# Chapter 173: An Unwelcome Web of Coincidences
Hello everyone, it's me again! How are you all doing? Today I will continue to walk with you and review Chapter 173 of "The Breaking Point of Love" – a chapter where the world feels impossibly small and tensions run high as Celeste and Matthias find themselves surrounded by people who wish nothing but ill for her.
---
The restaurant buzzed with the quiet clink of cutlery and murmured conversations. But as Celeste caught sight of the approaching Shaw and Locket families, her face remained a perfect mask of indifference. She had learned long ago not to show her cards in front of enemies.
Beside her, Matthias muttered under his breath, his voice dripping with irony: "What a small world."
The two families, however, were absolutely delighted to see him. Harvey Shaw stepped forward with a broad smile, extending a hand in greeting. "Mr. Yoder, we meet again."
Matthias offered only the faintest trace of a smile. "Yes."
Harvey, seeing an opportunity he couldn't resist, pressed further. "Since we've run into each other, why don't we dine together? It would be our pleasure." Earlier on the phone, he had already tried to invite Matthias for a meal. Now, fate seemed to hand him the perfect chance on a silver platter.
But Matthias was not so easily cornered. "No need. This is my personal time. Maybe next time."
The polite but firm refusal left Harvey with no room to insist. "Well… alright. Next time then."
Matthias nodded curtly, then turned to Celeste. "Let's go."
Without so much as a glance at the Locket or Shaw families, Celeste followed him upstairs. She could feel their eyes boring into her back, but she refused to give them the satisfaction of her attention.
Behind them, Lennox Locket frowned deeply. He spoke in a low, worried tone to his companions. "Wynn told me that Matthias has always kept his attitude lukewarm toward her because of Celeste. Do you think he'll refuse to work with us on the Yoda Vision project because of her?"
Given Matthias's cold indifference, it was a troubling possibility.
Lilian Shaw answered lightly, "There's still some time before the bidding for the Yoda Vision project. Nothing is set in stone yet. Anything is possible."
Mason chuckled, trying to lift the mood. "Exactly. Look at Wynn and Trevor – their relationship couldn't progress because of Mrs. Fleming Senior's interference. But now, things have suddenly turned around, haven't they? So we shouldn't lose hope. There's still a chance."
The turnaround he spoke of was, of course, Trevor and Celeste's impending divorce. At the mention of it, Patricia's mood brightened considerably. None of them – including Wynn – had known about the divorce proceedings until Miles had casually mentioned it to her. Apparently, the paperwork was taking longer than expected. Trevor hadn't told Wynn because he didn't want her to worry. He wanted to surprise her once everything was finalized.
Patricia beamed, her face practically glowing with satisfaction. "Trevor has wanted a divorce for a long time. Now that Wynn got injured saving him, he's ignoring his grandma's objections and insisting on divorcing Celeste. He truly cares for Wynn."
A chorus of agreement followed. "Yes, all of Wynn's patience is finally paying off. Her happy days are just around the corner."
"Indeed."
Even Lilian and Harvey smiled at this.
But then, as Patricia's gaze drifted toward the direction where Celeste and Matthias had disappeared, her smile faded. "That Celeste surely doesn't want a divorce. What if, in the end, it doesn't go through?"
Gillian Locket spoke up calmly. "Don't worry. Wynn told me that Trevor usually makes his own decisions. The reason he hadn't divorced before was that he was waiting for the right time – he didn't want to upset his grandma. But he has always been devoted to Wynn. Now that she almost lost her life for him, he's directly demanding a divorce from Celeste. That means he's no longer willing to let Wynn suffer. He's made up his mind, so the chances of the divorce going through are very high."
Patricia wasn't entirely convinced. "I don't know. What I'm worried about is Celeste causing trouble and making Trevor back down."
Harvey and Erin Locket exchanged a meaningful look. "Then we might need to talk to her."
Meanwhile, high above them, Celeste and Matthias had no idea what the Locket and Shaw families were plotting. But as they stepped out of the elevator and began walking toward their private dining room, three tall figures appeared before them.
Seeing them, Matthias's face darkened. "Am I cursed today?" he muttered under his breath. Why did he keep running into people?
Celeste studied the three men. One she recognized – and another looked vaguely familiar, though she couldn't quite place where she had seen him before.
The men spotted them as well. One of them greeted Matthias with a smile. "Matthias, what a coincidence."
Matthias forced a smile onto his face. "Yeah, quite the coincidence."
Earlier that afternoon, Jorge had called Matthias, hoping to invite him to dinner and discuss a potential collaboration. Now they had literally run into each other. Jorge, deliberately ignoring Celeste, suggested, "Since we're all here, why not have a meal together?"
Another man laughed. "Yeah, it's been a while since we last had one together."
But Matthias shook his head. "No thanks. I have things to do. It's not convenient." Then he turned his attention to the third man. "Caleb, how come you're free today?"
Caleb Fennings – strikingly handsome, with an impassive face – replied, "I took a few days off."
Matthias nodded, clearly not wanting to prolong the conversation. "Let's leave the meal for another time. We have things to do."
Caleb simply nodded in response.
Then Matthias guided Celeste into their private dining room, leaving the three men standing in the hallway.
After they had walked some distance away, Caleb finally spoke, his voice cool. "Did one of you offend him?"
Matthias had made it obvious – his attitude clearly showed he had no interest in engaging with them.
Jorge shook his head, puzzled. "I don't think so."
Jorge frowned but remained silent, his mind churning with unease.
Inside their private room, Xavier took a sip of tea and commented, "I have to say, Matthias is pretty impressive. If those two projects go through, his net worth will skyrocket."
Caleb responded coolly, "He's always been smart. He was mentored by Zachary, and his field of study happened to align perfectly with industry trends. And he's highly capable. His success is only natural."
Then he turned to Jorge, his eyes sharp. "I heard from Xavier that you were once interested in the woman by Matthias's side but quickly moved on. Moving on is one thing, but why do you seem to dislike her now? Did she do something?"
Earlier, Jorge hadn't even looked at Celeste. His dislike was so apparent that it was impossible to ignore.
Mentioning how he had once been captivated by Celeste's beauty and presence was now something Jorge didn't want to hear. It annoyed him deeply. He frowned and said brusquely, "Can we not talk about her? Let's just order."
Caleb shrugged and dropped the topic, but the unspoken tension lingered in the air.

## Reader's Impressions & Star Rating
This chapter brilliantly captures the suffocating web of alliances and enemies that surround Celeste. The coincidental meetings – first with the Locket and Shaw families, then with Jorge and his companions – are masterfully woven to heighten the sense that everyone is closing in on her. Matthias's protectiveness shines through, even as he remains outwardly cold. The subplot with Trevor's divorce adds a ticking clock of hope for Wynn and dread for Celeste, leaving readers on edge. The chapter is tense, layered, and emotionally charged.
