About thirty minutes later, Celeste pulled into the restaurant Beck had reserved. As she stepped out of her car, Beck and Shanice arrived at the same time. The moment Shanice spotted her, she came running. “Ms. Celeste!”
Celeste crouched down and hugged the little girl warmly. Glancing around at all the high-end cars, she commented, “This place is seriously booming.”
Beck chuckled softly. “The owner really knew how to build hype. It has become the place to meet if you want to talk business.”
“I see.”
“Let’s head inside,” Beck said.
“Okay.”
They walked toward the entrance of the restaurant, a picture of easy companionship. But just then, nearby, Wynn stepped out of her car, still on a call. She ended it, closed the door, and turned to head toward the same restaurant. At that very moment, her gaze fell on the sight of Celeste, Beck, and Shanice walking together. She froze.
