Wynn put down her phone after her first attempt to reach Beck went unanswered. She turned to Lennox with a small, reassuring smile. "He might be busy. I'll try calling again later."
More than half an hour crawled by before she dialed Beck's number once more. This time, the call connected. Beck's voice came through the line, calm and collected, as if he hadn't just deliberately ignored her first call.
"Hope I'm not bothering you?" Wynn asked politely.
"Not at all," Beck replied smoothly, though the truth was he had seen her call the first time and simply chosen not to pick up.
When Wynn explained the reason for her call – that she was asking him to arrange a job for Janet Linvale – Beck paused. "Why not arrange for her to work at Trevor's company instead?" he asked, his tone carrying a hint of curiosity or perhaps suspicion.
Wynn's smile remained steady as she answered, "Trevor's company isn't hiring right now."
A brief silence settled between them before Beck finally relented. "What's her name?"
"Janet Linvale."
After confirming the spelling, Beck agreed. "Alright. Got it. Have her submit a resume through the regular process over the next few days."
Wynn's gratitude was genuine. "Thanks, Beck."
But before he could respond, she felt a sudden urge to bridge the distance between them with casual conversation. "What are you up to now? Been busy lately?"
The question hung in the air, unanswered.
A soft, pleasant female voice drifted through the phone from Beck's end. "Beck, who are you talking to?"
"Nothing." Beck's tone turned icy in an instant, the warmth evaporating like morning dew under harsh sunlight. Then, dismissively, he said to Wynn, "I have something to take care of. I'm hanging up now."
Before she could utter another word, the line went dead.
Wynn raised her eyebrows thoughtfully. That woman's voice had barely registered before Beck's entire demeanor shifted. His abruptness felt deliberate – almost as if he was protecting her from hearing too much, from misunderstanding the nature of his relationship with that mysterious woman.
Setting her phone down, Wynn turned to Lennox. "Beck agreed."
Lennox's gratitude was warm and genuine. "Thank you, Wynn."
Linda, sitting nearby with a smug expression, whispered to Janet, "See? I told you. As long as Wynn speaks up, Beck would definitely agree."
Janet paused, her eyes lingering on Wynn a few moments longer than necessary. There was something in that gaze – curiosity, perhaps, or admiration for the quiet power Wynn seemed to wield without even trying.

That evening, after returning from the Rodriguez residence to her own apartment, Celeste turned on her computer to continue working. Her phone buzzed. Trevor was calling.
She didn't answer.
Instead, she turned her phone off completely.
It wasn't until the following morning that she powered it back on. Messages from Trevor blinked on her screen:
[I want to talk to you.]
[It's about Grandma's birthday celebration.]
[I hope you'll attend.]
When she didn't reply, he stopped sending more messages.
Celeste ignored him. She went about her morning routine – washing up, making breakfast – until her phone buzzed again. Trevor, calling once more.
She frowned, pretended not to see it, and let it ring.
He called two or three more times. When it became clear she wouldn't pick up, he finally gave up.
The day progressed normally. Celeste went to work at Yoda Vision Co. as usual. That afternoon, Jorge Robinson happened to visit the office for business, and Matthias was the one who received him.
When noon arrived, Jorge, ever persistent, tried to invite Matthias to lunch. As always, Matthias declined. With no other choice, Jorge left with his own colleagues.
But as he stepped into the parking lot downstairs, he stopped short.
There, leaning casually against a car door, was Trevor Fleming. He looked like a man waiting for someone – patient, expectant, and utterly determined.
Jorge paused, then stepped forward and greeted him cautiously. "Mr. Fleming."
Trevor looked up, offering a pleasant smile. "Mr. Robinson, here on business at Yoda Vision?"
"Yes."
Thinking of how proactive Trevor had been toward Celeste lately, Jorge kept his expression neutral. "You came here to...?"
"I'm here to see Celeste." Trevor's smile widened as he glanced up at the office building. "She should be upstairs?"
Jorge pressed his lips together, but before he could answer, Trevor sighed and added, "She won't answer my calls or reply to my messages. I had no choice but to come here and wait for her."
Just as Jorge opened his mouth to respond, the building doors opened. Celeste and Matthias walked out together. Seeing both Trevor and Jorge waiting in the parking lot, they both stopped mid-stride.
Matthias inwardly groaned. Every instinct screamed at him to turn right back into the building, to avoid the inevitable awkwardness. But that was just a fleeting thought. They continued walking, heading straight past Trevor and Jorge without a word of acknowledgment, making their way toward their car.
Trevor moved, intercepting Celeste's path. "Let's talk."
Matthias, unaware that Trevor had hugged Celeste after the last conference, frowned. All he knew was that Trevor had always hidden their marriage, never wanting anyone to know about their connection. Now, seeing him approach Celeste openly in broad daylight, completely unbothered by who might be watching, Matthias turned to Celeste with a silent question: *What the hell is he doing?*
Celeste's expression hardened. She had known the moment she saw Trevor that he was here for her. But she hadn't expected him to be so... unreserved. Showing up at her workplace, confronting her in public – this was not the Trevor who used to guard their secret so carefully.
"I'm not going," she said coldly, her voice cutting through the morning air.
Trevor held her gaze. "No need to rush your decision. If you have any conditions, we can talk."
Celeste's eyes glinted with steel. "I don't think there's a need. If I need to talk, I have nothing to say to you."
The words hung between them like a drawn sword.

## Reader's Impressions & Star Rating
What a tense, emotionally charged chapter! The contrast between Wynn's quiet influence and Celeste's fierce independence is brilliantly drawn. Beck's cold dismissal after that mysterious woman's voice sent chills – there's clearly more to his story than meets the eye. And Trevor showing up at Celeste's workplace, refusing to be ignored? That's a man who's finally realizing what he might lose. Celeste's refusal to budge, her cold dismissal, is utterly satisfying. She's no longer the woman who would run after him. She's standing her ground.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ **Rating: 4.7 / 5 Stars**
## Next Chapter Prediction
Trevor's public confrontation at Yoda Vision Co. will likely escalate. Will Matthias intervene? Or will Trevor push harder, maybe even revealing their marriage to force Celeste's hand? And what about that mysterious woman on Beck's end – will we learn who she is and what she means to him? The stage is set for explosive confrontations on multiple fronts!
