Chapter 1313:

She sighed softly. “They’re all so busy. It’d be nice if everyone could come home for once… Just to have a proper family reunion.”

As Ophelia kept talking, Florrie listened quietly, her heart warming with every word. She didn’t feel even a trace of impatience.

Having her granddaughter around always brightened her mood. It brought a sense of life back into the quiet house.

But then, the thought of her other missing granddaughter slipped into her mind, casting a shadow over her heart once more.

Florrie’s smile slowly faded, and she let out a quiet sigh.

If her missing granddaughter had grown up with them, she would have been just as loving as Ophelia, calling her “Grandma” in that soft, melodic voice that could melt her heart. The mere thought of hearing her granddaughter say “Grandma” again and again made Florrie’s lips curve into a tender smile. Lost deep in her memories, Florrie didn’t even notice Ophelia’s voice at first.

“Grandma,” Ophelia said softly, giving her arm a gentle tap. Florrie blinked herself back to the present and looked over at Ophelia.

“Please, Grandma… My sweetest Grandma, I love you so, so much—mwah, mwah!” Ophelia cooed, her voice playful and dripping with affection.

Her cuteness was impossible to resist, and Florrie burst out laughing.

Florrie couldn’t resist her for long and finally gave in. “Alright, alright. I’ll go with you. I can never say no to you, my little foodie,” Florrie said with a fond smile.

“Yay! Grandma’s coming for a meal! You’re the best, Grandma!” Ophelia squealed, raising her hands over her head to form a heart. “Love you, Grandma!”

“Then let’s get going. Should we ask Merlin to come along?” Florrie asked, smiling warmly.

“He’s buried in work at the company. Probably can’t make it. Let’s not worry about him. Come on, Grandma, let’s feed our hungry stomachs first!” Ophelia said, looping her arm through Florrie’s and skipping along like a carefree child.

Florrie laughed softly and followed her, listening as Ophelia’s cheerful chatter filled the air all the way out.

Florrie knew exactly what Ophelia was doing—keeping her busy with talk so she wouldn’t sink back into painful memories.

When they got into the car, Ophelia ran her fingers through her fiery red hair and teased, “Grandma, you should totally dye your hair red too. It’d look gorgeous on you.”

“Oh, don’t start. I’m far too old for those flashy experiments.” Florrie’s eyes lingered on Ophelia’s vivid red hair, glowing under the sunlight.

Youth truly was a beautiful thing. A time when everything felt possible.

Florrie drifted into memories of her own youth, a faint smile tugging at her lips.

She thought of her late husband. The man she had loved deeply but lost far too soon.
