So grab a cup of tea, settle in, and let me take you through every heart-stopping moment of this incredible chapter.

The Winchester household felt different with Cecelia gone. There was something about her presence — even when she stayed hidden away in her room — that charged the air with a certain restless energy. But now? Silence had settled over the house like a heavy blanket. And the strangest thing? Nina actually seemed... happier. Lighter, even. At least on the surface.

Millie couldn't shake the unease that had taken root in her chest since that weekend away. Nina hadn't brought up the phone call — the one that had come in the middle of the night while they were at The Plaza. Not once. And that silence was somehow more terrifying than any accusation could have been.

Meanwhile, Andrew and Millie had been dancing around each other like two magnets desperately trying to resist their pull. They lived under the same roof, which made avoidance nearly impossible. When they passed each other in the hallway, both would avert their eyes, pretending the other didn't exist. It was agonizing. Millie knew she couldn't afford to lose this job — but she also couldn't shake the aching truth that she had no chance at a real relationship with the first man she'd genuinely liked in a decade.

That evening, Millie was rushing to get dinner prepared before Andrew came home, determined to have everything perfectly in place. But as she carried the glasses of water toward the dining room, her world collided — quite literally — with Andrew's chest.

They ran smack into each other.

One of the glasses slipped from her fingers and shattered on the floor, sending sharp shards scattering across the tile. "Damn it!" she cried, her frustration bubbling over.

Hesitantly, she hazarded a glance up at him. He was wearing a dark blue suit with a dark tie, his five o'clock shadow only adding to his devastating handsomeness. Their eyes met for a split second, and against her will, Millie felt that familiar jolt of attraction shoot through her like lightning. His eyes widened — he felt it too. She was sure of it.

"I'll help you get this cleaned up," he offered.

"You don't have to do that."

But he insisted. Millie swept up the large pieces of glass while he held the dustpan, disposing of the remains in the kitchen. Nina would never have helped her like this — but Andrew wasn't like Nina. When he took the broom from her hands, his fingers brushed against hers, and their eyes met once more. This time, neither of them could ignore the fireworks exploding between them. It was physically painful to know she couldn't be with this man.

"Millie," he said in a husky whisper that made her throat go dry.

He was only a foot away. If she leaned forward, he would kiss her. She knew he would.

"Oh no! What happened?"

Nina's voice sliced through the moment like a blade. Andrew and Millie jumped apart as if they'd been set on fire. Millie gripped the broom so tightly her knuckles turned white. "I dropped a glass," she stammered. "Just, you know... getting it cleaned up."

Nina's eyes dropped to the floor, where tiny shards glistened under the overhead lights. "Oh Millie," she said sweetly. "Please be more careful next time."

The irony wasn't lost on Millie. She had worked there for months and had never once broken anything — except, well, that night Nina caught them watching *Family Feud* late at night. But Nina didn't know about that. Or so Millie thought.

"I'm just going to grab the vacuum," Millie mumbled, desperate to escape.

As she returned to the utility closet — which was, fittingly, slightly larger than her bedroom upstairs — Andrew's pained eyes followed her every move. Whatever he had wanted to say a moment ago, he still wanted to say it. But not with Nina in the room.

Or maybe he could after all.

"We should talk later," he murmured in her ear as he followed Nina into the living room. "Okay?"

Millie nodded, her heart hammering. She didn't know what he wanted to discuss, but she took it as a good sign. They had already agreed never to speak of what happened at The Plaza. So if he wanted to revisit that... she shouldn't get her hopes up. But oh, how she wanted to.

About ten minutes later, everything was cleaned up, and Millie called Andrew and Nina in for dinner. They sat on opposite ends of the couch, scrolling through their phones, not even attempting to speak to one another. Millie had noticed they were starting to do the same at dinner time now.

They followed her into the dining room. Nina took her seat across from Andrew and looked down at the plate of pork chop with applesauce and broccolini. A smile spread across her face — and that's when Millie noticed something terribly wrong.

Nina's bright red lipstick was smeared over the right side of her lips, giving her a demonic, almost clown-like appearance. "This looks delicious, Millie."

"Thank you."

"Doesn't it smell wonderful, Andy?" she said.

"Mmm." He picked up his fork. "Very nice."

"I'm sure," Nina continued, her voice dripping with false sweetness, "you never got food like this in prison, did you, Millie?"

Mic drop.

The words hung in the air like a guillotine. Nina smiled up at Millie pleasantly with those demonic lips. Andrew, sitting frozen across from her, was gawking at Millie with wide, horrified eyes. This was clearly new information to him.

"Um," Millie managed.

"What sort of food did they serve you there?" Nina pressed, leaning forward with eager curiosity. "I've always been curious about that. What's prison food like?"

Millie's mind raced. She couldn't deny it. Nina knew her past. "It's okay."

"Well, I hope you don't get inspired by any meals you had there," Nina laughed, a cold, brittle sound. "Stick with what you've been doing. You're doing a good job."

"Thank you," Millie muttered through gritted teeth.

Andrew's face had gone ashen. Of course, he had no idea Millie had ever been in prison. She had never even considered telling him. Somehow, when she was with him, that chapter of her life felt like it belonged to another lifetime — a distant, faded past. But most people didn't see it that way. To most people, she was only one thing.

A convict.

And Nina wanted to make sure she knew her place.

Millie was desperate to escape Andrew's shocked expression. She turned and rushed toward the stairwell, her heart pounding in her ears. She was nearly at the stairs when Nina's voice rang out.

"Millie?"

She stopped, her back going rigid. Every muscle in her body screamed to keep walking, but she forced herself to turn around, pasting an artificial smile on her face. She slowly walked back to the dining room. "Yes, Nina?"

Nina frowned with theatrical displeasure. "You forgot to put out the salt and pepper shaker. And unfortunately, this pork chop does need a bit of salt. I wish you would be more generous with the seasoning."

"Right. Sorry."

Millie walked into the kitchen and grabbed the shakers from the counter — roughly six feet from where Nina was sitting, mind you. She brought them out to the dining room, and despite every ounce of her self-restraint, she slammed them down on the table. When she looked at Nina, the corners of her lips were twitching with amusement.

"Thank you *so* much, Millie," Nina said sweetly. "Please don't forget it again."

Millie wished she would step on a shard of broken glass.

She couldn't even look at Andrew. God only knew what he must be thinking about her now. She couldn't believe she had been contemplating some sort of future with him — okay, maybe not seriously, but for a split second... well, stranger things had happened. But that was out the window now. He had looked horrified when Nina mentioned prison. If only she could explain...

This time, she made it to the stairs without Nina calling her back for some other petty task. She trudged up to the second floor, then climbed the darker, narrower stairs to her small bedroom. She slammed the door behind her, wishing — not for the first time — that she could lock it.

She plopped down on her bed, fighting back tears. How long had Nina known about her past? Had she only recently discovered it, or had she done a background check when she hired Millie after all? Maybe she had *liked* the idea of hiring a convict. Someone she could boss around, humiliate, control. Anyone else would have quit months ago.

But as Millie sat there feeling sorry for herself, something on her nightstand caught her eye.

A copy of the playbill from *Showdown*.

She picked it up, confused. Why was the playbill on her nightstand? She had put it in her purse after the show, keeping it there as a reminder of that magical night. Her purse was on the floor, leaning against the dresser. So how...?

She definitely hadn't taken it out. She was sure of it.

Someone else must have put it there.

The door to her room had been locked, but she wasn't the only one with a key.

A sinking, cold feeling settled in the pit of her stomach. Everything clicked into place with horrifying clarity. Nina had blurted out that Millie had been in prison because she *knew*. She knew Millie had seen the show with Andrew. She knew they had been in Manhattan together, all alone. Maybe she didn't know about The Plaza — not for certain — but she knew they hadn't been home at eleven o'clock at night. And if she was smart enough, and cruel enough, she could find out everything.

Nina knew everything.

And in that moment, Millie realized the terrifying truth: she had just made a very dangerous enemy.

*Dear readers, I have to pause here and catch my breath, because this chapter was absolutely devastating. Watching Nina systematically dismantle Millie's fragile happiness was like witnessing a masterclass in psychological warfare. The way she chose that exact moment — with Andrew at the table — to reveal Millie's prison past was calculated cruelty at its finest. And that playbill on the nightstand? Chills. Absolute chills. Nina has been playing chess while everyone else was playing checkers. The smeared lipstick, the innocent act, the passive-aggressive demands for salt and pepper — every detail screams that Nina is not just unhinged, she's methodically destroying Millie's life piece by piece. And poor Andrew, caught in the middle, looking at Millie like she's a stranger. My heart absolutely broke for her.*

*This chapter deserves nothing less than a perfect rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rating: 4.9 / 5 Stars*

*As for what comes next — I predict Andrew will seek Millie out for that conversation he whispered about, but this time it won't be about romance. He'll want answers about her past, and Millie will have to decide whether to tell him the truth or push him away forever. Meanwhile, Nina has revealed her hand, and she's only getting started. The question is: will Millie fight back, or will she let Nina crush her completely? And more terrifyingly — exactly how much does Nina know?*
