Chapter 1103:
“Brendon, actually, we could just—” she began, but a hurried voice called from the doorway and cut her off.
“Brendon! That wretched Christina ran straight to Grandma the moment she returned. She’s trying to twist Grandma’s mind again.” Katie burst into the room, breathless with fury, her lips pulled tight in rage.
In Katie’s mind, her grandmother had grown more gullible with age, placing blind trust in that scheming Christina—even transferring the Dawson family’s residence into Christina’s name.
The very thought of it made Katie’s blood surge hot with anger. Neither she nor her brother had been given the residence; instead, it was handed over to an outsider.
Katie had no doubt that if Christina continued to worm her way into Grandma’s heart, it wouldn’t be long before she coaxed Grandma into signing over the company shares as well. Grandma still held a large portion of Dawson Group stock, and if Christina claimed it, there would be no place left for their own family in the company. How could the empire the Dawsons had built with their own hands be handed to a snake like Christina?
Brendon shot to his feet, his voice sharp with agitation. “Christina’s back? And she’s gone to Grandma’s place?”
“Yes. Brendon, we can’t let her keep working on Grandma. If Grandma gets any more confused and signs away the shares, we’re finished.” Katie’s words tumbled out in panic.
Brendon thought for a moment and then made up his mind. “Come on—let’s set off to Grandma’s place immediately.”
The siblings rushed out of the living room, completely ignoring Yolanda, who was left simmering with frustration.
“Brendon, wait for me!” Yolanda called, hurrying after them, her resentment burning like fire beneath her skin. If that fool Katie hadn’t barged in, she might already have persuaded Brendon to apply for the marriage certificate.

At the gate of the Dawson family’s residence, the elderly butler blocked Yolanda from entering. “Miss Mitchell, please step back. Mrs. Dawson has given explicit orders that you are not welcome here and cannot step in.”
“But I… I’m Brendon’s fiancée. We’ll be married soon. I’m practically family already. Why can’t I go in?” Yolanda’s eyes welled at once, her expression steeped in a mask of grievance.
She clenched her jaw, seething in silence. She cursed the butler inwardly, calling him a decrepit servant. She resolved right then and there that once that old crone Bethel dropped dead, she would make sure this butler regretted this. Brendon, who had been about to head inside, turned back when he saw Yolanda being stopped.
“Brendon, he won’t let me in…” Yolanda said, lips pouting, eyes rimmed with red, a picture of delicate sorrow.
“Since it’s Grandma’s order, you should wait outside for us. She’s old, and her health is fragile—it’s best not to upset her.” Brendon held her hand, pressing a kiss to her forehead in gentle reassurance. “Yolanda, forgive me for making you endure this.”
