# Chapter 7: A Very Close Shave and an Even More Dangerous Question

Hello everyone, it’s me again! How are you all doing? Today, I will continue to walk with you and review Chapter 7 of “The Untouchable Ex Wife.” This chapter is such a rollercoaster—one moment I was laughing out loud, and the next, my heart was pounding in my chest. So grab a warm drink, settle in, and let’s experience every embarrassing, tense, and tender moment together.

The chapter opens in one of those strange, suspended moments between Renee and Stefan—the kind that neither of them quite knows how to name anymore. Renee had just finished doing something completely unexpected: she’d shaved Stefan’s scraggly, depressing beard.

And my goodness, what a transformation.

In the photographs she later took, Stefan no longer looked defeated or haggard. His strong jawline was clean and sharp, enough to make any woman pause. Yet, because of Renee’s playful mischief, a small patch of his beard remained on his philtrum, right beneath his nose. It made him look utterly ridiculous—almost silly, despite his otherwise noble and commanding aura. There he was: the man who could make boardrooms tremble, looking like he’d accidentally lost a fight with a razor.

And it was all Renee’s doing.

Unable to contain herself, she covered her mouth and laughed secretly at first. But the laughter wouldn’t stay hidden for long. She finally burst out, “Oh my gosh, it’s too funny! I’m a genius. I did such a great job shaving your beard!” Then, she quickly brought out her phone and snapped several photographs of his face from different angles. She couldn’t stop giggling at all. “I’ll take more photographs,” she murmured to herself, “so when I leave him in the future, I can look back at these and remember this moment. I’ll be so happy!”

“What are you laughing at?” Stefan frowned, his expression clouded with irritation.

That only made it worse. “Oh, gosh… It just gets funnier!” She started taking photos of his frowning face too. His fierce, displeased expression combined with that ridiculous little piece of beard was simply comedy gold.

“Stop laughing!” Stefan growled.

But Renee would not be stopped. She wanted to enjoy this rare, silly side of life. However, what happened next caught her completely off guard.

Before she could take another picture, Stefan moved faster than she anticipated. He reached out, grabbed her slender waist, and pulled her body close to his own. The sudden warmth of his frame pressed against her, and the air around them froze.

He looked at her intently, his dark eyes holding hers with a strange, vulnerable seriousness. Then, in a voice barely above a murmur, he asked the question that made her whole body stiffen.

“Tell me. Were we... in love?”

Renee’s heart nearly stopped.

But to understand how they ended up in this breathless moment, we must rewind just a little and see exactly how Renee got herself into this situation.

Moments earlier, after she had finished taunting him about his beard and taking her silly photos, she noticed his shirt was still messy and unbuttoned at the collar. She thought to herself: *If I shaved his face, I might as well make sure he’s presentable down to his collar, right?* But honestly? She was just being nosy. Or at least, that was what she would tell herself later.

Renee reached out, casually at first, and began unbuttoning Stefan’s shirt. She tried to appear indifferent, but once the fabric parted, she could not help but inhale deeply. His defined chest was soon revealed—there was no fat on it at all. It was broad, solid, and undeniably muscular. His skin looked warm beneath the dim light, and the sight of his strong chest made something flutter in her stomach.

Her hands, acting on some impulse she refused to acknowledge, continued eagerly downward. His glorious abs were about to be exposed, and Renee’s breath quickened in anticipation.

But then, before she could see them, Stefan suddenly grabbed her hands.

His face was flushed—actually flushed!—as he demanded, “What are you doing?”

He stared at her as if she were about to take advantage of him. His mind raced: *This woman, my ex-wife, is trying to violate me!*

Renee froze, utterly stunned by his reaction. “Ah! I...” She blinked her large eyes innocently. “Didn’t you ask me to start? Are you shy?”

She could not believe it. The ruthless, domineering Stefan Hunt was blushing like a boy who had never been touched before. Renee had to remind herself of an important truth: the more handsome a man was, the more likely he was to be shy. After all, so many women probably dreamed of getting close to him, yet here he was, acting like she was robbing him of his dignity.

She found that deeply amusing.

But then his mood shifted without warning, and suddenly, she wasn’t the one in control anymore.

When Stefan pulled her waist and pressed her close, the humor faded. The tipsiness of her teasing evaporated like mist under harsh sunlight. Now, she could feel the solid wall of his chest beneath his half-unbuttoned shirt. She could smell the lingering scent of soap and something uniquely him. And her mind was spinning, trying to find a safe answer.

*Were they in love?*

That was a dangerous question. Because once, perhaps, she had thought yes. She had believed in him, given him everything, only to have her heart broken. Now, standing so close to him, with his eyes burning into hers, Renee didn’t know whether to laugh, cry, or run.

The chapter ends on that cliffhanger—with Renee held captive in his arms, silenced by a question that could change everything between them.

**Reader’s Impressions & Star Rating:**

This chapter is an absolute treat! I love how the story balanced between lighthearted comedy and deep, emotional tension. Renee’s mischievous side was so much fun to read—the image of the almighty Stefan walking around with a ridiculous patch of beard is going to stay in my mind for a long time. But beneath the laughter, there is so much pain. Renee’s quiet thought about taking photos to remember him *after she leaves him* broke my heart a little. She is already guarding herself from the future, even while teasing him in the present. Then there’s Stefan’s intense question at the end. It was so sudden and vulnerable that it made me freeze just like Renee.

I absolutely loved this chapter. It was funny, tender, and packed with a wild emotional punch. I cannot wait to see what Renee says next.

**Rating:** ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.8 / 5 Stars.

**Next Chapter Prediction:**

I think Renee will struggle with that question and likely try to dodge it by laughing it off or changing the subject. But Stefan’s gaze tells me he won’t let her escape easily. He may even start trying to remember their past on his own, or force her to confront memories she has buried. With Renee’s heart on one side and her pride on the other, the next chapter is bound to be intense. And those photos from earlier? They might come back to haunt her if anyone else gets a look—especially if one of them sees the almighty Stefan Hunt looking utterly ridiculous.
