Seeing him like this, the residual adrenaline from the race faded away. She actually found it quite amusing.
She had just endured a high-stakes race and was genuinely tired.
Since he was willing to carry her, she couldn't be bothered to struggle.
She simply let Nicholas carry her into the elevator, lazily giving him the floor and room number.

The moment Serena's feet touched the carpet, before she could even steady herself, a powerful force pinned her against the door.
"Why are you here?" Serena asked, trapped between his arms and his chest. She was entirely enveloped by his crisp, pine-scented cologne.
Nicholas looked down at her, his dark eyes burning with chaotic emotions. His voice was hard. "If I didn't come, you were going to run off with some random guy!"
"What random guy?" Serena poked his chest in amusement. "Watch your words."
"You're still defending him!" Nicholas was so angry the edges of his eyes turned redder. He sounded exactly like a loyal dog throwing a massive tantrum You didn't listen to word I said!"
"Hm?" Serena looked up, confused.

Nicholas stood his ground. "I told you, if you didn't check in, I would fly out here to find you!"
Serena called him out. "It takes over ten hours to fly here from the country. You must have left right after we hung up yesterday, Nicholas."

He paused, his eyes growing redder. "If I hadn't come, I never would have known

He practically ground his teeth together as he repeated Douglas's exact words.
Serena blinked. Seeing his devastatingly handsome face twisted with jealousy gave him a dangerous, seductive appeal.
His aggrieved, possessive expression was incredibly cute.
She suddenly felt the urge to tease him. She curled her red lips into a smile. "Actually, he's great."
His eyes darkened ominously.
She kept smiling. "He's handsome, he can fight, and he's loaded. He even stepped
up to handle my mess and got revenge for me today."
