Chapter 1096:

“Ow!” Dylan exclaimed, his brow tightening in an exaggerated wince. He had been wondering how to bring up the scrape on his arm, and her movement had solved that for him.

“What happened? Did you injure yourself again?” Christina asked, concern flickering in her expression.

“Christina, my brother slipped this morning and scraped his arm,” Chloe explained quickly.

“It stings,” Dylan muttered, clutching his arm with a theatrical whine.

Chloe couldn’t suppress a giggle at her brother’s antics. He was far more endearing when his mind retreated to that of a kid. In recent days, the distance between Dylan and Christina had shrunk noticeably—much faster than when he was his normal self.

Still, Chloe silently wished Dylan would recover quickly, so he could both care for Christina and keep working hard to support her.

“Christina, now that you’re back, could you keep an eye on my brother for a while? My grandmother needs me, so I’ll have to head home,” Chloe said. She lied deliberately, wanting to give the two of them some time alone, hoping it would bring them closer. Since she knew Christina was returning today, she had already sent Robin away. Once she left, only Christina would be here with her brother.

“Let me send you back,” Christina offered at once, uneasy about Chloe going off alone. The hidden threat had not yet been dealt with, and the Scott family could still be in danger. Since the assassination attempt against Dylan failed, the attackers might turn their sights…

Christina’s attention shifted briefly to another member of the Scott family.

“No need. Morse is on his way here. He will give me a ride back,” Chloe replied brightly, a hint of shy excitement coloring her cheeks.

“Alright,” Christina said. Knowing Morse was on his way to collect Chloe, she felt reassured.

Christina watched until Morse arrived and Chloe left safely, and only then did she lead Dylan into the living room.

“Sit down and take off your jacket. I’ll get the first aid kit and redo your bandage,” Christina instructed, hurrying away. She didn’t notice Dylan standing behind her, his eyes locked on her back, a sly smile tugging at his lips.

When she returned with the kit, she found Dylan bare to the waist. His broad shoulders, narrow waist, sculpted chest, and defined abs were all on display.

Everything about him was perfectly balanced—nothing excessive, nothing lacking.

Christina’s gaze lingered for a moment on his toned stomach before she quickly looked away, coughing in embarrassment.

Dylan’s lips curved into a subtle, knowing smile. He recognized that her cough came from flustered nerves, though he masked it with feigned concern as he stepped closer.

“Chrissie, are you coming down with a cold?” Dylan asked, pretending ignorance. Seeing her flushed cheeks and the way she dodged his gaze, his smile deepened.
