Married at First Sight
Chapter 4943
“Oh, where’s Dr. Joans? Hasn’t he arrived yet?”
“He’ll be here soon, Alex York. You go ahead and do your work. I’ll go inside and find a more secluded spot.”
Alex York really wanted to go in, but reason told him it wasn’t wise to act rashly, so he said, “Okay, I’ll get back to work.”
He rode away on his electric scooter.
After he left, Marry Lord entered the coffee shop. She had just chosen a seat when Land Joans arrived.
Land Joans walked in and saw Marry Lord sitting in the corner. He walked over to Marry Lord and said, “Marry, you can ride your electric bike faster than I can drive a car.”
“It’s more convenient for me to ride an electric bike, and I get there before you. You can’t drive as fast as my electric bike if you get stuck in traffic.”
The waiter came over and asked the two of them what they would like to drink.
Land Joans ordered a coffee, while Marry Lord opted for a juice instead.
“Senior Joans, it’s already late, and you’re still drinking coffee. Won’t it affect your sleep? I’m quite sensitive to coffee; half a cup can keep me awake all day. I’m used to drinking tea, so it doesn’t have as much of an effect on me.”
“I’m fine, I just slept too long last night.”
Land Joans looked at Marry Lord, seemingly thinking for a while, before tentatively asking, “You knew about Flower Morgan taking care of me last night?”
Marry Lord then realized that he had asked her to talk in order to test whether Flower Morgan had really done something with him.
Did Flower Morgan really use this to force him to take responsibility?
In that case, even if they did get married, their marriage wouldn’t be happy. However, this was Flower Morgan’s choice. Marry Lord had warned her that if she still insisted on doing so, she would have to bear the consequences herself.
She paused for a moment, then said, “I know. Miss Morgan called me last night and contacted me again today. She took care of you all night, and she worked hard. You should thank her properly.”
“Don’t go out drinking anymore, Senior Joans. You are an outstanding person, much better than your peers. Don’t give up on yourself because of me. I only have the feelings of a senior and junior for you.”
“We’ve known each other for so many years, and you’ve always been good to me. If I were going to fall in love with you, I would have done so long ago, and I wouldn’t have had to wait until now.”
“Flower Morgan has been so good to you, waiting for you for so many years. Even when you were pursuing me, she still cared about you silently. I think you could consider giving her a try.”
Land Joans remained silent.
After a long pause, he said softly, “I know she’s good to me, but… Marry, do you really not like me? Is it because of that guy surnamed York?”
“He’s better looking than me and looks like a rich young master, but he’s actually a useless person who lives off his brother and sister-in-law. Don’t be fooled by his appearance.”
“This kind of man is a playboy. He’s so good-looking, he must have attracted a lot of unwanted attention outside. You won’t be happy with him.”
“Like your first boyfriend… I don’t want you to suffer heartbreak again. I am absolutely sincere towards you. Don’t worry, as long as we are together, I will maintain proper boundaries with my relatives back home.”
“Try not to let them bother you.”
Marry Lord said, “Senior Joans, our affairs have nothing to do with Alex York. Don’t jump to conclusions about Alex York.”
“It’s not your relatives from your hometown that made me back down. If I truly loved you, I wouldn’t be afraid even if you had many relatives like that. The main reason is that I don’t love you. I only see you as a senior from school.”
“It really has nothing to do with Alex York. My relationship with Alex York isn’t what you imagine; we’re just neighbors living upstairs and downstairs. I introduced him to a renovation contractor, and occasionally he asks me for help on where to buy better materials.”
