Married at First Sight

Chapter 5067

Dr. Joans said self-deprecatingly, “That’s true. What bad things did Mr. York say about me? Did he say I was two-timing or that I was penniless and powerless?”

“I never said anything about two-timing. I didn’t even know about your relationship with Miss He. And Dr. Joans can’t be said to be penniless and powerless,”

Alex York said. “Dr. Joans, don’t base your love on money and power. Love is pure.”

“Dr. Joans, do you think I defeated you because of my family background? You’re wrong. It wasn’t my family background that defeated you, but your own shortcomings,”

Dr. Joans said. “Marry hasn’t accepted Mr. York yet, and Mr. York hasn’t even confessed. How could he defeat me? I haven’t lost yet.”

“Yes, Dr. Joans hasn’t lost yet, but is Dr. Joans confident of victory?”

“Dr. Joans, you are actually a very outstanding person. You’ve achieved your current wealth through your own efforts, which is quite impressive for an ordinary person.”

“It’s understandable that your family is proud of you, but you shouldn’t hesitate when it comes to love. Cut ties decisively. If you don’t love Miss He, refuse her completely and let her give up on you.”

“But you didn’t. You gave Miss He hope, so this one thing destined Marry not to choose you. Because of her past heartbreak, she’s become extremely cautious about relationships and won’t easily give her heart away again.”

“She’d avoid a man like you like the plague, afraid you’ll end up like her first love.”

“And then there are your parents. Dr. Joans, do you know your parents’ true feelings towards Marry? Do you remember years ago, when Marry, as your junior, visited your hospitalized mother, how did your mother treat Marry?” “Oh

, you probably don’t know. Marry said your mother sent you away. She told Marry to take leave and stay at the hospital to take care of her, not to trouble you, not to tire you out, but to trouble a young girl she’d just met, and to tire Marry out.”

Dr. Joans was taken aback.

“When did this happen? I don’t know. My mother didn’t tell me, and Marry didn’t tell me either.””It seems to be about your mother’s hospitalization. I heard it from Marry. Your mother misunderstood your relationship with Marry. When Marry visited her, she assumed you two were a couple. But even if you were, your mother shouldn’t have said that.”

“She’s sick and hospitalized. You’re her son; taking care of her is your duty, your filial piety. Yet she wants Marry to do it in your place.”

“If you and Marry were really together, she would definitely become a wicked mother-in-law. She’d act all nice to you, but behind your back, she’d scheme against Marry.”

“She’d make Marry do everything, worried about tiring you out. She’d interfere in your little family life, meddling in everything, and demanding Marry’s sacrifices— the kind of person you’d expect.”

“Marry doesn’t love you, she hasn’t accepted your feelings, not just because of you, but also because of your family background, your parents’ attitude towards her.”

“Anyone with a brain wouldn’t choose you. They don’t want to fight with your mother every day after marriage. You’re the only successful person in your family, supported by the entire family. You’re carrying too much burden.”

“This also means you’re destined to be someone who won’t argue or quarrel with your parents for the sake of your wife. So, any woman who marries you, unless she has enough ability to control your parents, will not marry you.”

Alex York ignored Dr. Joans’s pale face and continued, “Xiao Ya told you many times when she rejected you, right? She said that her rejection wasn’t my fault, and it really wasn’t my fault.”

“Xiao Ya and I haven’t known each other for very long, but you’ve known each other for several years, and you’re even classmates. She understands you as a person and your family. She’s kind, but not weak; she’s very clear-headed.”

“Dr. Joans’s parents are still with you. Have they ever complained or criticized Xiao Ya in front of you? Have they ever thought that Xiao Ya doesn’t know how to manage a household and isn’t as good as Miss He?”

Dr. Joans’s face turned even paler.

Alex York knew that her parents had said those things.
