The midnight hour had come, the time when darkness is thickest and evil prowls strongest. In that pregnant silence, a figure finally emerged from a long-forgotten hiding place—a hole buried deep within the bowels of a mountain. That figure was Cira, broken, weakened, and stripped of nearly all her power. For more than a year, she had languished in that black emptiness, trapped in a shell of her former self, nursing the only thing that had kept her alive through those endless months: her hatred.

Ever since her defeat at the hands of her sister, one single thought had consumed her mind like a slow-burning fire—revenge. She would make her sister suffer. She would strip away everything her sister loved, destroy what was most precious to her, and laugh as the world she had built crumbled into dust. Before disappearing that day, Cira had sworn a terrible oath: she would take away everything valuable and important to her sister. And now, she would fulfill that oath.

As she moved through the darkened forest, a sinister voice slithered into her mind—the voice of that darkness which had always whispered to her from the void.

*"If you enter the crack that leads to Hades, you will regain your power immediately,"* the voice purred, sweet and poisonous like honey laced with venom.

But Cira was not a fool. "I will not do what you want. I am not stupid. If I do that, you will take my body, and I would disappear."

*"But I would make your wish come true,"* the voice insisted. *"I would take revenge for you."*

"No," Cira answered, her voice steel-hard despite her weakness. "Although I want revenge, I do not intend to give up what I am for it."

And so she pressed on, walking alone through a forest that hummed with dark noises, with the calls of night creatures lurking in the shadows. But Cira felt no fear—her heart was far more dangerous than anything that haunted those trees. She finally reached a small clearing, a pocket of open space beneath the canopy of night. There, gathering every scrap of magic she had managed to hoard over this past year, she struck the ground with all her might.

The earth split with a sickening crack. Black smoke billowed forth like a wound in the world itself, and from that fissure crawled creatures—small, weak monsters born from shadow and malice. They would not win any great battle, but that was never their purpose. No, they existed for something far more insidious.

One among them caught her eye: a grotesque thing shaped like a bird, its feathers matted and wrong, its eyes glowing a terrible red. Cira seized it by its neck, fierce and commanding. She gave it a single order: become her eyes beyond this mountain. And with that, she sent it flying toward the royal palace of Cosset.

Exhausted beyond words, Cira returned to her hiding place and collapsed into a sleep that claimed her for an entire day. When she finally opened her eyes again, she did not see the darkness of her cave. Instead, she beheld a beautiful orange sky—the sun setting slowly behind distant mountains. And there, rising before her vision, stood the royal palace of Cosset with its tall towers piercing the heavens.

Through the bird's eyes, she descended upon the palace gardens, bathed in the last golden rays of sunlight. They were breathtaking. Everything about that place was beautiful. Anger boiled inside her like molten lava—that this was her sister's life now, this splendor, this tranquility, while she, Cira, had rotted in the dark for over a year.

Then the bird flew through one of the great windows, and what Cira saw made her hatred blaze even hotter. A girl. Her sister had a daughter. Abril had built a beautiful family, a happy life, surrounded by love and light.

A slow, terrible smile spread across Cira's shadowy heart. "Enjoy your happiness while you can," she whispered to the image before her. "Because I will make sure it does not last long. I will take everything from you. I will make you completely alone—as you had always been."

She ordered the bird to hide itself, unwilling to reveal her presence so soon. Her sister would not know she was coming. Not until it was far too late.

Far away, in the warm comfort of the royal palace, Abril gently rocked little Lissana in her arms. The baby was drowsy, her tiny eyes fluttering as sleep claimed her. But suddenly, Abril felt a strange presence—cold, malevolent, watching. It lasted only an instant, and she dismissed it as her imagination. More than a year had passed, and still she remained guarded, ever anxious, never knowing when Cira might strike again.

When the baby finally fell asleep, Abril placed her tenderly in the crib and summoned one of the maids to watch over her while she went to take a bath.

The maid, Marin, was exhausted beyond measure. Earlier that day, she had been forced to help in the kitchen after the usual cook had fallen ill. Her limbs were heavy, her eyes burning with fatigue. As she watched the baby sleep peacefully, her eyelids grew heavier and heavier, until, without even realizing it, she surrendered to slumber.

The darkness moved. In the shadowed corner of the room, a dark shape in the form of a bird crept in, landing silently on the edge of the crib. Little Lissana stirred awake. Any child would have screamed at the sight of that grotesque creature with its glowing red eyes and twisted form. But Lissana did not cry. She simply stared at it, unblinking, curious.

Deep within her mountain lair, Cira felt the moment, and she gave the order. Attack.

The bird lunged forward, talons extended, diving straight at the tiny infant.

In the bathtub, Abril's eyes snapped open as a strange presence flooded her senses—small, but overflowing with pure evil. It was coming from Lissana's room! She leapt from the water, wrapped herself in a robe, and sprinted through the palace halls, her heart hammering with terror. She burst into Lissana's room just in time to witness something that froze her in place.

Little Lissana extended her tiny arms, and from her small hands erupted a brilliant, blinding light. It surged forward, engulfing the monster, and in an instant, the bird-shaped horror was reduced to nothing but a wisp of ash scattering on the air.

Abril rushed to her daughter, scooping her up and frantically checking every inch of her small body. No wounds. No marks. She hugged Lissana to her chest, her body trembling with a storm of emotions—relief that her daughter was safe, and absolute terror at what she had just witnessed. Her daughter's powers had awakened. At such a young age. That was not normal. It was beyond rare—it was unheard of.

Marin stirred, jolted awake by the commotion. Seeing the queen, she scrambled to her feet, shame flooding her face. "Your Majesty, I'm so sorry. I was very tired. I must have fallen asleep without realizing it. I promise this won't happen again."

But in truth, Marin's exhaustion had been a blessing in disguise. Only Abril knew what her daughter's power had done. And she intended to keep it that way, at least for now.

"Don't worry," Abril said softly, her voice gentle though her mind raced. "Lissana just woke up."

She approached the crib. There was no trace of the monster left behind. Yet she could still feel the residue of her daughter's power flowing through the room like a gentle current. And she knew, with a mother's certainty, that no monster or evil creature would dare approach this room for some time.

Abril pressed a kiss to her baby's forehead, cradling her tiny face with unending love. Then she turned to Marin.

"Take care of her," she said steadily. "And if anything strange happens, tell me immediately."

"As Your Majesty commands," Marin replied with a deep bow.

Abril left the room, but her resolve had crystallized into iron. She would protect her daughter from everything. From everyone. Those who threatened her child—whether they came from the shadows of the past or the dangers of the future—would find no mercy from her.

She would not let anything or anyone hurt her little girl.

Not even her own sister.

**Reader's Impressions & Star Rating:**

Oh, what a deliciously tense chapter! The contrast between Cira's scheming hatred and the tender mother-daughter scene was masterfully crafted. I could feel the ominous dread creeping through every line as the bird-monster approached Lissana, and that moment when the baby's power erupted—the imagery was breathtaking! I love how the author balances villainous menace with maternal warmth, and the revelation that Lissana's powers awakened this early sets up so many thrilling possibilities. This chapter left me hungry for more.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rating: 4.9 / 5 Stars

**Next Chapter Prediction:**

With Cira's spy destroyed and her presence potentially revealed, the next chapter will likely show her fury at this unexpected setback. She will learn that Lissana possesses extraordinary power, which might make her more cautious—or more desperate to strike before the child grows stronger. Meanwhile, Abril must now grapple with the secret of her daughter's abilities while preparing for the inevitable confrontation with her vengeful sister. I predict a dangerous game of cat and mouse will begin, with the palace on high alert and Cira plotting a far more sinister scheme.
