# Chapter 9: The Blind Man's Unshakable Composure
Hello everyone, it's me again! How are you all doing? Today I will continue to walk with you and review Chapter 9 of "The Untouchable Ex Wife" — a chapter filled with razor-sharp tensions, unexpected tenderness, and a confrontation that will leave you breathless. If you thought you knew Stefan Hunt, think again. This chapter proves that even blind and bedridden, he remains the most dangerous man in the room. So settle in, dear readers, because this is a story of pride, sacrifice, and a love that refuses to die quietly.
---
The morning air in the sanatorium was thick with unspoken words and simmering hostility. Renee stood frozen, her heart hammering against her ribs as Jovan's cruel revelation hung in the air like a poisonous cloud. He had just told Stefan — the man she had risked everything to save — that she was his girlfriend. That everything she did for Stefan was born from pity, not love.
Stefan's eyes, though sightless, seemed to pierce through the darkness and straight into her soul when he asked, "So, you're saying that you guys are a couple?"
Renee couldn't speak. Couldn't move. The truth was far more complicated than Jovan's twisted narrative. She and Stefan had been deeply, passionately in love — married, even. But he didn't remember her now. And she couldn't bring herself to tell him the truth.
What a dilemma! She was terrified of him forgetting her completely, yet equally terrified that he might suddenly recall who she was. Because if he remembered... everything would change.
Before the tension could suffocate her, Jovan strode into the room with a smug smirk plastered across his handsome face. He walked over to Renee and draped his arm possessively around her shoulders, his voice dripping with false sweetness. "My girlfriend and I are quarrelling, so she turned to you to annoy me. Don't take it seriously, cousin."
Renee's temper flared. She glared at the infuriating man and drove her elbow hard into his ribs. Jovan winced in pain but, infuriatingly, seemed almost delighted by her ferocity. He continued his cruel performance, taunting Stefan with words designed to slice through any man's pride.
"Baby, don't be mad at me. I know I was wrong," Jovan cooed, his eyes fixed on Stefan's pale face. "Please don't use Stefan as a tool. He's blind and disabled now. If you play with his feelings, he'll go mad."
It was a calculated attack. Jovan knew exactly how humiliating this was for the arrogant Stefan Hunt — to be pitied by the woman he loved, to be seen as a helpless invalid. He waited eagerly for the explosion, for Stefan's legendary temper to erupt and drive Renee away once and for all.
Renee's heart clenched painfully. She knew Stefan better than anyone. She knew how deeply Jovan's cruel words must have wounded him. Desperate to shield him from the pain, she hurriedly explained, "Stefan, don't believe a word he said. That's not the reason I want to stay and take care of you..."
But what happened next left everyone in the room utterly stunned.
Stefan didn't fly into a rage. He didn't even raise his voice. Instead, an eerily calm smile touched his lips as he said, "It's fine. I don't think there's anything wrong with having additional help."
Renee blinked, certain she had misheard. But Stefan wasn't finished. His voice took on a dangerously polite tone as he addressed Jovan, "The socks I just changed out of are yet to be washed. I'll have to trouble you for that."
Jovan's jaw dropped. "What?"
Stefan's smirk widened. "Wash them with your hands. You know that I only wear clothes that are hand-washed."
Jovan gaped like a goldfish, utterly speechless. This was not the reaction he had anticipated. Not by a long shot. Rubbing salt into the wound, Stefan then turned to Renee and said smoothly, "The sunshine seems good today. Help me change my clothes, then go out for some fresh air with me."
Tears welled in Renee's eyes — not of sadness, but of overwhelming pride and admiration. Not only had Stefan not gone berserk, but he was so calm, so composed, so utterly unbothered that it seemed as though Jovan's venomous words had simply bounced off him like arrows off steel.
"Stefan, you're so smart. You guessed..." Renee whispered, her voice thick with emotion. "Okay, I... I'll go and get your clothes."
Even after everything he had endured — the blindness, the betrayal, the humiliation — he remained unbreakable.
Jovan's expression turned livid as he observed Stefan with cold, calculating eyes. *This is impossible! This is Stefan we're talking about. He's always so arrogant, but now he's calm even after being humiliated?*
The more he watched, the more humiliated Jovan himself felt. *No, Stefan must be hiding his true emotions. I have to make him lose his temper somehow!*
But Renee was already one step ahead of him. Her expression turned scornful as she noticed Jovan standing there stubbornly. "Why aren't you washing the socks?"
Jovan stepped between her and Stefan, trying one last desperate maneuver. "Stefan, I told you she's my girlfriend. Isn't it inappropriate to ask your cousin's girlfriend to change your clothes for you?"
Renee's temper snapped. "How outrageous!" She rolled up her sleeves, ready to beat some sense into the infuriating man.
But Stefan's response was pure gold. "You said it yourself — I'm a blind guy. I can neither see nor touch. I'm left with no desires, so what's inappropriate about it?"
Jovan sputtered, completely outmaneuvered. "You..."
Renee didn't give him time to recover. She snatched up Stefan's dirty socks and threw them rudely at Jovan's face. "Step aside. Didn't you say you wanted to take care of him? All you do is talk ceaselessly. Hurry up and wash his socks!"
Jovan's face turned crimson in outrage. For a moment, it looked like he might refuse. But then, swallowing his pride, he picked up the socks and forced a tight smile. "Okay, I'll wash them. I'm good at washing socks."
"Pfft!" Renee couldn't help but burst out laughing at his ridiculous expression. Frankly, Jovan was indeed crazy — but she had to admit, he could adapt well. He could even act humbly when he needed to.
Just before walking away, Jovan turned around and delivered one final parting shot. "By the way, Stefan, your beard is ruining your image. I advise you to shave it!"
Ah — so that was it! Jovan had been puzzling over Stefan's unnatural calmness, and he concluded that it must be because of that ridiculous, unkempt beard. The overbearing president had transformed into an amusing character, so of course, people would be dumbfounded.
Renee laughed so hard she could barely breathe. Now she understood why Stefan had been so peculiar today. It was all because of that ridiculous beard!
Stefan's expression grew gloomier, his voice turning icy as he asked, "Is it very funny?"
But Renee was beyond caring about his mood. There was something so endearing, so vulnerable about this powerful man reduced to such a state. Still giggling, she said, "Okay, I... I'll go get your clothes."
---
As the morning sun filtered through the windows, casting golden ribbons of light across the room, Renee found herself standing before the wardrobe selecting a fresh set of clothes for Stefan. But when she turned around ready to help him, something in the air shifted.
"By the way, Stefan, your beard is ruining your image. I advise you to shave it!" Jovan's words echoed in her mind, and she burst into laughter once more at the memory.
Stefan's face grew darker. "Is it very funny?"
"Mmm-hmm." Still holding the razor she had retrieved, Renee eyed his face thoughtfully. "You know, actually... I think we should do something about that beard."
Before Stefan could object, Renee found herself becoming mesmerized by him again. Even in his current state — blind, bedridden, unkempt — he was devastatingly handsome. His masculine features were almost perfect, with deep-set eyes and thick eyelashes that cast shadows on his alabaster cheeks in the soft morning light. Her gaze drifted to his lips, full and tempting despite their perpetual frown. His slender neck gave way to an Adam's apple that seemed to move slightly as she approached.
*He really is ridiculously handsome,* she thought, feeling like a starving dog who had just found a bone.
"What's the matter?" Stefan frowned slightly, his sharp hearing detecting her rapid breathing. When she didn't respond, he worried something was wrong — perhaps his shirt was unbuttoned, or worse, his pants were missing.
Renee swallowed hard and decided to take a more methodical approach. If she was going to shave his beard, she needed better access. And that meant opening his silk pajamas.
*I'll start with taking off his clothes,* she thought, her fingers trembling slightly with anticipation. *Just to see his abs...*
One button. Two buttons. Three buttons...
His defined chest was slowly revealed — broad, muscular, free of any excess fat. Renee inhaled deeply and eagerly continued unbuttoning his shirt. His abs were about to be exposed when—
Strong hands grabbed hers, stopping her cold.
Stefan's face was flushed as he demanded, "What are you doing?" *This woman... is she trying to take advantage of him?*
"Oh! I... I wanted to shave your body hair first!" Renee stuttered, her face burning with embarrassment. "Since you don't need that, I'll shave your beard now."
She could feel the heat radiating from her cheeks as she smoothed her hair, desperately trying to reclaim her dignity. *Renee, oh, Renee! So many years have passed, why do you always expose your immoral behaviour when faced with this man? How humiliating!*
Stefan, though blind, could easily imagine her awkward embarrassment. A smile tugged at his lips before he could stop it. "Thank you, but I don't need you to shave my body hair."
Renee picked up the razor and started shaving his beard seriously this time. She applied shaving cream around his chin before carefully running the blade along his jaw. The process was surprisingly smooth.
They were extremely close now — so close that Renee's faint scent and warm breaths lingered on Stefan's face, distracting him in ways he couldn't quite name. He lifted his hands to guide her work, but as they moved, they accidentally brushed against something soft.
"Hmm... it feels slightly different. It's pretty soft." Unable to see what he was touching, he began exploring curiously.
Renee instantly blushed crimson. "Hey... what are you doing?"
Somehow, Stefan's hands had found their way to her waist and had been roaming upward. His expression was so sincere and innocent, however, that she found it hard to slap him.
When Stefan finally realized what part of her body he had been touching, he snatched his hands away as if burned. "I'm... I'm sorry! I didn't mean to..."
"It's fine. I know you didn't do it on purpose." Renee took a deep breath to steady herself. After all, they had shared many intimate moments in the past — they had been married for years, and this was nothing compared to what they had once shared.
"May I know that the person who takes care of me has to be you," Stefan said suddenly, his voice soft and wondering.
Renee stilled, staring at him with wide eyes. This was unexpected. Even when he was with Seraphina, the woman he trusted most, he had never allowed her to touch his face or hair. He was particular about personal boundaries, deeply uncomfortable with physical intimacy.
"Is that so? Why do I feel you like my touch?" Renee's lips curved into a playful smile as she rubbed his hair and pinched his cheeks, daring to provoke this sleeping beast.
Instead of outrage, Stefan simply said calmly, "It's very strange, but you're the only exception."
Renee was speechless. A warmth spread through her chest that she hadn't felt in what seemed like forever. "No, I'm just curious. Did you recall something?" She could feel him leaning closer to her, and she wondered if he remembered who she truly was. If not, why was she so special to him?
"Should I recall anything?" Stefan asked in return.
After a brief silence, Renee chuckled bitterly. "I'd rather you don't remember me... I'm not a good person."
Stefan didn't push further. He knew she wouldn't tell him the truth even if he asked. Some answers had to be discovered on his own, whether he wanted to know them or not.
---
The conversation might have ended there, but fate had other plans. The door burst open behind them, shattering the fragile intimacy.
"Margaret!" Renee whirled around and tried to spook the older woman. When Margaret turned around, Renee grinned. "Were you scared?"
Something was clearly weighing on Margaret's mind, because she practically jumped out of her skin. "Miss Ren, you scared me! Thank goodness you're finally awake." She hurried to pour Renee a bowl of freshly brewed medicine, blowing on it to cool it down. "Come, take this medicine."
But Renee was in no mood for medicine. "How is Stefan doing? Is his medicine done? Is the ingredient enough? If not, you can take more from me." She rolled up her sleeves, revealing the pale, scarred skin of her wrists.
"No, we can't do that!" Jovan barged into the room, his expression stern as he pushed her sleeves back down. "Do you think your blood is tap water? You can't keep giving it away. Take the medicine first. He's fine at the moment."
"Is that true?" Renee looked at Margaret doubtfully for confirmation.
"Umm..." Margaret was at a loss for words. She was an honest person by nature and simply couldn't lie as easily as Jovan could.
Renee immediately sensed the hesitation. "Margaret, tell me the truth. What's wrong with Stefan?"
The room fell silent. Margaret looked helplessly at Jovan, as if seeking his guidance. With a heavy sigh, she finally admitted, "He's resting in bed in the west wing. His condition wasn't very good during the few days you were in a coma. We didn't want you to worry, so we didn't tell you."
"Didn't he recover well? Why did his condition worsen?" Renee's blood ran cold. Without waiting for explanations, she stumbled toward the west wing, her heart racing with fear.
Jovan smacked his forehead and shot Margaret an annoyed glance. "I asked you to hide it from her."
---
When Renee arrived at the west wing, the sound of shattering glass greeted her ears. Two nurses came running out of Stefan's room, sobbing pitifully.
"Miss Everheart, you're awake? That's wonderful!" They looked at her like she was their saviour. "Please go and advise Mr. Hunt. His current condition isn't very good, but he's refusing to eat or drink. He even prohibited us from taking care of him and drove us out. If this continues, I'm afraid he'll die of thirst or hunger."
"He doesn't eat or drink?" Renee frowned, her heart aching. *Why is he throwing a tantrum like a child?*
She stepped through the spacious garden and reached Stefan's door. Just as she pushed it open gently, an ornament flew past her head, narrowly missing her.
"Don't you understand? I asked you to get lost. Stop bothering me!" Stefan screamed, leaning against his bed with a pale, furious face.
Renee had never seen Stefan lose control like this before. Others might have been frightened, but she only felt heartbreak. Clearly, this powerful man was drowning in despair.
"You broke such a lovely ornament... What a waste!" Renee bent down slowly and carefully picked up the broken pieces, depositing them in the dustbin. Then she walked over to Stefan and placed her hand gently on his.
Her touch calmed him instantly.
"Er... Are you okay?" Stefan asked awkwardly, his heart skipping a beat at her familiar presence.
Renee's lips curved into a gentle smile. "I'm fine. I was just staying up late every day playing games, so I had low blood sugar. I've got my energy back after resting for a few days." She deliberately kept her tone light, hiding the truth of her sacrifice. "I heard someone say you refused to eat or drink. Even the nurses ran away crying. Are you going to starve yourself?"
Stefan looked relieved at her words, but his voice was carefully emotionless when he replied, "Well, that's true. You had Jovan to take care of you, so of course you'd be fine."
Renee found the situation amusing. *Didn't he forget about me? Why does he sound so... jealous?*
"Yeah, he took great care of me. My face is clean, and I ate a lot — unlike you. You neither ate nor drank. I can see your stubble from here." She reached out and gently touched the stubble around his lips. "Well, the great president has now become unrecognizable. I'm sure your fangirls will feel quite sad when they see you."
"I don't like people touching me," Stefan announced aloofly.
"Is that so? Why do I feel you like my touch?" Renee teased, her fingers tracing his jawline. "Be good... There, there."
To her surprise, Stefan didn't pull away. Instead, he said in a strange, quiet voice, "It's very strange, but you're the only exception."
---
The moment hung between them like spun glass, fragile and beautiful. Renee could feel her heart racing as she studied his face. Even in his current state, he was devastatingly beautiful — a fallen angel wrapped in shadows.
"Help me shave my beard," Stefan said suddenly.
"You... You want me to shave your beard for you?" Renee scratched her head awkwardly. "Well, it's rather shameful to admit, but I've done a lot of bad things and even challenged a martial arts studio. I also carried an AK-47 once. Some might call me manly, but I've never shaved a beard before."
"Is it inconvenient for you?" Stefan turned toward her, as if he could see her dilemma through the darkness.
"No, it's not, but... I've never shaved a beard. I'm afraid I might not do a good job."
"It's fine. I don't care how it turns out."
"Hah, is that so? Well, you said it yourself." Renee rubbed her hands together eagerly, grinning wickedly like a villain. She knew exactly what she was going to do — and it was going to be funny.
---
As Renee worked on his beard with painstaking concentration, the atmosphere between them shifted. She was so focused on her task that she lost track of time, her tongue peeking out slightly as she carefully guided the razor along his skin.
Stefan, for his part, found himself distracted by her proximity. Her warm breath ghosted across his face, and he could smell her hair — something floral and soft. It took every ounce of his willpower to remain still.
Nearly twenty minutes passed before Renee sat back with a flourish. "All done! Let me check my work... Oh god, I've ruined your looks!"
Panic flashed across Stefan's face. "What? Really? How bad is it?"
Renee covered her mouth and laughed secretly at his alarm. "Hmm, well... I left a small piece right here." She touched his philtrum, where a patch of beard hair remained, completely transforming his distinguished appearance into something comical.
Stefan's lips tightened. He reached up to feel the offending remnant, his expression turning thunderous. "Renee..."
But she was already giggling uncontrollably. "Oh gosh... It just gets funnier!" She fished out her phone and started snapping photos of his frowning face. Even his fierce expression couldn't hide how ridiculous he looked with that silly patch of hair on his upper lip.
"Stop laughing!" Stefan reached out and grabbed her slender waist, pulling her body close to his. He couldn't see her, but he could feel her trembling with laughter against him. His face hovered just inches from hers as he murmured, "Tell me... were we in love?"
Renee's laughter died in her throat. Her heart froze mid-beat as the question hung between them like a sword ready to fall.
What could she possibly say?
Yes, they had been in love — desperately, passionately, irrevocably in love. They had been married, had children together, had weathered storms that would have broken lesser couples. But he didn't remember any of it. The doctors said his memory might return, or it might not. And she had promised herself she would disappear from his life the day he recovered.
No. She couldn't tell him the truth. Not yet. Not when he was still so fragile.
Renee swallowed hard and gently pushed away from him, putting distance between them. "I... I have to go. I need to check on Adie and Abby."
The lie tasted bitter on her tongue as she fled the room, leaving Stefan alone with his questions.
---
Back in the medical room, Margaret was brewing another pot of medicine for Renee, her brow deeply furrowed with guilt. "Sir, Madam, please watch over Miss Renee so she'll be safe and sound. It's my fault that I made such a useless prescription... I made her suffer a lot!"
During the three days Renee had been unconscious, the special ingredient she had prepared for Stefan's treatment had been completely depleted. Consequently, his condition had worsened, and he could barely get out of bed. Margaret had tried everything, but nothing worked. The prescription created by her estranged father was miraculously effective — but its side effects were brutal on Renee's body.
Margaret hadn't dared to inform Renee of this. She knew exactly how her passionate mistress would react.
But now that Renee was awake, she refused to take her medicine until she was certain Stefan would survive. Her own health meant nothing to her when the man she loved was suffering.
What Renee didn't know was that Stefan's decline wasn't merely physical. It was emotional. He hadn't been eating or sleeping well since she collapsed — he spent every day staring into the darkness, praying for her recovery. And when he heard others whisper that Jovan was caring for her, his heart twisted with jealousy and self-loathing.
He couldn't visit her. He was useless, blind, and broken. If he went to her, he would only cause her more trouble.
So he pushed everyone away, drowning in his own misery until Renee's gentle voice broke through his despair.
---
Later that day, Renee sat beside Stefan once more, watching the sunlight play across his features. He had finally eaten — she had made sure of it — and his colour was returning. Her fingers itched to touch him, to memorize every line and curve of his beloved face.
*He's so handsome. So strong.* Despite all the pain and confusion in her heart, she couldn't deny that being near him made everything else fade away.
"You know," Renee murmured softly, "I used to think you were the most arrogant, infuriating man I'd ever met."
Stefan's lips twitched. "And now?"
"Now..." She hesitated, her heart pounding. "Now I think you're still arrogant and infuriating. But you're also the bravest person I know. You lost your sight, your company, and... someone you cared about. But you're still here. You're still fighting."
"Who did I lose?" Stefan asked quietly.
Renee's breath caught. She hadn't meant to reveal so much. "I... you should rest. The doctor said you need to conserve your strength."
"Renee." His voice was soft but commanding. "Do you really think I don't know?"
Her blood turned to ice. "Know... what?"
"That something happened between us. Something important." Stefan turned his sightless eyes toward her, and despite the darkness, she felt as though he could see straight through to her soul. "Even before Jovan came here, I knew. Your voice feels familiar. Your hands feel like home. I may have lost my memories, but my heart remembers what my mind cannot."
Tears burned Renee's eyes. She couldn't speak — couldn't breathe — as his words washed over her.
"But then Jovan came and claimed you were his, and I remembered... I must have done something terrible to lose you." Stefan's jaw tightened. "You fled from me. You didn't look back. So whatever it was, I deserved it."
"No!" The word burst out of Renee before she could stop it. "Stefan, it wasn't like that. I didn't leave you because of you — I left because of..."
"Because of what?"
She opened her mouth to confess everything — about Seraphina, about the divorce, about the children, about all the years of pain and sacrifice. But the words stuck in her throat like razors.
*If I tell him the truth now, it will destroy him. He'll insist on taking responsibility, on being with me out of obligation rather than love. And I can't bear that.*
"Because of me," she finally whispered. "I'm not a good person, Stefan. I've done things I'm not proud of. I've hurt people, kept secrets, made choices that I can never take back. You're better off not remembering me."
"I'll decide what I'm better off doing," Stefan said firmly. "I told you before — whether I have my memories or not, I know what my heart wants."
"Forgetting someone isn't the same as loving someone new," Renee said sadly. "When I saved you... I wasn't hoping you'd remember me and fall in love with me again. I was hoping you'd survive and find happiness — happiness that doesn't include me."
Stefan reached out and found her hand, gripping it tightly. "You're wrong."
The words hung between them like a promise or a curse. Renee felt tears streaming down her cheeks as she silently begged every god in the universe for strength.
She loved him so much it hurt.
But she also knew something Stefan didn't: his deepest happiness would be built on forgetting her entirely.
And when he finally regained his sight and his memories, she would be long gone.
---
Meanwhile, Jovan stood in the shadows nearby, watching the tender scene with an expression that was equal parts jealousy and determination. His heart twisted as Renee wiped Stefan's tears, as she fed him soup, as she sat by his bedside holding his hand.
*Why?* Jovan wondered bitterly. *Why does she love him so much?*
He had everything in life — intelligence, good looks, power, wealth. He had schemed and clawed his way to steal H Group from Stefan's grasp. And yet, standing here watching his cousin receive the one thing money couldn't buy — Renee's heart — he felt like the biggest failure in the world.
"Renee," he muttered under his breath, his eyes hard and dangerous. "One day, you'll understand. I've loved you for eighteen years. And I'll be damned if I let everything I've built be for nothing."
He turned and walked away, leaving a trail of bitter longing in his wake.
---
But Jovan wasn't the only one watching. Stefan, despite his blindness, had developed an uncanny ability to sense when he was being observed. The moment Jovan disappeared around the corner, his expression hardened.
"Renee," he said quietly. "I want you to know something."
"What is it?"
"I may be blind, but I'm not foolish. Jovan didn't come here to help me — he came here to claim you." Stefan's voice dropped, taking on a dangerous edge. "And I want you to remember something: no matter what promises he makes you, no matter what bargains you strike with him... I will never stop fighting for you."
Renee's throat tightened. "Stefan..."
"I don't know what secrets you're keeping from me. I don't know what history we share or what sins I've committed." His grip on her hand tightened. "But I know one thing without a shadow of a doubt: you are mine. You've always been mine. And I'll burn the whole world to the ground before I let you sacrifice yourself for my sake."
A single tear slipped down Renee's cheek. "Stefan, you don't understand..."
"Then make me understand." He turned toward her, his sightless eyes searching for her face. "Tell me the truth. Tell me everything. Let me carry your burdens instead of shouldering them alone."
Renee opened her mouth to speak... but then closed it again. The truth was too dangerous — too complicated. How could she possibly explain that she was his ex-wife? That his beloved Seraphina had betrayed him? That his own family had tried to destroy him? That the children he didn't remember were waiting for him at home?
"I can't," she finally whispered, her voice breaking. "I wish I could, but I can't. Some truths are better left buried for the world to forget."
"Renee..."
"Please, Stefan." She pressed her fingers against his lips to silence him. "Just let me take care of you until you're well. Let me have this time with you. When you can finally see again... I promise I'll disappear and never trouble you anymore."
She felt a tremor run through his body — whether from anger or something more painful, she couldn't tell. When he finally spoke, his voice was harsh and barely controlled.
"Is that what you want? To disappear?"
"No," she answered honestly, tears pouring down her cheeks. "But it's what I deserve."
---
The chapter ended with no resolution. Renee and Stefan sat in the growing darkness, both of them carrying hearts too heavy to bear. In the distance, Jovan plotted and schemed, unaware that the true battle for Renee's heart was still far from over.
Outside the window, the sun set over the horizon, casting long shadows across the sanatorium. Everything was changing and yet nothing was settling.
And somewhere beyond them, unseen by any of them, a deeper secret loomed...

## Reader's Impressions & Star Rating
This chapter felt like a rollercoaster of emotions! Watching Stefan outmaneuver Jovan with his unexpected composure was absolutely brilliant — he may be blind, but he sees right through everyone's games. The shaving scene was simultaneously hilarious and heart-stoppingly intimate, giving us a glimpse of the deep connection these two still share despite Stefan's lost memories.
I particularly loved the moment Stefan said, "My heart remembers what my mind cannot" — chills! And poor Renee, caught between her enduring love for Stefan and her determination to remain hidden, is such a tragic figure. Her refusal to tell Stefan the truth is simultaneously infuriating and heartbreaking. You can sense the ticking clock, and it makes the entire narrative feel urgent.
The only reason I'm not giving this a perfect score is because we're all waiting with bated breath for Stefan to remember everything, and this chapter was a masterful tease. The tension is masterfully constructed, but the payoff is still to come.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rating: 4.8 / 5 Stars
## Next Chapter Prediction
Based on the dramatic cliffhangers in this chapter, I predict that Stefan's recovery will accelerate rapidly — and with it, fragments of his memory might begin surfacing. Since Jovan foolishly mentioned the beard requiring a shave, Renee's careful ministrations might trigger something deep within Stefan's subconscious. I also suspect that Jovan, seeing his plans unraveling, will escalate his scheming and possibly reveal something devastating about Renee's true intentions. The bargains Renee made with Jovan will inevitably complicate matters when Stefan starts remembering his marriage to her. Will Stefan finally learn the truth about their past? Will he fight Jovan for Renee's freedom? And what will happen to Adie and Abby when they reunite with their father?
## Next Chapter Prediction
Stefan's recovery will take an unexpected turn, and I predict that the moment his vision returns, he will reveal that he's actually remembered everything much earlier than he let on. What will he do when he discovers Renee has made a deal with Jovan to leave the country? And will Jovan's obsession finally cross the line into dangerous territory? All signs point to an explosive confrontation in the chapters ahead!
