As dawn broke, the old lady, as usual, got up to take a walk in the yard, then practiced for a while. Returning to her room, she hadn’t seen Alex York come downstairs yet. She asked the housekeeper, “Hasn’t Eighth Master gotten up yet?”
The housekeeper replied, “Usually on weekends, Eighth Young Master doesn’t get up until almost noon, unless he has plans to go out with friends or is with important clients.”
“Eighth Young Master always says he’s busy all week, and on the weekend he wants to sleep in for a couple of days,”
the old lady said. “What day is it today? He’s still sleeping in. I
‘ll go upstairs and wake him.” The old lady said, heading upstairs. The housekeeper offered to help her, but she refused.
She could walk two laps around the yard herself; she didn’t need help.
Usually, her grandsons helped her; she was just giving them a chance to be filial.
The housekeeper then gave up on helping the old lady upstairs and stood at the top of the stairs watching her slowly ascend.
Alex York had actually set an alarm, but after it went off, he turned it off and went back to sleep.
He’d even forgotten why he’d set his alarm on Saturday.
He’d been out socializing until late last night, and the house in Wansheng Garden was being renovated; work was suspended today because Master Tang couldn’t come, and he’d told him last night.
So, he didn’t need to go over today.
He just wanted to get a good night’s sleep.
Then, knocking on the door kept coming, making it impossible for Alex York to fall back asleep.
He walked out barefoot to open the door, his handsome face still gloomy. He thought it was the housekeeper knocking, and was seething with anger.
He opened the door, about to unleash a torrent of abuse, when he saw his grandmother standing there. Alex York was startled. “Grandma?”
“Still sleeping? The sun’s high in the sky! Get up!”
“Then go pick up Marry from the Lord family clinic. Have you forgotten my appointment with Marry? I asked her to come over today to chat with me and give you a tour of your big villa.”
Alex York: “…Grandma, I almost forgot. I was wondering why I set my alarm on Saturday.”
The old lady slapped him across the face. “You brat! I shamelessly fought for this opportunity for you, and you’ve forgotten it! Hurry up and get ready to pick up Marry.”
Alex York wasn’t angry at all after being slapped by his grandmother. Instead, he grinned and said, “Grandma, I’ll be right there. Give me ten minutes.”
“Hurry up.”
“Okay.”
Alex York turned and walked back.
The old lady went downstairs and instructed the housekeeper to prepare food, drinks, and various fruits that she thought were delicious, so she could entertain Marry when she arrived.
Ten minutes later, Alex York appeared before the old lady looking refreshed.
“Grandma, how do I look? Do I look good? Is my outfit alright today?”
He was wearing a white short-sleeved T-shirt and black casual pants, and his stubble was clean-shaven.
“No problem. Casual clothes are fine at home. Your skin tone suits white tops too. You look great.”
“Would you like something to eat before picking up Marry?”
the old lady asked. Without waiting for Alex York’s answer, she quickly instructed the housekeeper to bring out Alex York’s breakfast.
Alex York had intended to leave for the Lord family clinic now, but his grandmother had already instructed the housekeeper. He said, “I’ll eat something before I head out; it’s still a bit early.”
The clinic was only a ten-minute drive from his home, taking about twenty minutes unless there were red lights along the way.
It wasn’t far.
“Grandma, isn’t Belle coming with us?”
Alex York asked.
He had assumed his little niece was with her grandmother.
