# Chapter 144: The Weight of Silence
Hello everyone, it's me again! How are you all doing? Today I will continue to walk with you and review Chapter 144 of "The Breaking Point of Love" – a chapter where the past and present collide in the most painful of ways, and where Celeste is forced to confront the searing truth of just how far Trevor is willing to go for another woman.
---
The meal with Beck and Shanice had left Celeste with a strange, bittersweet taste in her mouth. As she drove home alone, the hum of the engine was the only sound filling the silence. But then her phone rang, breaking the solitude. It was Lottie.
“Cel, where are you? I’m exhausted! Hurry up and come pick me up for dinner.”
Celeste didn’t mention she had already eaten. She simply asked for the location. Yorkshire Garden – a classical courtyard-style residential complex from a few years ago. Lottie had been there all morning house-hunting with her aunt, and her voice carried the unmistakable weariness of a long, fruitless day. Celeste adjusted her GPS and drove toward her friend.
But fate had a cruel sense of timing.
Barely ten minutes later, Lottie called again, her voice sharp with irritation. “Damn! Guess who I just ran into?”
Celeste’s chest tightened. These days, there was only one person who could make Lottie curse like that on sight.
“Trevor and Wynn with her whole family! He’s here showing the Locket family around!”
Celeste stared straight ahead, her face an unreadable mask. She let out a neutral hum, but inside, a cold truth settled in her gut. Most of the time, when Trevor and Wynn went out, they brought Jordyn along. So the reason he had left his own daughter home alone today was because he was busy playing tour guide for the Locket family’s house hunt. It made a terrible kind of sense. The Shaw family had already settled into their new home. Now it was the Lockets’ turn to find their place in Baumond.
When Celeste arrived at Yorkshire Garden, she parked and sent Lottie her location. Lottie said she’d be out soon, but needed to stop by the sales office to use the restroom. So Celeste headed that way.
Just as she was stepping out of her car, she caught sight of three familiar figures walking toward the parking lot: Erin, Harvey, and Lilian. They were all smiling brightly, their faces glowing with satisfaction. Celeste watched them from a distance, her heart sinking. They entered the parking lot from the other side and never noticed her.
A few minutes later, as Celeste approached the entrance of the sales office, she came face to face with the last person she wanted to see. Trevor and Wynn walked out surrounded by a crowd of high-ranking sales executives. Seven or eight of them were bowing and scraping, all smiles.
Trevor glanced sideways at her – a cold, dismissive glance. Wynn, clinging to his arm like a trophy, gave her a look that could freeze water.
Celeste withdrew her gaze indifferently and walked past them, heading straight for Lottie.
Once they were out of earshot, Lottie gritted her teeth and whispered, “The houses here start at 300 million! I just heard from the staff that the villa Trevor bought for the Locket family is the highest-end model – over 600 million!”
Celeste responded with a simple hum.
Lottie watched her expression carefully, then added, “And I also heard that the reason they came here to buy a house is because Wynn’s mom likes the style...”
For just a fraction of a second, Celeste’s steps faltered – so slight it was almost invisible. So that was it. No wonder Lilian had been smiling so happily earlier. It wasn’t just a random house hunt. It was a gift. A grand, lavish gesture to win over Wynn’s family.
Suppressing the storm inside her, Celeste said calmly, “I’m going to the restroom.”
“Okay,” Lottie replied, her eyes full of concern.
Inside the restroom, Celeste clenched her hand into a fist. She told herself she no longer felt anything when people talked about how much Trevor adored Wynn. But hearing that he was trying to please Lilian – that he was buying a six hundred million villa just to make Wynn’s mother happy – that struck a nerve she thought had gone numb.
And then, voices drifted in from outside.
“That Mr. Fleming really has good taste. His girlfriend is gorgeous.”
“Right? And her mother, too – elegant and classy. The best part? Her husband and in-laws let her do whatever she wants. Everything revolves around her preferences. She’s so spoiled!”
“Ugh, looking at her and then at my own husband and in-laws just makes me mad.”
“Exactly! And Mr. Fleming treats his girlfriend so well. They’re not even married yet, and he just spent over 600 million to buy her family a villa. Seriously, some women just win at life.”
The words hung in the air like a poisoned mist. Celeste stood perfectly still, staring at her reflection in the mirror. The woman looking back at her was calm, composed, unbroken. But inside, the cracks were widening.

## Reader’s Impressions & Star Rating
This chapter is a slow, agonizing burn. The contrast between the cheerful laughter of the Lockets and the quiet devastation of Celeste is masterfully painful. Every detail – from Trevor’s cold glance to the gossip of strangers in the restroom – drives the knife deeper. Celeste’s composure is both admirable and heartbreaking. You can feel her trying to convince herself she’s okay, while the world keeps proving otherwise. The writing captures that hollow ache of watching someone treat another person with the love you once so desperately craved.
**⭐ Rating: 4.6 / 5 Stars** – Beautifully painful, but we need more of Celeste’s breaking point.
## Next Chapter Prediction
The next chapter will likely plunge us into the aftermath of this encounter. Celeste may finally let her guard down with Lottie, revealing the true depth of her hurt. Alternatively, we might see Trevor’s perspective – or a confrontation between Celeste and Lilian. The tension is building, and the breaking point of love is drawing closer. Something has to give.
