Douglas followed closely behind. "What's the play, Silas?"
"Lock down all exits. No one leaves this facility," Silas ordered, his eyes freezing over. "Pull all security footage from the VIP ward over the last three days. I've read the medical reports; his vitals were steadily improving. This kind of sudden collapse is impossible."
Standing nearby, Anna's heart plummeted. All the blood rushed from her face.
Douglas smirked lazily. "Our niece already flagged it. The humidifierin his room was tampered with. I sent it out for emergency testing. The results will be pushed straight to my phone any minute."
A ripple of surprise crossed Silas's eyes.

"The humidifier..." He narrowed his gaze. "Anyone who could tamper with that had
to be close to him. Check everyone who entered that room recently."
Douglas nodded. "Already ordered the sweep right after I sent the device out. We'll have a list soon."

Anna stood trembling violently against the wall, pale as a ghost.
She had backed into a trash can, knocking it over.
