Jasper looked into Dexter's bloodshot eyes, confusion pooling in his own as his brow furrowed. "What's going on? Stop beating around the bush and get to the point."

Xavier chimed in, "Exactly. Just spit it out. Mr. Beckett has seen it all. He wouldn't even bat an eye if you told him the world was ending tomorrow."

"Hell, who cares about the apocalypse? At worst, we all go down together."

Dexter swallowed hard, suddenly grabbing Jasper by his broad shoulders. In a dead-serious tone, he said, "The White Dove-the one you've been searching for and dreaming of seeing all these years again I found her!"

Jasper's eyes instantly lit up. His heart hammered against his ribs as blood surged through his veins.

"Who is she? Where is she?"

He had assumed that after fighting side by side on the battlefield, they had parted ways for good, never to meet again.

To his complete surprise, he finally had news of his savior's whereabouts. He wasn't going to be let down this time.

He was actually going to find her. He would finally get the chance to properly repay her for saving his life.

The exhilaration was written all over his face. A faint smile touched his lips, his eyes burning with the excitement of finally reuniting with the woman who had saved him.

"Jasper..."

"Who is it, Dex? Tell me now, will you?" Jasper urged, his tone frantic, his gaze intense.

Overwhelmed by a whirlwind of emotion, Dexter let out a deep breath and answered carefully, "She's been right under your nose this whole time. Not only has she been by your side all these years, but she has also been married to you. She braved countless life-or-death situations with you. She was the love of your life.

"The White Dove... is none other than Alyssa, the eldest daughter of the Taylor family."

It felt as though a bomb had detonated in Jasper's head. The force of the realization slammed into him so hard that he staggered, his legs nearly giving out beneath him.

His hands shook uncontrollably. It felt as if all the blood in his body had turned to ice and rushed straight to his chest, shattering him from within.

It was Alyssa. It was Alyssa all along... But how... How could that be?

"What the actual fuck?"

Xavier, who normally maintained complete professional composure, lost it entirely. The composure slipped right off his face. "You're not messing with us, right? This isn't something to joke about! Do you have

"He wouldn't even be standing here today without her. She's his savior!"

Not only had she saved Jasper's life, but she had also been his single greatest

obsession. To be told now that Alyssa was the White Dove, and that she had been beside him all along...

How was Jasper supposed to survive that truth?

"Why the hell would I joke about

Dexter was so worked up he was talking a mile a minute. "I've verified it with Prince Jonah himself. He confirmed it to me in person. Plus... he knew Ms. Alyssa was the White Dove all along."

Xavier couldn't believe his ears. "Mr. Jonah knew the entire time? Why didn't he say anything?"

"Ms. Alyssa wouldn't let him!"

As Dexter spoke, a heavy weight settled on his chest. He could only imagine the soul-crushing pressure crushing down on Jasper right now.

Dexter continued, "According to Prince Jonah, Ms. Alyssa married you back then because she loved you. She didn't want to complicate your marriage with outside obligations, and she didn't want it to look like she was demanding something in return for saving your life.

"You didn't marry her by choice back then, and you didn't love her yet. So, she didn't want that life-or-death encounter to become a tool to control, coerce, or guilt-trip you into anything.

"She loved you so deeply that she refused to burden you with it. She wanted to keep the memory of that encounter pure, so it wouldn't be tarnished inside an unhappy marriage."
