# Chapter 73: The Faint Scent of Another Woman Hello everyone, it's me again! How are you all doing? Today I will continue to walk with you and review Chapter 73 of "The Breaking Point of Love" – a chapter filled with quiet awkwardness, unspoken tensions, and the growing distance between two people who once shared everything. Let me take you through this complex web of emotions. --- The day started with an innocent accident that left Celeste deeply embarrassed. Shanice, little girl that she is, had tugged at Celeste's collar without meaning to, exposing more than Celeste would ever want anyone but Trevor to see. Her face flushed crimson. She quickly adjusted her clothes, feeling the weight of Beck's gaze upon her – even though he had already turned away the moment he realized what had happened. Celeste is a reserved woman by nature. She had never revealed so much of her body to any man other than Trevor. And the fact that the man standing before her was Trevor's good friend made her discomfort ten times worse. She could barely form proper sentences as she muttered something about needing to leave. Beck apologized, of course. And little Shanice, realizing she had done something wrong, looked up at Celeste with teary eyes, her innocent voice trembling as she said she was sorry. Celeste couldn't stay angry. She knew the child meant no harm. So she smiled, waved goodbye, and stepped into the elevator, leaving Beck standing there watching the doors close. Later that afternoon, Celeste had to head to the Fleming Manor for dinner. Matthias walked her to the parking lot, reminding her to drive safely. As they stood there talking, a car slowly pulled up beside them. The backseat window rolled down, and there was Shanice again, waving enthusiastically, calling out goodbye to Celeste. Celeste smiled and waved back. Then she saw Beck staring at her – or rather, staring at Matthias standing beside her. She gave Beck a quick nod, and he returned it. But his gaze lingered on Matthias a moment longer than necessary before the car drove away. Matthias noticed it too. He rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "Why do I feel like he was scrutinizing me just now?" Celeste shrugged it off. "Really? Why would he do that?" But Matthias couldn't shake the feeling that Beck was examining him, judging him. He wondered aloud if Beck was watching him for Trevor's sake, worried that something might be going on between Celeste and him. At that, Celeste's smile faded slightly. She answered flatly, "Trust me, it has nothing to do with that." And she meant it. Because in truth, Beck was just as close to Wynn as he was to Trevor. Beck would probably prefer to see Trevor and Wynn together. He and Miles would probably be the first to celebrate if Celeste found someone else and left Trevor alone. So why would Beck care if Celeste cheated on Trevor? No, that wasn't it at all. Celeste got into her car and drove away. By the time she arrived at the Fleming Manor, the night had fully settled in. Only Martha and the housekeepers were there. When Martha learned Celeste had arrived, she came out to welcome her with a warm smile – but that smile froze when she saw Celeste was alone. "Where's Jo?" Martha asked. It was common for Trevor not to arrive in the same car as Celeste, so Martha didn't bother asking about him. But Jordyn always came with her mother. This was unusual. Celeste realized she had no idea where Jordyn and Trevor had gone for the weekend, or who they were with. She hadn't asked. She didn't feel the need to. "They should be here soon," Celeste answered with a smile, though deep down she wasn't sure at all. Hadn't something similar happened before, when they went to the hot spring retreat and Trevor never showed? Martha didn't press further. She trusted that Celeste knew Trevor and Jordyn's schedule. So they chatted for a long time, the evening stretching on. But when it reached 7:30 PM and there was still no sign of Trevor or Jordyn, Martha's patience began to fray. "Why are they still not here yet?" she frowned. Then she remembered how Trevor had failed to show up at the hot spring retreat last time. Her voice turned firm. "Cel, try giving them a call." Celeste had no choice but to take out her phone and call Trevor. He picked up immediately, as if he had already guessed why she was calling. "We'll be there in 20 minutes," he said before she could even speak. But just as Celeste was about to respond, she heard Jordyn's voice through the phone. Clear as day. "Goodbye, Wynn." Celeste lowered her gaze. So that was it. Of course. They had been with Wynn. Then Wynn's voice followed. Soft, sweet. "Goodbye, Jo." And then, speaking to Trevor in that gentle tone she always used with him, "I'll get going now." "Okay," Trevor replied. And then his voice was back, cold and businesslike, directed at Celeste. "Is there anything else you need?" "No," she said. Celeste was about to hang up, but Trevor did it before her. She let out a sigh. "What's wrong? Is he not coming back again?" Martha asked furiously. "Trevor, he really is—" "No," Celeste reassured her with a faint smile. "They're just stuck in traffic. They'll be here in 20 minutes." Martha's expression softened slightly, but she was still upset. "Forget about him. Let's just eat. He can deal with the leftovers." Peter, the butler, reminded her gently, "Ms. Fleming is still on her way as well..." Martha hesitated, then hummed reluctantly. "Fine. I'll let him off this time for the sake of Jo." Celeste smiled, but she didn't say anything. --- Twenty minutes later, Trevor finally arrived with Jordyn. Martha's eyes lit up the moment she saw her granddaughter. She ignored Trevor completely and focused all her attention on Jordyn, hugging her and ruffling her hair. Then Jordyn came over to Celeste and greeted her with a cheerful "Hi, Mom." Celeste hummed and hugged her daughter back. But as she held Jordyn close, she noticed it. The faint scent of Wynn's perfume lingering on Jordyn's clothes. She said nothing about it. She simply pushed Jordyn away gently. Trevor sat down beside Martha and placed a box before her. "This is a token of apology." It was a pack of Coffea Arábica – Martha's favorite coffee. Extremely rare and difficult to find even at a high price. Martha knew Trevor was apologizing for missing the hot spring retreat last time. She let out a huff but accepted it. "You've got me covered," she said. "But what about Cel? Did you get her anything as an apology?" Trevor was silent. He cast a brief glance at Celeste. It was just a quick look. Nothing deeper. No hidden emotions. Martha had meant to speak up for Celeste, to make Trevor care about her more. But to Celeste, there was no need for that anymore. She didn't look at Trevor. "Grandma, the food's getting cold. Let's dig in," she said with a smile. Martha thought Celeste was defending Trevor, just like she always did when Martha scolded him for neglecting her. She sighed deeply. "You're always on his side." Celeste smiled, but said nothing. And despite Celeste speaking up for him, Trevor's face remained cold and expressionless. He didn't seem grateful. He didn't seem moved. Just... indifferent. Martha stood up and took Jordyn's hand. "It's been a while since you dined with me, Jo. Do you want to sit beside me later?" Jordyn nodded obediently. "Okay." "What a good girl," Martha said, shooting Trevor a meaningful glance as she spoke, signaling to him. Celeste understood. Martha was trying to set them up again, forcing them to sit together. But Celeste didn't bother to watch Trevor's reaction. She just followed Martha to the dining room and sat down across from her and Jordyn. Then, out of the corner of her eye, she caught Trevor pulling out the chair beside her and sitting down. Finally, Martha grinned in satisfaction. When all the dishes were served, she spoke to Trevor. "Pass Cel the dishes." "It's okay, Grandma. I can—" Celeste started. But before she could finish, Trevor placed a dish of mashed potatoes – her favorite – right in front of her. Celeste paused. "Thank you." Trevor said nothing. This was how it always went. When Martha asked Trevor to pass dishes to Celeste, she meant for him to take care of her needs during the meal. And Trevor would always do it. He remembered everything she liked and disliked. He knew exactly what to give her. But that didn't mean much to Celeste anymore. After all, this had happened countless times over the years. Trevor had a sharp memory. He would remember these things even without effort. It meant nothing more than a well-trained habit. After dinner, Trevor chatted with Martha. Celeste sat nearby, listening but never initiating a conversation with him. She rarely even made eye contact. Martha watched them both and sighed deeply. She could feel the lack of communication between them. After so many years of marriage, they had grown distant, words failing to bridge the gap between their hearts. At around 9 PM, Martha grew tired. She waved her hand, gesturing for them all to get some rest upstairs. --- --- ## Reader's Impressions & Star Rating Oh, this chapter was heartbreaking in the quietest way possible. There's no big fight, no dramatic confrontation – just the slow, painful realization that Celeste and Trevor are becoming strangers to each other. The moment when Celeste smelled Wynn's perfume on Jordyn's clothes hit me especially hard. She noticed it, but she said nothing. It's like she's given up already. And Trevor? He does everything Martha asks, passes Celeste the right dishes, remembers her preferences, but it all feels mechanical. Empty. Like a robot going through the motions of a marriage. The distance between them is so vast, and neither of them seems willing to cross it anymore. **⭐ Rating: 4.6 / 5 Stars** --- ## Next Chapter Prediction I believe the tension is building toward something explosive. Martha is clearly trying to push Trevor and Celeste back together, but Trevor's heart seems to be somewhere else entirely – perhaps with Wynn. In the next chapter, something might happen that forces Celeste to confront the truth she's been avoiding. Maybe she'll finally ask Trevor about his relationship with Wynn, or maybe Wynn herself will appear and make things even more complicated. The silent war between Celeste and Trevor is reaching its breaking point, and I have a feeling the next chapter will be the beginning of the end. --- To listen free the next reviews chatpers, please access website novelsaudio.com and search keyword: The Breaking Point of Love or click the link in the description of this video or if you want to listen or read full the The Breaking Point of Love please access website goodnovel.com
