Alyssa could feel Justin's chest rising and falling with his heavy breathing, like an undercurrent surging toward her wave after wave. She could even clearly smell the bitter scent of medicine that always lingered on his garments.

Every single thing filled her with profound disgust, making her stomach churn. "Even if I put my trust in you, would you be able to achieve that?" she asked.

As much as she wanted to pull away from him, his arm was incredibly strong, locked around her waist so tightly that she couldn't move an inch.

"I am most certainly able to do it, as long as you believe in me and remain by my side."

With his left hand, Justin stroked her dark, silky hair. Meanwhile, he reached his right hand underneath the blanket, wrapping his fingers around a syringe.

He pressed his pale lips right against her ear, murmuring tenderly, "Lyse, the situation has come to this. I have no one else left but you. Would you be willing to come with me?"

Spurred by a dangerously sharp intuition, Alyssa felt her heart suddenly gripped by an ominous feeling. She was just about to struggle to get back up when she was startled by a sharp prick on her neck that felt exactly like a bee sting.

"Justin... What did you "

Alyssa's pupils constricted as her eyes met Justin's deep, delighted gaze.

In the next moment, her consciousness began to fade. She slumped limply into his

arms as her vision went dark, as if she had plunged into an abyss.

She lost consciousness completely.

"Sleep well, my dear."

Justin closed his eyes as he lowered his head and planted an ardent kiss on Alyssa's forehead. Then, with his other hand, he slowly pulled the pillow from underneath her neck. "When you wake up, we can be together forever."

As he spoke, the door to the hospital ward opened. Theron hurried into the room and gave Justin a respectful nod.

"Mr. Beckett, the helicopter is on standby. It's time for you to make a move."

Justin held Alyssa tightly in his arms, taking her hand and interlocking his fingers with hers.

"Got it," he replied.

It was 7:00 pm sharp. A fleet of black luxury cars sat idle outside the gates of Heightsnew Villa, lined up end to end.

Jonah walked out slowly, pushing Winston's wheelchair. The Taylor family members surrounded them, their faces filled with sorrow.

Lyla and Colene clung to each other, weeping uncontrollably. Even the family's

helpers stood by with reddened eyes.

It was a testament to how gentle

everyone understood that Jona was the family's anchor-the pillar that kept them upright.

"Moms, please take good care of Dad from here on out," Jonah said, giving

Winston's shoulders a squeeze as his eyes filled with a gentle sorrow.

"M-Moms?" Lyla and Colene both stammered in disbelief. "Jonah... W-What did you just call us?"

Jonah's siblings were also floored, especially Cyrus and Tatiana. They simply couldn't believe their ears.

Although Jonah had always been incredibly good to Lyla and Colene over the last 20 years, treating them like his own family, he had never addressed them as "Mom".

Hearing that word now overwhelmed both Lyla and Colene with emotion. While Colene managed to hold herself together slightly better, Lyla broke down in tears completely, so overcome that she could barely even stand.
