Chapter 1196:

“I didn’t mean it… I’ll call an ambulance, I’m calling now…” she stammered, fumbling to pick the phone back up with shaking fingers.

Outside the emergency room.

Brendon hurried across the corridor, his mind churning with anxiety.

His gaze never left the sealed ER doors, and frustration simmered in his eyes when he turned on his mother.

“What happened? Why is Yolanda in the hospital?” Brendon pressed, suppressing his anger.

He was still desperate to believe it might be something minor. Joselyn faltered under his stare. Her words caught in her throat, and she barely managed to get a sentence out. “I… she…”

“Just say it already! What happened?” Brendon shouted.

“What do you expect me to say? Why didn’t anyone bother telling me that she was pregnant?” Joselyn scoffed, her tone sharp and her irritation obvious.

If someone had mentioned that Yolanda was expecting, Joselyn would have thought twice before doing anything rash—at least until the baby arrived.

“That’s not even what I’m asking. I want to know why Yolanda’s in the hospital right now,” insisted Brendon, refusing to let her dodge the real issue.

Joselyn fidgeted with her fingers, her eyes dropping to the floor, unwilling to meet his stare.

“If you keep quiet, I’ll still get answers once Yolanda wakes up,” said Brendon, his tone cold and unforgiving.

Tears streamed down Joselyn’s cheeks. “I swear, I had no clue she was pregnant. If I’d known, I wouldn’t have laid a finger on her. I just gave her a small push—I never imagined she’d fall that hard, or there would be so much blood…”

The memory of Joselyn’s harsh words during their call flashed through Brendon’s mind. His jaw tightened, and anger pulsed through him, every nerve on edge.

He squeezed his fists until his hands ached.

This was his mother, and he could never bring himself to hit her. Anyone else would have been on the floor by now.

“You should hope Yolanda and the baby make it, because if they don’t, I’ll never forgive you,” said Brendon, his words thick with fury as his hands shook.

Sobbing, Joselyn reached for his arm, desperate for comfort, but he yanked himself free.

“Please, believe me—I didn’t want this. I never meant for any of it to happen,” she pleaded, her voice frantic.

But Brendon had already turned away. His thoughts circled Yolanda and the baby, refusing to leave any space for Joselyn’s excuses.

Inside the hospital room, as soon as Yolanda stirred and opened her eyes, Brendon reached for her hand and held it tightly.
