“You, you’re trying to ruin our son.”
Joans’s mother stammered, unable to speak.

Joans’s mother felt extremely ashamed thinking about how she had been so angry at the hospital that morning, only to have to apologize in person that afternoon. She didn’t want to go.

Joans’s mother frantically tried to stop her son from packing, her voice trembling with tears.
“Land Joans, are you crazy? You’ve finally achieved what you have today; what are you going back to the countryside for?”
Dr. Joans shook off his mother’s hand and continued packing.
“I have no face to stay here anymore. Where else can I go if I don’t go back to the countryside? I also have no face to be a doctor anymore. I’ll go back to the countryside to help my parents farm.”
Joans’s mother tried to stop him again, crying, “We worked so hard to raise you, and now you’re going back to farm? Do you want to drive us crazy?”
“Mom, you ruined my future! You destroyed me!”
Joans’s mother was speechless.
She wailed, sat down on the ground, and cried about her hardships while slapping her thigh.
Dr. Joans remained unmoved.
Seeing that her crying was useless, Joans’s mother finally panicked. She cried, “I’ll apologize! I’ll apologize, okay?”
