Married at First Sight

Chapter 5084

“Refuse him completely. With a mother like that, the man pursuing you won’t be any better. You might think he’s great now that you’re not married, but once you’re married, all his flaws will be exposed.”

“Only then can you see what kind of person he truly is. Dr. Lord, you mustn’t be soft-hearted. Don’t let his pain soften your heart.”

Marry Lord smiled. “I won’t.”

She wasn’t the Marry Lord she once was.

Having suffered heartbreak, she was very cautious about relationships, not easily accepting anyone, and placing greater emphasis on character and the other person’s family background.

To Marry Lord’s surprise, Joans’s mother not only came to the hospital to cause trouble, criticizing and insulting her, but also went to the York Group demanding to see Alex York.

Alex York didn’t work at the York Group office; he was in charge of a branch company.

She made a scene at the company entrance, insisting on seeing Alex York, saying she had something to say to him to prevent him from being deceived, and so on.

The security guard from York’s Group said helplessly to Joans’s mother, “Auntie, please stop making a scene here. The Eighth Young Master really doesn’t work here; he only occasionally comes back to headquarters.”

“Besides, today is Sunday, the company is closed. Except for our security department, everyone else is off work.”

Joans’s mother paused, realizing, “Oh right, today is Sunday, they’re not working.”

She’d forgotten.

Marry Lord works because she’s a doctor, and doctors’ holidays are different from corporate employees. Yesterday was Saturday, Marry Lord’s day off, and today is Sunday, so she has to go back to the hospital.

Seeing Marry Lord at work, she assumed it was Monday, which is why she came to York’s Group to make a scene and demand to see Alex York.

“Then, where does Alex York usually work? Isn’t he the Eighth Young Master of the York family? Isn’t York’s Group a York family company?” That

‘s all Joans’s mother wanted to know.

Everyone in Wiltspoon knew that York’s Group was a York family company.“The York Group is so big, with many subsidiaries. The Eighth Young Master is in charge of several branches, and he doesn’t usually work at any one company. We really don’t know his schedule.”

“Auntie, we’re just gatekeepers, we don’t know anything about those things. You don’t need to ask, we won’t know either.”

Even if the security guards knew, they wouldn’t tell Joans’s mother.

This woman was clearly unreasonable; without the Eighth Young Master’s permission, they wouldn’t dare tell her the address of his usual workplace.

Joans’s mother left reluctantly.

As soon as she left, the security guards quickly reported the matter to their security captain, who then told Zachary’s secretary, who in turn contacted Alex York and told him about it.

Alex York asked the security guards to send him a photo of the woman captured by the company’s security camera. Seeing it was Joans’s mother, Alex York frowned.

Joans’s mother had gone to see him; she was probably going to badmouth Marry Lord to him.

Alex York checked the time; Marry Lord was about to get off work. He called Marry Lord, and after she answered, he said, “Marry Lord, is it convenient for me to have lunch with you?”

“Why would I have lunch for no reason?”

Marry Lord laughed. “My housekeeper has already prepared my meal. If I don’t go home for lunch, she’ll scold me.”

Hearing Marry Lord’s laughter, Alex York felt slightly relieved, thinking that Joans’s mother hadn’t gone to the hospital to cause trouble for Marry Lord. He said, “Dr. Joans’s mother just came to the entrance of my company and made a scene, demanding to see me.”

“She said she wanted to tell me some things, and that I had been scammed, etc. I suspect it has something to do with you.”

“She came to my clinic early this morning, shortly after I started work, and started yelling at me. Marry Lord drank last night and got drunk. His mother felt sorry for him and blamed me.”

“She even told me to move, to move far away, away from her son. I was so angry with her that I had to call security to kick her out.”
