Mr. Harrison's brow furrowed even deeper.
The moment he heard the word "equipment," his eyes narrowed dangerously. "Did you say you brought equipment?"
Completely oblivious to the dark shift in Mr. Harrison's tone, Adrian's eyes lit up and he nodded eagerly. "Yes! Imported straight from the United Realmon States! Sixty million dollars' worth!"
"No wonder!" Mr. Harrison started hammering furiously at his keyboard, pulling up data logs. "I was wondering why The Sovereign-X Dragon suddenly had to trigger its Fusion Micro-Power Module!"
He started shouting at the screen. "When the system alerted me that the micro- fusion core had fired up, I traced an extreme energy anomaly on Island 3. So it was you!"
"Your pile of scrap metal almost damaged my machine?!"
Adrian's smile shattered.
Earlier, Serena had called his sixty-million-dollar investment 'scrap metal.'
Now, a national treasure was calling it the exact same thing.
Swallowing hard, he forced a desperate, awkward smile. "Mr. Harrison, that was the newest model from the United Realmon States..."
"Newest model, my ass!" Mr. Harrison roared, cutting him off completely. "Three months ago, the United Realmon States recalled a batch of those units for fatal manufacturing defects! The energy drain is catastrophic, and they overload the second you push the power!"
"It's obsolete, defective garbage!"
"They've been hunting for a sucker to buy that trash for months, but the entire international community rejected it. You couldn't pay anyone to take it off their hands!"
"I can't believe a colossal idiot like you actually handed them money for it!"
"And you had the nerve to drag that hazardous pollutant onto a national research island and nearly fry our precious Sovereign-X Dragon?!"
Mr. Harrison was practically vibrating with rage, pointing a finger through the screen and shredding Adrian to pieces.
Adrian took the verbal beating in
horrified silence. His face cycled from pale white to sickly green looking as though he had just beem. slapped a dozen times in rapid
succession.

Having thoroughly exhausted his
rage, Mr. Harrison immediately
turned back to Serena, his
expression softening into a warm
grandfatherly smile. Miss
Lancaster, why do you even
entertain idiots like him?"
"From now on, just have security throw trash like that into the ocean. Don't dirty your eyes."
Serena smirked. "That was the plan."
Adrian stood frozen in place, feeling the blood in his veins turn to solid ice.
The sheer, unadulterated humiliation suffocated him. He couldn't even bring himself to look at Serena or the screen again.
Crushed by the weight of his own embarrassment, he turned and fled the lab like a beaten dog.
