# Chapter 2: The Attorney, The Wound, and the Woman Who Won't Bend

Hello everyone, it's me again! How are you all doing? Today I will continue to walk with you and review Chapter 2 of "Seduced By My Ex's Divorce Attorney audiobook free". And wow—this chapter is a slow-burn collision of anger, chemistry, and the kind of emotional whiplash that makes you forget where you are while reading. Hannah Crowley is not running from her past in this chapter. She is standing her ground, even while her body is busy betraying her. So let's dive in.

Roarke Baldwin does not wait for Hannah or her friends to answer him. Of course he doesn't. Like most things with Roarke, he doesn't seem to care what anyone else thinks. He tells Hannah that her words hurt, that he has done nothing to warrant her hatred. Hannah tilts her head, draws in a slow breath, and tries to count herself calm. One. Two. Three. It doesn't work. Not even close.

She tells him the truth as she sees it: he took from her. He stole things from her. Things her ex-husband did not deserve. Roarke, cool as ever, reminds her that his client paid him to do a service, and he did that service. Hannah fires back that his client never worked for that money. Todd never sweated for that vacation home. His surgeon salary was untouched for most of their marriage. The anger is still there, raw and hot, but Hannah catches herself. She stops the mediation replay before it swallows her whole.

She raises a hand before Roarke can deliver his rebuttal. She says never mind. The divorce is over. She is rid of that name now. It is what it is. But she assures him—Mr. Baldwin—that she does not need his help now, nor will she need it in the future. Thank you for the offer, but they are fine.

And then Roarke smiles. That smile is a weapon. It is the smile of a man who just got exactly what he wanted, who knows he has rattled her, who can feel the tension in the air like static before a storm. He slides out of the booth with the kind of finesse that makes other men look clumsy by comparison. Goodnight, Mr. Baldwin, Hannah says. He answers with a teasing "Han... Ms. Crowley." His knuckles rap the tabletop, and his eyes still take her in, slow and deliberate.

Saliva pools in Hannah's mouth, but she refuses to swallow. She will not let him witness her physical attraction to him. She asks if there is something else. Her eyes stay trained on his, even as the ache between her thighs grows. Roarke tells her that should things change, she knows where to find him. Then he winks and moves on. Chelsea's eyes follow him for a moment. Hannah assumes he has gone to make people on the other side of the room miserable with his presence.

Usually, Hannah would resort to curse words and another drink or two after reliving her divorce with the man who facilitated it. But the ladies need to trust that their boss can handle an egotistical man trying to play the white knight. Chelsea is the first to break the silence. "Holy shit," she says, clutching her stomach like she might vomit. She thought she and Dean were intense, but Hannah and Roarke? That was something else. Hannah warns her with a single word: "Chels."

Victoria downs the rest of her Vesper and tells Hannah good for her, that Roarke can go suck it. Chelsea, still awestruck, cannot stop rambling. She calls him commanding. She says he looks like he would do nasty stuff to you, but you would enjoy every minute and then beg for more. Hannah does not disagree. Roarke Baldwin screams strap me to a bed and show me how a real man does it. Not that she would ever say that out loud. No, she would fall to her knees and show him exactly how a woman can transform him into making her breakfast the next morning. But if she lets one toe dip in that water, she is sure he will swallow her up like a hungry crocodile. That is why the electric fence stays between them—so it can zap her every time her lady parts want to take a dip.

Victoria reminds Chelsea about Dean, her fiancé. Chelsea waves a hand and rolls her eyes. Dean knows he is the only one for her. She will tell him all about Roarke Baldwin when she gets home, and he will probably be extra alpha tonight to prove he is the real man. She looks giddy at the thought, a flush rising on her cheeks. She gives Hannah credit, though. Chelsea says she would have crumbled, and she is a hard case to break. Victoria teases that all Dean had to do was get Chelsea alone in his office, and Chelsea blushes even harder.

For a moment, Hannah wonders what if. What if she had not settled with Todd? What would fate have brought her way if she had stayed single? Roarke Baldwin? Her subconscious needs a real talking to. She shakes the thought away and shifts the conversation back to business. She tells Chelsea she doesn't care what she has to do. She will pay whatever it costs. Find her a venue. Chelsea nods, knowing they are shifting into go time. Hannah hired her because she saw her capability of turning no's into yes's, and she feels assured Chelsea won't fail her now. There is no way Hannah can go to Roarke Baldwin and let the man have one up on her. At least not without losing her dignity.

The next morning, Hannah arrives at the office and finds Chelsea in Victoria's office, carrying on and on. Usually, Hannah would be happy to listen, but she needs Chelsea on her A-game. She does not need to hear about Dean's mind-blowing sex performance from last night. Hannah drops her bags on the chair in front of Victoria's desk and makes her way down the short hallway. She hears Chelsea chuckle and say, "Look at me. I can't stop." Victoria tells her she is glowing. Hannah stops in the doorway, arms landing on the sides. "You can't what? Stop smiling. Enough with the—"

Then she sees Chelsea's red, bloodshot eyes. Oh no. Please say no. Hannah asks what is wrong. Victoria smiles softly, indicating it is not the conclusion Hannah is drawing. Chelsea is experiencing first-trimester pregnancy, that's all. When your hormones are zooming all over your body like little space cadets. Chelsea grabs a tissue and blows her nose. "Can't I shoot them down like Centipede?" Victoria, always full of mom wisdom, corrects her: Centipede is a bug. Maybe she means Space Invaders? And with that, the chapter leaves us with a laugh, a secret, and a whole lot of new complications on the horizon.

## Reader's Impressions & Star Rating

This chapter is pure tension and charm. Hannah is fierce, wounded, and wonderfully human. Roarke is the kind of complicated male lead who makes you want to hate him and then immediately reconsider. The chemistry between them is electric, but what really made this chapter shine was Hannah's friendship with Chelsea and Victoria. Their banter keeps the story from drowning in angst, and Chelsea's pregnancy reveal at the end is a perfect emotional curveball.

I loved that Hannah refuses to be a damsel. She does not accept Roarke's help, even when it might make her life easier. That stubbornness is both her strength and her Achilles' heel. Roarke's final wink and "you know where to find me" line linger long after the chapter ends. You just know he is not done with her.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rating: 4.8 / 5 Stars

## Next Chapter Prediction

Chelsea's pregnancy is going to shake up the workplace dynamic. She may try to hide her symptoms or push through, but Hannah will notice. Meanwhile, the venue problem is still unsolved. I predict Hannah will either be forced to cross paths with Roarke again—maybe because he has a connection to a venue, or because he shows up at her office—or she will find a solution that puts her dangerously close to him. Either way, the electric fence between them is about to get tested. And with Chelsea's hormones and Dean's alpha tendencies, there will be plenty of chaotic, funny, and steamy moments ahead.
