"Douglas."
Serena sheathed her blades, her gaze sweeping over his bleeding face and arm. "Let's get out of here and patch you and Mr. White up."
Douglas felt completely out of his depth.
He looked at his own wounds, then at Mr. White being carried out by his men, and
nodded wordlessly.
Outside the warehouse.
Nicholas had a first aid kit ready.
When Serena walked out, he casually pulled out a wet wipe, took her hand, and meticulously cleaned her fingers.
The laptop sat nearby, its screen displaying the security feed from the warehouse. Clearly, Nicholas had been watching the bloodbath unfold in real-time.
"Douglas."
Allowing Nicholas to dote on her, Serena looked up, a sly smirk on her face.
Her smile was arrogant, untamed, and perfectly mischievous.
"You got front-row seats to a masterclass, I saved your life, and I wiped out your worst enemy."
“Do you still feel like you got ripped off when I scammed you out of that billion dollars at the underground auction?"
Douglas stared at her for a moment.
Then he threw his head back and roared with laughter, completely ignoring the sting
in his wounds. "Hahaha! No! Not at all!"
"A bargain! Best money I've ever spent!"
"I'd pay a hundred billion if you asked! Worth every penny!"
Hell, he'd give her his entire fortune without blinking!
With a niece like this, who in the global underworld would ever dare challenge him?
Serena shot him a glance and smiled.
Her uncle might be a bit of an amateur, but he had good taste.
Once Nicholas finished wiping her hands, she stepped back. "I'll go check on Mr.
White. Patch Douglas up."
Nicholas looked at Douglas.
Douglas looked at Nicholas.
"Me?"
"Him?"
Serena arched a brow. "Is there a problem?"
Nicholas glanced at Douglas, a faint smirk touching his lips. “Not at all. As long as Douglas doesn't mind, I'd be happy to."
Douglas pressed his lips into a hard line, glaring at Nicholas's

Nicholas nodded with a charming smile. “Don't worry, Douglas. I'll be very 'gentle'.”
He emphasized the word 'gentle'.
Once Serena walked away to stabilize Mr. White.
Douglas discovered exactly what Nicholas's version of 'gentle' felt like.
It was so 'gentle' that Douglas, the ruthless Underground King who had survived years of gang warfare, * couldn't stop his face from violently
in pain.

Mr. White was in critical condition.
If Serena hadn't intervened immediately, he wouldn't have survived the ride back to the medical center.
He had multiple fractures and internal bleeding. He wouldn't be leaving a hospital bed for at least a month.
Let alone holding a scalpel.
A month.
But Holden's surgery was scheduled for next week.
Inside the medical center's office.
Dr. Julian Miller paced frantically. "What do we do? Mr. Vinton's surgery is urgent.
With Mr. White incapacitated... we'll have to postpone.”
"We can't postpone," Dr. Baldur argued, frowning heavily. "Miss Serena has been conditioning him, but according to the latest labs, his body won't hold out much longer!"
"But who in the United Realmon States has the skill to assist her other than Mr. White?"
Sitting at the head of the table, Serena flipped calmly through her grandfather's latest charts. "The surgery proceeds as scheduled."
"As scheduled?" Dr. Miller and Dr. Baldur exchanged worried looks. "Mr. White is the head of the core team. Without him..."
"Without him, we still operate," she said without looking up. "I'll handle the surgical team."
Douglas froze. “Serena, do you mean... you're going to be the lead surgeon for your grandfather's operation?"
