Stefan's heart swelled. He bent down, scooped Abby up easily, and held her close. She had grown so much, he thought with a sigh. Her chubby, doll-like face had begun to slim into features that reminded him more and more of Renee. She was taller, too, but she still fit perfectly in his arms.

"Yes, Abby. I hope I'm not too late!"

But Abby's joy suddenly turned uncertain. She bit her lip and looked at him carefully. She had heard from Adie that Stefan had forgotten them, that he couldn't remember his own children, and she needed to know the truth.

"Daddy, do... do you remember who we are?"

Stefan hesitated. He looked into his daughter's trusting, hopeful eyes and felt a pang of guilt. She was too young to carry the sadness of rejection, and he had caused her that pain without even knowing it. But he had to be honest in a way she could understand.

"Well... Let's just say I had a long dream and became another person, and that person had forgotten about you. So I only remembered you after I woke up from that dream... I know it's unfair, but can you forgive me?"

His voice was gentle and full of remorse.

Abby blinked. Children are wonderful that way, the world can be crashing around them, but they focus on the heart of the matter simply and purely.

"A dream?" She tilted her head, then asked, with all the innocence in the world, "Was it a nightmare? Were you scared? Did people try to bully you?"

Stefan froze. He hadn't expected her to believe him so easily, and her sincere concern touched something deep inside him. He smiled helplessly and replied, "Umm... I don't know if it's considered a nightmare, but I felt muddle-headed, like a zombie. I always felt like I had lost something important, and only after I woke up did I realize that it was all of you."

Abby frowned deeply, as if thinking hard. Then she held Stefan's face in her small, chubby hands and looked at him seriously.

"Mmm, I won't blame you for it then... but I feel sad that I wasn't with you when you had that nightmare. Are you angry at me?"

Stefan felt his eyes sting. How could he ever be angry at her?

Abby's heart was too pure. Her mother and brother always stayed with her whenever she had a nightmare, hugging her and comforting her until the scary feelings went away. But Stefan had gone through his terrible dream all alone, without Abby, without Adie, without Renee. And when he returned without remembering them, they had scolded him. Now Abby felt as if she had wronged her father. She was supposed to protect him, too, the way they protected each other.

"Haha! There's no way I'd be mad at all of you, silly... I doted on you all too much for that," Stefan murmured, his heart so soft and full that he could hardly breathe.

He kissed Abby gently. She was a precious little angel, and he was the luckiest man alive that he could still hold her like this after everything he had been through. His children gave him warmth and strength. Adie's intelligence and Abby's tenderness were both his armor and his weakness, but they gave Stefan's lost soul a sense of direction again.

Just then, Adie spoke up from behind, his voice watchful and protective. "Come down, Abby. Stefan's still recovering from his surgery, so don't tire him."

Adie was always the cautious one. He saw the way Abby wriggled excitedly in Stefan's arms, and he worried about Stefan's fresh surgical wounds. But there was also distance in Adie's eyes. He remembered Stefan's betrayal in forgetting them, and he wasn't ready to forgive so easily.

Abby obediently jumped out of Stefan's arms. But then she reached for Stefan's hand, walked over to Renee and Adie, and said solemnly, her voice firm and serious beyond her years.

"Adie, you can't call Daddy by his name. It's rude. And he said that he'd forgotten us because of a nightmare. He didn't do it on purpose. Let's not be mad at him anymore..."

Adie pouted. His pride was as strong as his intelligence. "No, he's not that innocent. You're dumb, and you're fooled by him. He made a mistake and forgot about us, so I won't forgive him that easily."

He crossed his arms, his jaw tight. Adie wanted his father back, but he'd been hurt. Trust, once broken, demanded proof before being rebuilt. He wouldn't let Abby just hand it away so carelessly.

But Abby didn't back down. She looked at her stubborn brother and pleaded, "You said that he's injured, so we need to take care of him. You should be nicer to him too. What if you upset him and he forgets about us again?"

The words hung in the air. Even though Abby had been the one who sided with Adie before and refused to forgive Stefan, now that she had seen her daddy's sincere eyes and gentle words, her heart melted completely. She was terrified of one thing above all: losing him again. And she couldn't bear the idea that her brother's stubbornness might push Stefan away for good.

Adie stayed quiet. He didn't know what to say to that. He still wanted to hold onto his anger, but the fear of losing Stefan again was written all over Abby's face. And perhaps, deep down, Adie felt that same fear too.

The whole room fell into a soft, tender silence. A family that had been broken was gathered together again, holding their breath, waiting for the next step.

**Reader's Impressions & Star Rating:**

Oh, my heart! This chapter is absolutely precious. Watching Abby melt in Stefan's arms and forgive him with such pure, unconditional love is the kind of scene that makes you tear up. Abby's line about feeling sad she wasn't there during his nightmare truly melted my soul. And Adie's stubbornness is so wonderfully in character — he's tough, but you can see the deep hurt hiding beneath his coldness. Renee's quiet vulnerability with Stefan at the beginning was touching too. She's trying so hard to protect herself, but even she can't help letting him in a little. This chapter is tender, emotional, and beautifully paced. I loved every moment of it.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rating: 4.8 / 5 Stars

**Next Chapter Prediction:**

Now that Abby has successfully softened the atmosphere, the next chapter will likely focus on Adie's conflicted heart. I predict Stefan will try to earn his son's trust through actions, not just words. Maybe Stefan will take the children somewhere alone, or prove that he remembers the little details Adie thought he'd forgotten. Meanwhile, Renee is probably facing growing pressure from Hunt Enterprise and the Murphy family, and Stefan will have to balance both worlds. With children on his side, Stefan's fight to reunite his family may finally really begin.
