Married at First
Chapter 5195
“Grandpa and Grandma are practically living off you now. They always need your money for everything. Why are you giving us so much money? You should save it for your wedding.”
“Grandpa and Grandma also have pensions. It’s not much, but it’s enough, and we can even save a little.”
The two elders had saved up money to leave for Sonny.
Sonny didn’t need their money, but it was a small token of their love as grandparents.
Hank Sonny insisted on putting the money in his grandparents’ hands, apologetically saying, “I don’t have time to go home and visit you. You miss me and have to come to my company. I’m so unfilial.”
“If Grandpa and Grandma don’t accept my money, I’ll feel even more guilty and remorseful. Please take it. I’ll have enough money for my wedding.”
Only after he said this did the two elders accept his money.
Grandma Hank even said he was giving too much, saying five thousand each would be enough.
Sonny saw the two elders off from his office, all the way out of the office building, and arranged for his driver to take them home.
Before getting on the bus, Grandma Hank held Hank Sonny’s hand and said, “Sonny, there’s something I’ve thought about and I still need to remind you.”
“What is it?”
“Your aunt wants to introduce you to a girlfriend. If you don’t like her, don’t worry about her. If she comes looking for you after she finds out you’re back, just ignore her.”
Hank Sonny smiled, “Grandma, I know.”
He’d still give his grandparents face; when they came, he’d entertain them no matter how busy he was.
But his aunt? Even if he was bored out of his mind, he wouldn’t want to see her. His
aunt was truly incorrigible.
Sonny was genuinely annoyed with his aunt.
He knew perfectly well what she wanted from introducing him to a girlfriend, what her intentions were.”Don’t take it too hard on your aunt. That’s just how she is, she can’t change. For your grandparents’ sake, just ignore her,”
Grandma Hank said, worried that her grandson might harm her daughter.
“Grandma, I know,”
Hank Sonny replied.
He certainly wouldn’t be so petty as to retaliate against his aunt.
Occasionally, when he returned to the Hank family home and his aunt was at her parents’ house, he would patiently listen to her nagging and buy her some things, but it was impossible for her to get any benefits from him. It was
also impossible for him to arrange high-paying, easy jobs for his cousins.
Whether it was the Lewis Group or his own company, entry required merit; he, as the boss, wouldn’t let relatives use connections.
Hank Sonny knew his two cousins’ abilities very well.
They couldn’t even be competent as ordinary employees at the Lewis Group ; their education wasn’t high—neither had a university degree, only a junior college diploma, which wasn’t considered high either.
Of the three children from his aunt’s family, only his cousin’s career has progressed somewhat, and her husband’s family is considered decent.
Hank Sonny helped his grandmother into the car.
He reminded the driver to drive slowly, as the elderly couple shouldn’t drive fast.
The driver drove off with the Hank family elders.
Hank Sonny stood in the office building watching the car drive out of the Lewis Group before turning back, taking out his phone to make a call as he walked.
After taking the elevator upstairs and returning to his office, Hank Sonny processed a few more documents. Only after the driver dropped off the elders at home and returned did Hank Sonny leave work and head to the Guancheng Hotel to meet a client.
