The White Dove? The Taylor family members exchanged looks, utterly perplexed.
They knew that the once-rebellious Alyssa had gone abroad to work with Doctors Without Borders, saving lives and treating the wounded. During the two years she spent abroad, Winston had been so sick with worry that he could barely eat or sleep.
That being said, they had never heard of Alyssa having a nickname like that.
Naturally, Jonah didn't know about it either. But what he did know was the reason why Alyssa had gone all the way to Luminara, willingly throwing herself into danger where she could lose her life at any moment.
It was all so she could be closer to Jasper, even if only by a fraction. Even if she had to watch over him without him ever noticing her, she would still be content.
Jonah grabbed Dexter's arms and asked in a raspy voice, "Mr. McGrath, you said Jasper has been desperately searching for the White Dove. What did you mean by that?"
"Years ago, on the battlefield at Luminara, terrorists besieged the hospital where the woman nicknamed 'the White Dove' was stationed. Jasper led a team to rescue the hostages, but the enemy's attack was too aggressive.
"Jasper's comrades were either wounded or dead, and he took a stray bullet to his left leg, leaving him on the brink of death. It was at that exact moment that the White Dove appeared before him. She put her own life on the line, carrying him out of that hellish hospital all on her own."
Dexter grew more emotional as he spoke, so much so that his eyes turned red. "According to Jasper, he was drifting out of consciousness at the time because he had lost a lot of blood. On top of that, the White Dove had a thick mask on, so he couldn't get a good look at her at all.
"But even after all these years, he had never for a moment forgotten her. She has always held a place in his heart. He has also sought out his lifesaver in secret on multiple occasions, but he always came back empty-handed.
"At the time, I told him to just forget about it. After all, the medics stationed in Luminara back then were from all over the world. He might be able to search for her within his own country, but how could he possibly search for her across the entire world? He would never find her."
Jonah's breath hitched instantly. He pressed urgently, "In that case, how do you know Lyse is the White Dove?"
"When I visited Jasper at the hospital the next day, that woman was watching over him by his side. From what I heard, she never slept a wink that night. I wanted to thank her at first, but she hurried off, as if she was afraid others would find out she had been by Jasper's side.
"She lowered her head in a panic and put her face mask on, so I only caught a glimpse of her face.

"The lifesaver he's been desperately searching for all these years isn't in some faraway land. She's been right under his nose the whole time!"

Julien let out a heavy sigh, his eyes reddening with sympathy. "She is one foolish woman... How could she be so silly?"
Right at this moment, a car came hurtling toward them before pulling to a hard stop right in front of Heightsnew Villa. Sean scrambled out of the car, drenched in sweat and looking as white as a ghost.
"M-Mr. Jonah... I have bad news!"
Jonah's heart sank. "What's wrong?" he asked.
Careful not to cause a scene, Sean walked to Jonah's side and leaned into his ear. In a hoarse and frantic voice, he whispered, "It's Ms. Alyssa... She's gone missing!"
