Marcus's words were self-righteous and blunt.
He berated Serena as an ignorant young girl who was just putting on a show, and he even burdened her with the heavy accusation of tarnishing the reputation of traditional medicine.
The condescending tone made the Lancaster family elders' expressions darken, and they shot Marcus Doyle looks of displeasure.
"Grandpa, Dad, Mom, Julian, please don't be angry!" Isabella, ever skilled at reading the room, put on a facade of concern for Old Mr. Lancaster. "Mr. Doyle isn't wrong. Serena is just anxious to help Grandpa, but..... I'm also genuinely worried that she's under too much pressure..."

Since Serena could pretend to treat their grandfather, then the master physician she brought would surely be able to do it for real!

Serena glanced at Isabella with cool, emotionless eyes.
She knew exactly what Isabella was thinking.

Seeing Serena "concede," Marcus Doyle let out a smug humph.
