## A Queen's Determination
The morning light streamed gently through the castle windows as April prepared to rise from her bed, her body still recovering from the ordeals she had recently endured. But before her feet could even touch the cold stone floor, a strong hand gently stopped her.
Alessandro stood beside the bed, concern etched deeply into his handsome features. "Where do you think you're going?" he asked, his voice soft but carrying that unmistakable royal authority.
"Today I have dance classes and also classes with Sir Gabriel," April replied matter-of-factly, as if her plans were non-negotiable.
"The doctor said you should rest," Alessandro insisted, his brow furrowing with worry.
But April was not so easily swayed. She met his gaze with the same fiery determination that had captured his heart. "I'm fine. Besides, the dance will be in a few days. I don't want to be embarrassed on the day of the dance for not knowing how to dance."
And then Alessandro said something that would melt any heart—a promise wrapped in devotion: "That won't happen. That day, you will be the most dazzling and beautiful woman in the place. Everyone will be so absorbed by your beauty that even if you make a mistake, they won't notice."
Oh, how those words hung in the air like sweet honey! But April, ever humble and aware of her position, shook her head. "Even so, I want to make it perfect. I want everyone to see that I am worthy of being by your side."
In that moment, the mighty King revealed the vulnerability he hid from the rest of the world. "That's not true. In reality, I'm the one who's not worthy of being by your side."
It was a confession so raw, so honest, that April felt her heart swell. Yet even as love bloomed within her chest, her concerns remained. "Still, I don't want others to talk about me."
A dark shadow passed over Alessandro's face. "If anyone does this, I will cut out their tongue so they will never say it again."
"No!" April cried out, horrified.
Seeing her reaction, Alessandro burst into laughter, the tension dissolving instantly. "It was a joke! I'm not going to do that. I'm not a tyrant."
April placed a gentle hand on his chest, feeling the steady beat of his heart beneath her palm. "I'm fine. Let me do my homework. If I feel bad, I promise to rest."
Alessandro caressed her soft hair lovingly and finally relented. "Okay, but promise me you won't overdo it."
"Don't worry, I won't."
With a tender kiss pressed to her forehead and a lingering goodbye, Alessandro departed for his office, leaving his queen to her duties—though his heart remained with her long after he closed the door behind him.
## Whispers of a World Beyond
At mid-morning, a knock echoed through Alessandro's study. Cassian entered, his presence commanding despite the weight of the news he carried. As he delivered his report on everything that had happened during their visit to the elves, the King listened in contemplative silence.
When Cassian finished, Alessandro finally spoke, his voice low with new understanding. "Apparently, there are more races in this world than I imagined."
Cassian sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. "If I'm honest, I still don't believe it. Fairies, elves, creatures born of darkness... I think we were better off when we only had to fight bandits and human armies."
He turned to gaze out the window, sunlight painting his somber features. "Sometimes I feel that we are not prepared for this new war that is coming to us."
"You are not the only one who feels this way," Alessandro admitted, rising from his chair to stand beside his trusted friend and brother. "I feel the same way too. But even if our future is uncertain and dark, I will not give up. I will fight for my kingdom and for everything I love until my last breath."
A fierce loyalty burned in Cassian's eyes. "And I'll be by your side, watching your back, just like old times."
A small smile tugged at Alessandro's lips. "We haven't practiced for a while. Do you want to clash swords?"
"Don't you have any pending work?" Cassian asked, raising an eyebrow.
"I always have pending work. It's endless. So why don't we go and train a little? I need to clear my head. Then I'll continue with my work."
Cassian grinned. "Then let's go."
## The Sword Masters
The training grounds buzzed with activity as the two men entered. Every guard and knight in the vicinity stopped what they were doing, eyes widening in shock at the sight of Cassian walking without his leg weakening, moving with the strength and confidence of his former days.
Cassian, noticing that all eyes were focused on him, chuckled softly. "Everyone sees me."
"They must be surprised. It's been a long time since you came here," Alessandro remarked.
"Yes, I hope to live up to expectations in this training."
"You've always been a genius with the sword. I'm sure you'll do well."
Cassian shook his head humbly. "I don't think I'm a genius. I just try harder than others—although I haven't been doing it lately."
Each man selected a sword, the familiar weight of the blade settling comfortably in their hands. Steel met steel in a beautiful dance of skill and brotherhood. As their swords clashed rhythmically, Alessandro decided to probe into matters of the heart.
"How are things going between you and that Maya girl?"
Cassian hesitated, his swings faltering slightly. "Well... I guess."
"That's an atypical response."
"She has made it clear to me that our relationship will not move forward."
"Then make her change her mind," Alessandro said simply.
"You say it like it's something easy to do."
"It may not be easy, but it is not impossible either. So try it, if you really want it."
Cassian's thoughts churned within him like a stormy sea. He wasn't quite sure what his true feelings for Maya were, and rather than confess this uncertainty to his brother, he pivoted to safer ground.
"I'll go with Maya to find the key to Hades."
Alessandro's expression hardened. "What? You won't be able to go, and I don't trust her to go alone with the elves. They don't have my trust yet."
"Mine neither. Although they are helping us, I feel that they have hidden intentions. They are not telling us the whole truth."
"I think the same."
With explosive force, Alessandro swung his sword, sending Cassian's blade flying across the training ground. He smirked. "I think I'm a little rusty."
Cassian flexed his hand, wincing slightly. "Yes, you should practice a little more."
Just then, Gabriel appeared at the entrance. Alessandro's shoulders sagged with resignation. "It seems my free time is over."
"Your Majesty, I remind you that you still have some matters to attend to," Gabriel stated in his ever-efficient manner.
"Yes, yes, I know. There is always something to attend to and matters to deal with. I wonder when will be the day when I'll have some time for myself."
Gabriel responded with characteristic bluntness. "When you die, you will be able to rest eternally. Now fulfill your obligations, Your Majesty, because when you don't do so, my work keeps increasing. Sometimes I can't even return home."
"I understand. Stop complaining. We'll see each other later, Cas."
As they walked through the grand hallways back toward the office, Alessandro and Gabriel encountered Duke Alfonso Vampel. The Duke looked absolutely furious, though he bowed somewhat abruptly before the King.
"Greetings to His Majesty the King."
"Greetings, Duke Vampel."
"Your Majesty could grant me an audience?" The Duke's words dripped with urgency.
"I'm very busy at the moment, Duke Vampel. Perhaps another time."
"Please, Your Majesty. I won't take up much of your time."
"I'm sorry, but—"
"Please, Your Majesty. Do it for the ties that united us for so many years."
Alessandro inwardly groaned. Duke Vampel was an old fox who only ever brought trouble, but the man seemed desperate enough to cause a scene if refused. Reluctantly, the King agreed.
"Okay, let's go to my office, though it must be brief. As you know, I am a busy man."
"I know, and I will be brief."
## The Old Fox's Demands
Once inside the office, Alessandro settled into the chair behind his desk, gesturing for the Duke to state his business.
"What does the Duke want so insistently to demand an audience?" he asked, his tone clipped.
"It's about my daughter Victoria. I heard that she has been banned from entering the palace. I would like to know why."
Alessandro's jaw tightened. "You really don't know, Duke?"
"Victoria said it was because of a small misunderstanding."
"A small misunderstanding?" Alessandro's voice dropped, carrying the dangerous edge that made seasoned warriors tremble. "She put spies in my palace and tried to attack my wife. If her punishment has been so weak, it is thanks to my wife's kindness. But I am not as kind as her, so do not tempt me."
The air in the room grew thick with tension. Duke Vampel's face paled, his fury replaced by a sudden, calculating wariness. He had come seeking answers, but what he found was a warning—a line drawn in the sand that he would cross at his own peril.
## A King's Resolve, A Queen's Strength

## Reader's Impressions & Star Rating
What a phenomenal chapter! I must say, the tenderness between Alessandro and April absolutely warms my heart. Their love is the kind of love that fairy tales are written about—pure, devoted, and unshakable. But beneath that sweetness lies the steel of Alessandro's resolve. The confrontation with Duke Vampel was electrifying! You can practically feel the menace radiating from the King as he defends his wife's honor. And Cassian's uncertainty about Maya adds another layer of delicious complexity. We also caught a glimpse of the larger world with elves, fairies, and hidden threats lurking in the shadows. This chapter masterfully weaves romance, political drama, and character development into a tapestry that leaves you desperate for more.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rating: 4.9 / 5 Stars
## Next Chapter Prediction
Oh, the plot thickens, my friends! I predict that Duke Vampel will not simply accept his daughter's punishment. He'll likely plot behind the scenes, perhaps seeking allies among the kingdom's enemies to retaliate against the King and Queen. Meanwhile, April's determination to perfect her dance might unwittingly place her in danger from those who wish to see her humiliated. And what of Maya and the mission to find the key to Hades? Someone will inevitably take matters into their own hands, and the consequences could be catastrophic. Prepare yourselves for betrayals, secrets, and perhaps even battle!
